  • This paper applies the technology-gap trade theory to explaining radical changes in the competitive positions of countries in world machine tool markets over the last three decades. It develops the notion that the innovation gaps in machine tools among countries led to the inter-country differences in the competitive performance in the sector as well as in its user sectors. Since competitive advantage largely depends on a capability to improve, create and apply technology to market competition, a higher innovative performance in one country than another is closely related to a higher innovative performance. A higher innovative performance in machine tools is also associated with a higher competitive performance of the large areas of its user sectors, due to sectoral interdependences and externalities generated by machine tool innovations. The results of empirical investigation through a panel data analysis show that the international gaps in machine tool innovations appeared to have a positive significant relationship with the differences in the export performance of both the machine tool sector and its user sector across countries.

  • This study aims to develop the research model about the factors that have impact on uTradeHub users' acceptance and resistance to innovation. The followings show the research hypotheses and the results of test. i) The result of H1 empirical analysis confirmed that relative advantage and task adaptedness of e-Trade have more impact on acceptance of innovation than on resistance to it. And also perceived risk and complicity of e-Trade have more impact on resistance of innovation than on acceptance to it. ii) The result of H2 analysis confirmed that the characteristics of foreign trading companies (support by CEO and IT infra maturity) has more impact on acceptance of innovation than on resistance to it. iii) The result of H3 analysis confirmed that characteristics of uTradeHub user' resistance has more impact on resistance of innovation than on acceptance to it. And also, it was confirmed that acceptance of innovation has more impact on the diffusion of e-Trade than resistance to innovation. iv) The result of H4 analysis confirmed that the difference of the degree and factors that has impact on the user's resistance and acceptance by adoption stage of e-Trade. This study has significance in that it arranges the concept and stages of e-Trade systematically and, unlike other studies, it goes beyond the acceptance and diffusion of e-Trade to the inclusion of resistance together in the model.

  • This study was intended to point out the limit of existing digital content-centered studies, or approaches from the viewpoint of the supplier and in the aspect of business profit model and find ways to assess the quality of digital content, considering the characteristics of digital content. For this, the study is to apply value innovation strategy to digital content assessment, to analyze the applicability, and to propose a new and practical framework for digital content assessment method. To this end, this study selected the global No. 1 search service provider Google and local portal site Naver search service. The study on assessment factors by value innovation strategy was based on existing literature, while user-value elements in that respect were confined to information quality, interactivity, communication, interactive storytelling, and usability. This study objectified the relation with the value innovation strategic analysis, through qualitative and quantitative analyses on value elements of search service users.

  • Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been widely used to predict user's behavior to accept the technology. Prior researches have been mainly focused on innovation constructs such as perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. However, very little research has been conducted to understand individual mental beliefs in technology acceptance and imitation influence. This study integrates Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Flow Theory (FT) and Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DIT). This paper indicates that imitation context, cognitive absorption (CA) based Flow theory and innovation context are the three important factors influencing user acceptance of information technologies. The proposed model has been tested among 232 users of MP3 players. Results showed that innovation context and cognitive absorption have positive influences on intention to use technology. Not all factors of the imitation context have direct effect on intention to use. However, we found that imitation context has positive influence on intention to use technology through cognitive absorption.

  • Today, the paradigm of education is changing from teacher-centered, facility-centered, supplier-centered to student-centered, people-centered, and user-centered. In 2019, the Ministry of Education promoted the school space innovation project to provide a school space as a balanced life space, such as learning, play, and rest, through educational activities led by students, who are the leaders of the future society. Based on this, Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education prepared a manual for practice while carrying out a project to build a future classroom. In those projects 'user participatory design' is applied as a new design approach and facilitators play an important role as experts in the process of user participatory design. However, it is different from the guidelines by the Ministry of Education in terms of facilitator role; facilitator in Incheon's future classroom projects can be in charge of designer part. This was possible because the design scope was limited to the classroom space and the construction permit work was not applied, and the Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education seems to be able to successfully implement the plan derived through 'user participatory design' under the responsibility of the facilitator. However, this may be considered to be inconsistent with the basic purpose of the school space innovation project. In the case of the school unit project, it is considered that more systematic supplementation is necessary.

  • Human has been living in the relation with diverse artifacts ranging from simple tools to complex systems. The relation is an interaction between user and product with input and output process to achieve a certain goals. Natural inter-connection is very important to this interaction. The visualized operation and the dear feedback of product play a critical role in making input and output distinct at both sides. So product innovation means removing mental and physical loads between product and user based on understanding and analyzing interaction. This study proposes the interaction grid as a framework to visualize the interaction. The interaction grid is the format to describe the input and output process between user and product. Modeling and analysis of interaction is based on the interaction grid. Finally, this study discusses the idea exploration method for product innovation with interaction grid, and develops prototype of interaction analysis system for supporting idea exploration.

  • The purpose of this study is to perform spatial restructuring by user participation design as one of the school space innovation projects. The contents of this study were conducted through the process of deriving and applying various requirements and specific ideas while communicating through the user participation process targeting Y Elementary School in Busan. As a result of the study, the space design was pursued in various ways, away from the uniform educational space of grades 1-6. This study focuses on the development of various space designs that reflect the characteristics of each grade level, and it is characterized by a built-in cabinet for each person to secure a personal space. For a space created by innovation, It can be seen that for a space created by innovation, it is essential to design based on the user participation of various people who use the space.

  • This study investigated that customer satisfaction based on the effects of perceived value (innovative value, practical value, symbolic value) and innovation characteristics (innovative resistance, visibility) of wearable healthcare device users on purchase attitude. A survey was conducted on actual users who are currently using wearable healthcare devices, and the final 201 copies were analyzed using SPSS 25 and SmartPLS 3.0. The summary of research results is following here. First, it was found that the perceived values, innovative and practical values had a positive (+) effect on the user's purchasing attitude, while symbolic values did not affect the user's purchasing attitude. Second, among the innovation characteristics, innovation resistance was came out negative (-) effect on the user's purchasing attitude, and among the innovation characteristics, visibility did not affect the user's purchasing attitude. Third, it was found that perceived price had a positive (+) effect on the user's purchase attitude. Fourth, it was clarified that the perceived price and purchase attitude had a positive (+) effect on the user's customer satisfaction. Based on these research results, theoretical, practical, and future research directions were proposed.
