  • The purpose of this study is to suggest fundamental data for design and planning of university dormitory through the survey of facility condition and resident's satisfaction. The scope of this research is limited to the period from late 1980's to early 2000's. The University Dormitories in Jeollanam-do and Jeollabuk-do are selected as subject. The result of this study is as follow. 1) Even though dormitory's total area is increased than the past, user's satisfaction is still in low level. It's necessary for user to fit a space to life pattern and the difference of human. 2) As a result of comparing of the sexual difference, most men are more active than women in using facility and practice 3) Not only a part of facility but also a part of operation is important element in satisfaction.

  • Fuzzy Neural Network (FNN) is a compulsory element in a voice-controlled machine due to its inherent capability of interpreting imprecise natural language commands. To control such a machine, user's perception of imprecise words is very important because the words' meaning is highly subjective. This paper presents a voice based controller centered on an adaptable FNN to capture the user's perception of imprecise words. Conversational interface of the machine facilitates the learning through interaction. The system consists of a dialog manager (DM), the conversational interface, a Knowledge base, which absorbs user's perception and acts as a replica of human understanding of imprecise words,...

  • A computer program, named NEO-PCBRG, for the analysis and design of prestressed con-crete(PSC) bridges was developed using the finite element method. NEO-PCBRG can predict the response of PSC bridges throughout the various stages of construction and service. NEO-PCBRG has both pre- and post-processing capabilities. Pre-processing refers to all the neces- sary steps required to prepare a virtual prototype, more commonly termed a varied model for analysis. Post-processing here stands for the step in which the results from the analysis are reviewed and interpreted. In order to allow for the easy and convenient execution of the entire procedure, NEO-PCBRG was developed using computer graphics in the Visual Basic pro- gramming language. In conclusion, this study presents a new software architecture for analy-sis using the user-oriented design technique.

  • Since 1980, rapid social and economic development due to increased plant construction has led to a plant dormitory in a short period. In recent years, by the advent of the durability of dormitory remodeling is a critical need. However, user requirements due to the lack of owner's budget do not reflected. As a result, users have complained about the scope of construction, and construction stakeholder in accordance with the budget efficiency of the complaints have decreased. In this study the remodeling requirements in the planning stages is proposed for the remodeling process. In addition work type and element can select a range of construction worksheet are proposal.

  • With the deployment of web-based educational game over the internet, the user's registration becomes a critical element. The user is authenticated by the system using username, password, and unique code. However, it cannot be handled properly because the data is transmitted through insecure channel on the network. Hence, security requirement is needed to avoid identity leakage from malicious user. In this paper, we propose a secure communication approach using SSL protocol for an online game. We also describe the security requirements for our approach. In future work, we intend to configure and implement the SSL protocol by enabling HTTPS in web-based online game.

  • With the expansion of metaverse content and hardware platforms, various interactions in the virtual world have been built, raising expectations for an increase in immersion which is a major element of the metaverse. However, among hardware platforms that increase virtual immersion elements, the typical HMD platform can be a barrier to new user inflows due to its high cost. Thus, this paper focused on improving virtual-to-real interactions by extracting motion data using relatively inexpensive webcam equipment in PC environments, utilizing Unity game engines, Photon unity network, multi-platform implementations, and Barracuda neural network inference libraries.

  • The user-centered design paradigm shift and the emergence of user-experience design have also increased the importance of user experience with products and services in specific spaces. In addition, with the advent of IoT services, new changes in the future work environment are expected. This study aims to propose a new user experience design considering the context of future work space. First of all, we examined the concept and nature of IoT, and defined various factors that affect the future work environment and grasped the relation of each element. Next, user research in the current work environment was conducted to identify the context that affects the behavior of users in various types of work environments, and to insight the possibility of a new user experience in the future work environment. Based on the above analysis and insights, various context models for a new future work environment were constructed, and UX models and UX scenarios and alternatives were presented. This study will contribute to the diversity of UX design research by expanding the viewpoint of UX design from device to space and context, and it will contribute to the collaborative research with space design and service design, also interdisciplinary research with IoT service related field.

  • The finite element method is one of the most widely used method of structural analysis that has wide applications in diverse fields of engineering and science. The method has been proven effective and reliable in many practical problems. One of the reasons for the methods' popularity is its ease of use, but still the user has to input the finite element mesh which affects the accuracy of the results. The knowledge required to form an effective mesh for a given problem is somewhat complex and for sometime there has been research effort to automate the generation of the mesh and this is called the adaptive mesh generation scheme. A good adaptive mesh scheme seemed to require an accurate assessment of error and generally this requires some additional computation. This paper looks into the possibility of generating adaptive meshes based on representative strain values in each finite element method. The proposed adaptive scheme does not require additional computations other that looking up the data values already computed as finite element analysis results and simple manipulations of these data. Two plane stress problems, a plate with a hole and a deep beam with a concentrated load at the end are considered to show the progress of the improved generation of adaptive meshes using the scheme.

  • Water Distribution Network (WDN) is a critical infrastructure to be maintained ensuring proper water supply to wide-spread consumers. The WDN consists of pipes, valves, pumps and tanks, and these elements interact each other to provide adequate system performance. If elements fail by internal or external interruptions, it may result in adverse impact to water service with different degree depending on the failed element. To determine an appropriate maintenance priority, the critical elements need to be identified and mapped in the network. In order to identify and prioritize the critical elements in WDN, an element-based simulation approach is proposed, in which all the elements composing the WDN are reviewed one at a time. The element-based criticality is measured using several resilience indexes that are newly developed in this study. The proposed resilience indexes are used to quantify the impacts of element failure to water service degradation. Here, three resilience indexes are developed, such as User Demand Severity, Economic Value Loss and Water Age Degradation, each of which intends to measure different aspects of consequences, such as social, economic, and water quality, respectively. For demonstration, the proposed approach is applied to a benchmark water network to identify and prioritize the critical elements.
