Designing Coherent User Interfaces of N-Screen Services Reflecting Users' Task Knowledge

  • Objective: Companies want to expand their business by providing their services at other devices and new services based upon existing services. Therefore, they look for building brand identity by providing same experience throughout devices and services. Background: Many services are available to use at multiple devices including mobile phones, tablet, personal computers, and televisions, thanks to proliferation of n-screen and cloud technology. Method: It was discussed that consistency, which emphasizes the regularity and has been one of essential aspects of user interface design, seems not effective to be applied to n-screen services, owing to different screen size, input and output peripherals, usage environment and users' attitude. Results: A new definition of same experience among different devices and services, called coherence, was introduced and abstraction levels of user interfaces were proposed as the denominator of defining coherence. Then types of users' task knowledge at each abstraction level were discussed with examples. Conclusion: This paper concluded by discussing design requirements for designing coherent user interfaces among devices and services.

A Study of Service Design for the General Hospital through analyzing the User Journey Map and the User Context

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to present a solution to problems in the services provided by the general hospitals by creating a user-centric environment through analyzing the User Journey Map and the User Context. Background: The rapid growth in aging population and the monopolization of superior medical staffs by the general hospitals increased demand for the general hospitals in Korea. But, often services provided by the general hospitals are provider-centric and low quality. Method: This study examines problems in the services provided by the general hospitals by analyzing the User Journey Map through stakeholder interviews(contextual interviews) and on-site observation. Based on the contextual analysis of the user(i.e. the patient), this study proposes new and improved user-centric services to be provided by the general hospitals. Results: Ten new user-centric services proposed by this study are: (1) "Booklet on Success Story", (2) "FAQs by Doctor", (3) "Designated Nurse", (4) "Patient Interview Record Card", (5) "Close relationship between doctor & patient", (6) "Thank You Notice Board", (7) "Step by Step", (8) "Green Cap", (9) "Patient Kit", (10) "RFID Direction Display System". Conclusion: The service design for the general hospitals proposed by this study is an important case-study on improving the environment of the general hospitals from provider(medical staffs)-centric to user(patents and its family)-centric. Application: This study is expected to be used in various areas to improve existing system(products and/or services) to be more user-centric.

  • 사물 인터넷 기기가 일반화됨에 따라 사용자의 상황을 파악하고 다른 사용자에게 알림을 주어 위급 상황에 대처하기 위한 서비스가 증가하고 있다. 이와 같은 시스템은 대부분 기기의 값이 일정 기간 이상 변하지 않거나 이상치가 발견되면 이벤트로 판단하고 분석한다. 그러나 기기가 비활동 상태라면 상황을 파악하거나 다시 서비스를 제공할 수 없다. 이 때 만약 사용자의 요구를 파악하고 주변의 다른 기기들을 통해 서비스를 제공하거나 다른 사용자에게 상황 정보를 알린다면 적절한 조치를 취할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 요구를 포함한 상황 인지 모델과 이를 반영한 기기 탐색 시스템을 제안한다. 시스템은 수집한 데이터를 기반으로 사용자의 상황과 요구를 분석한다. 만약 사용자 기기가 비활동 상태일 때는 다른 기기를 탐색함으로써 상황을 인지하고 나아가 사용자에게 다시 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 제안하는 방법을 통해 사용자 중심의 서비스 제공하고 여러 응급 상황에서 필요한 요소들을 분석, 대처한다.

이용자맞춤형정책정보서비스 수요분석 연구 (A Study on Need Analysis for User-Customized Policy Information Services)

  • 본 연구에서는 정책정보 이용자의 수요 및 요구조사와 맞춤형서비스 사례분석을 기반으로 이용자맞춤형정책정보서비스 모형을 개발하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 이용자맞춤형서비스 관련 문헌분석, 사례조사, 그리고 정책정보 수요자들을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 수행하였다. 이를 기반으로 본 연구에서는 이용자맞춤형정책정보서비스가 제공해야 할 세부적인 서비스를 정보검색 및 자료제공서비스, 참고정보서비스, 정책정보 네트워크 서비스, 도서관 마케팅서비스, 개인화서비스 등으로 제안하였다.

모바일 위젯기반 개인화 서비스의 영향 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study of Factors Affecting Mobile Widget-based Personalized Services)

  • As digital convergence and mobile services evolve, personalization becomes one of the most important factors attracting customers. Personalization means functions offering individually customized services with relevant contents using information on individual preferences. This sort of personalized services has attracted great attention of a large part of online firms. One of representative services of such personalized services is a mobile widget service. In this study, we identified seven antecedents affecting the quality of personalized mobile widget services and empirically investigated which antecedent has a significant effect of the quality of personalized mobile widget services. In addition we carried out empirical investigation into the effect of the quality of personalized mobile widget service on user satisfaction and trust. As a result of this research, we revealed that seven variables including information services affected components of personalized services, and usefulness and perceived benefit as components of personalized services affected user trust and satisfaction for personalized services.

Mobile User Behavior Pattern Analysis by Associated Tree in Web Service Environment

  • Mobile devices are the most important equipment for accessing various kinds of services. These services are accessed using wireless signals, the same used for mobile calls. Today mobile services provide a fast and excellent way to access all kinds of information via mobile phones. Mobile service providers are interested to know the access behavior pattern of the users from different locations at different timings. In this paper, we have introduced an associated tree for analyzing user behavior patterns while moving from one location to another. We have used four different parameters, namely user, location, dwell time, and services. These parameters provide stronger frequent accessing patterns by matching joins. These generated patterns are valuable for improving web services, recommending new services, and predicting useful services for individuals or groups of users. In addition, an experimental evaluation has been conducted on simulated data. Finally, performance of the proposed approach has been measured in terms of efficiency and scalability. The proposed approach produces excellent results.

  • 정보통신기술의 발달로 우리의 생활에는 많은 서비스들이 등장하였다. 이런 서비스들은 우리의 삶은 편리하고 안전하게 하지만 서비스의 증가와 비례하여 우리가 이를 인식하고 활용하는데 필요한 관심과 노력도 증가하게 되었다. 상황인식서비스는 이런 문제를 해결하기 위해 사용자 주변 상황을 스스로 인식하고 적시적소에 자동으로 제공되는 서비스이다. 기존 상황인식서비스에 관한 연구들을 살펴보면 상황인식서비스는 주로 개발자에 의해 정의된다. 개발자에 의한 상황인식서비스 정의는 사용자 주변 환경이나 개개인의 생활패턴을 반영할 수 없다는 중요한 문제를 가진다. 본 논문에서는 서비스의 필요성을 느끼는 사용자 스스로가 상황인식서비스를 직접 정의할 수 있게 하는 사용자인터페이스인 EUCAS(by End-User, Context-Aware Service development)를 소개한다. EUCAS는 사용자가 상황인식서비스를 직접 정의할 수 있게 하기 위해 주변 상황정보와 실행 가능한 서비스들을 객체의 형태로 표현하고 이를 쉽게 조작할 수 있는 사용자인터페이스를 제공한다. EUCAS는 사용자가 자신이 필요한 상황인식서비스를 직접 정의하고 관리할 수 있게 함으로써 개인화된 상황인식서비스 환경구축을 가능하게 한다.

KS-SQI 서비스 품질이 고객 행태에 미치는 영향과 사용자 경험 평가 분석 : OTT 서비스를 중심으로 (An Analysis on the Impact of KS-SQI Service Quality on Customer Behavior and User Experience : Focusing on OTT Service)

  • The subject of this study is user experience analysis for OTT mobile app services. Application service quality was quantitatively measured by utilizing KS-eSQI evaluation model from a service quality perspective. The purpose of this analysis is to analyze how service reuse and other people's intention to recommend services are affected by service quality. In addition, further analysis of user experience will qualitatively look at what efforts are needed to improve OTT service quality and provide a user-friendly environment. According to the survey, the higher the level of KS-eSQI service quality, the higher the reuse of OTT services and recommendation of others. In particular, the dimensions of primary services and unexpected additional services had a higher impact on customer loyalty and recommendation of others than in other industries. Moreover, the following three implications were found to improve app services from a customer experience perspective. First, images and video thumbnails that highlight the strength of the content they provide should be actively utilized. Second, it is necessary to provide service companies with evidence for data-based work recommendations. Third, it should provide a viewing environment in which users can respond more intelligently to the various situations and conditions when they actually watch.

  • With the contunuing trends towards an information based society, telecommunications services are becoming an integral part of social activities. So, emphasis on ISDN is growing rapidly and placed on supporting integrated services delivery of different levels to the end user. The end user’s perception of an integraged services delivery(in particular, ISDN services) should reflect three interrelated capabilities, ISDN access capabilities and ISDN network capabilities. For turning the ISDN concept of above capabilities into reality, we have implemented the experimental system on user-network interfaces, which are three kinds of implementations in user access arrangements, namely basic access, intermediate rate multiplexed access and primary rate multiplexed access. Through these implementations, NTE(Network Terminating Equipment) is used for single basic access [2B+D], IMUX (Intermediate rate Multiplexer) for 4 basic accesses [4X(2B+D)] and PMUX(Primary rate Multiplexer) for [10/12 X (2B+D)]. This paper describes the outlines of system features on user access equipments, system architectures of testbed and experiment result of each access arrangements.

대학 시설물 유지관리 서비스 사용자 요청 패턴 분석 (Patterns in User Requests for Facility Management Services in Higher Education Facilities)

  • This paper aims to identify patterns in users' requests for facility management (FM) services in higher education facilities. We analyzed data collected from 309 service request forms, made available via a department office and an enterprise resource planning system, at a private university in Seoul between May 2009 and February 2015. We found that the number of user requests were the highest in September and October. Requests for electronic and communication (E/C) services outnumbered those for architectural services and mechanical and plumbing (M/P) services. Repair requests for doors and windows were the most common under architectural services; repairs for air-conditioners and radiators were the most commonly under M/P services; and installation of electrical outlets, telephone wires, and internet services were the most sought-after E/C services. Maintenance requests were received every three months, while repair requests were received every six or seven months.
