  • Frequency is an important operating parameter of a power system. Frequency of a power system remains constant if sum of all the loads plus losses equals total generation in the system. However, the frequency starts to decrease if total generation is less than the sum of loads and tosses. On the other hand, the system frequency increases if total generation exceeds the sum of loads and losses. Electric power systems sustain transient frequency swings whenever the balance between generation and load does not no longer hold. To cope with this Constraints, it requires an accurate and high speedy frequency deviation estimation technique and suitable adjustment to obtain the power system energy balance. The fundamental frequency component of 3-phase signal is first extracted by using an algorithm based on FIR(finite duration impulse response) filter, a phase angle of a voltage. The rate change of the phase angle is used for estimation and speed in its process. Also, to confirm the validity of the proposed algorithm, the simulation results obtained by using EMTP(electro magnetic transients program) are shown.

  • The development of the frequency convertors using semiconductors devices makes it possible to control the speed of A.C. motors easily. It is now economically feasible to provide them with power at adjustable frequency using silicon-controlled rectifier (or thyristor) inverters. In such a case, in order to operate an induction motor efficiently over a wide speed range, it must be supplied from a variable frequency source of which frequency is adjustable over the speed range of the motor. It is desired to observe the changes in characteristics as primary current, torque-speed of induction motor etc. at any optional frequency. Although the characteristics can be obtained by means of the conventional methods, they require very complicated precedures of calculations. The Current Diagram Method in this paper suggests a new approach to simpler calculations of the characteristics, using the motor constants at reference frequency. The conclusions of this study are summarized as follows: 1) The equations of stator current at adjusted frequency were derived to construct graphical chart and the current circle required for the Current Diagram Method. 2) The radius, center of the current circle and the vector locus, the basis for calculating the characteristics, at any desired frequency could be easily determined with the aid of both the derived graphical chart and current circle at reference frequency. 3) The method was shown to be applicable to the various types of 3-phase induction motors and also dealt with its application to the split-phase, condenser motors.

  • In this paper, we propose the method to extract the important frequency bands from the EMG signal, and for generation of feature vector using the important frequency bands. The EMG signal is measured with 4 sensor and is recorded as 4 channel’s time series data. The same frequency bands from 4 channel’s frequency components are selected as the important frequency bands. The feature vector is calculated by the function formed using the combination of selected same important frequency bands. The EMG signals acquired from seven wrist motion type are recognized by changing into the feature vector formed. Then, the extraction and generation is performed by using the double combination of the genetic algorithm (GA) and the neural network (NN). Finally, in order to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, computer simulations are done.

  • Recently, image and voice processing part is using wavelet transform. We propose thining algorithm using wavelet tranform. Wavelet transform consists of low frequency and high frequency in the spatial and frequency domain. After the wavelet decomposition, more than 90 percents of energy are contained in lowest frequency band. Therefor, for images with large difference of gray value between foreground and background like character images, we can more accurately in the lowest frequency band. Lowest frequency band has wavelet transform significant coefficient(WTS) that is required for the thinning algorithm we proposed Paper [3][5][7][8] can not separate consonants and vowels of korean characters. Becuase korean characters have structural feature. This paper can separate consonants and vowels. Simulation executed low frequency image and data compression can reduce 1/4$^{n}$ with level n. we can redcue time complexity 3/8.

  • When a power system experiences a serious disturbance on insufficient power, the system frequency may drop. For system frequency will be maintain standard value, under_frequency relay will reconstruct balance of power and load by load shedding. Currently load shedding scheme is due to establishment plan by fixed scenario. Where compare current scheme with past scheme, system frequency should be recovered by load shedding using rate of frequency decline. This paper suggests the dynamic load shedding scheme by using the rate of change of frequency when The Korea Electric power system is happened the large disturbance.

  • Electron-neutral collision frequency is one of the important parameters in the plasma physics. Recently, It is employed to monitor the plasma processing in industrial plasma engineering [1]. Using the wave-cutoff probe with network analyzer, the plasma impedance was measured in inductively coupled argon plasma and analyzed to determine the resonance frequency. The electron-neutral collision frequency is directly calculated from the resonance frequency. The calculated electron-neutral collision frequency is good agree with reference which is calculated by measured EEDF using single langmuir probe (SLP).

  • Conventional series-resonant pulse frequency modulation controlled DC-DC high power converters with a high-frequency transformer link which is designed for driving the high power microwave generator has the problem of hard switching commutation at turn-on and turn-off of active power switching devices. This problem is due to the influence of the magnetizing current of the high-frequency transformer. This paper presents a novel prototype for a high-frequency transformer using parasitic parameters with a lossless inductive snubber and a series resonant capacitor assisted series-resonant zero current switching pulse frequency modulated DC-DC power converter, which is designed using a high power magnetron for microwave ovens. In order to implement a complete and efficient soft switching commutation, the performance of the new converter topology is practically confirmed and evaluated in the prototype of a power microwave generator.

  • In this paper, a novel prototype of auxiliary switched capacitor assisted voltage source soft switching PWM Single-Ended Push Pull (SEPP) series capacitor compensated load resonant inverter with two auxiliary edge resonant lossless inductor snubbers is proposed and discussed for small scale consumer high-frequency induction heating (IH) appliances. The operation principle of this inverter is described by using switching mode equivalent circuits. The newly developed multi resonant high-frequency inverter using trench gate IGBTs can regulate its output AC power via constant frequency edge-resonant associated soft switching commutation by using an asymmetrical PWM control or duty cycle control scheme. The brand-new consumer IH products which use the newly proposed edge-resonant soft switching PWM-SEPP type series load resonant high-frequency inverters are evaluated using power regulation characteristics, actual efficiency vs. duty cycle and input power vs. actual efficiency characteristics. Their operating performance compared with some conventional soft switching high-frequency inverters for IH appliances is discussed on the basis of simulation and experimental results. The practical effectiveness of the newly proposed soft switching PWM SEPP series load resonant inverter is verified from an application point of view as being suitable for consumer high-frequency IH appliances.

  • Power system frequency is the main index of power quality indicating an abnormal state and disturbances of systems. The nominal frequency is deviated by sudden change in generation and load or faults. Power system is used as frequency relay to detection for off-nominal frequency operation and connecting a generator to an electrical system, and V/F relay to detection for an over-excitation condition. Under these circumstances, power system should maintain the nominal frequency. And frequency and frequency deviation should accurately measure and quickly estimate by frequency measurement device. The well-known classical method, frequency estimation technique based on the DFT, could be produce the gain error in accuracy. To meet the requirements for high accuracy, recently Wavelet transforms and analysis are receiving new attention. The Wavelet analysis is possible to calculate the time-frequency analysis which is easy to obtain frequency information of signals. However, it is difficult to apply in real-time implementation because of heavy computation burdens. Nowadays, the computational methods using the Wavelet function and transformation techniques have been searched on these fields. In this paper, we apply the Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform (RDWT) for the frequency estimation. In order to evaluate performance of the proposed technique, the user-defined arbitrary waveforms are used.

  • A modern MEMS resonator is a micro-scale structure operated over a high frequency range. In order to predict its resonant behavior in a design process, High-frequency response analysis (Hi-FRA) is demanded. Algebraic substructuring (AS) is known as a fast numerical technique to construct an eigenspace for FR and frequency sweep (FS) algorithm efficiently solves the frequency response system projected on the eigenspace. However, the existing FS algorithm using AS is developed for low-FRA, say over the range 1Hz-2KHz. In this work, we extend the FS algorithm using AS for FRA over an arbitrary frequency range. Therefore, it can be efficiently applied to systems operated at a high frequency, say over the range 230MHz-250MHz. The success of the proposed method is demonstrated by Hi-FRA of a checkerboard resonator.
