  • The development in information technology allowed most of the information around us into digital information, in other words, a database. The innovation increased the accessibility and helped this society change into an informational age. However, there is a shortcoming of this open source as the users have difficulty in assorting the information that s/he needs and realizing if the information provided is important. Therefore, the need for search engine has risen in such a way to increase the accessibility and facilitation of information provided to the users through searching the necessary information in the database by an easy and accurate way. This study aims to increase the utilization of search engine through relationship analysis between purpose of user and interface design factors of search engine. Also, it intends to propose design guidelines for search engine interface design in order to increase user satisfaction and usability. This study categorized and correlated the relationships of the purpose in using the search engine and types of search engine interfaces. This study explicates the critical properties in designing each search engine interface according to the purpose of the users in using them. Also, this study proposes recommendations for appropriate design guidelines for search engine interface and effective advertisement use through properties of interface and their importance. The search engine interface suggested from the result provides interface that allows efficient search for desired information and embrace a variety in users, eventually increasing the usability in search engine.

  • A webzine issued by a public institution not only plays a role in communication between members of the institution and its users, but is itself a meaningful record. In addition, as one of the management techniques of the archives, there is a growing awareness that active marketing is needed to promote the service and allow potential users to visit the archives. Therefore, efforts should be made to increase user satisfaction by identifying user needs, composing content reflecting them, and selecting user-centered interfaces appropriately. The purpose of this study is to design 'On-Gi', a newsletter of the Presidential Archives, as a user-participating smart platform in a smart device environment. As a research method, we first looked at the current status of webzine publication by relevant domestic institutions. Next, we compared and analyzed the issue of 'On-Gi' provided by the Presidential Archives and major contents. Based on this, a design model of the webzine for the marketing of the Presidential Archives was proposed. This can be used as a key marketing strategy for the Presidential Archives in the new user environment of technological innovation of smart devices.

  • Recently, the trend of open innovation and web 2.0 change the information portal services. The importance of using information demand analysis is emphasized in planning service strategy. The issues of the study are how we can figure out the demand and how we can use it in enhancing service level. This study aims at presenting the result of green technology information users' interests and the service enhancement directions. For the information types, additive functions, open innovation needs, the relation between users' organization, main job title, and the involved technological area are analysed. Among them, the involved technological area of the user is correlated to the needs, so we illustrate the meaning of planning service strategy according to the technological fields. The main contribution of the study can be the customized service strategy proposal using the users' demand which can be different from one technology field to another.

  • The purpose of the study is to identify the barriers to using mobile health applications based on the Diffusion of Innovations Theory. The study employed a purposive sampling to recruit college students who were non-adopters or rejecters. The study participants were a total of 44 students, who consist of 32 males and 12 females, and paper-based interviews were conducted. The findings of the study indicated that attributes such as relative advantages, complexity, trialability and observability were not considerable factors of impeding the adoption or continuous use of health applications, whereas relative disadvantages and compatibility were. The study suggests that health application developers and service providers minimize relative disadvantages and enhance compatibility of the innovation with consumers' life styles, rather than try to improve relative advantages and complexity, to more effectively encourage non-adopters to try and maintain using the innovation.

  • While the importance of adopting cloud computing service has been emerged, comparatively little research has been conducted on examining factors of an individual user's intention to switch toward cloud computing service. Hereafter, this study presents and empirically tests users' intention to switch to cloud computing. Our model posits that the characteristics of cloud computing such as effectiveness, economics, accessability, switching cost, security concern, and satisfaction toward existing IT service to cloud service affect perceived value, which in turn, influences intention to switch. An experimental study using student subjects provided empirical validation for our proposed model. Survey data from 204 respondents was used to test the model using partial least square analysis. As the result of the analysis, five hypotheses out of seven hypotheses were supported. According to our results, among the characteristics of cloud computing, effectiveness, economics, switching cost, and security concern were found to have significant impact on users' intention to switch that mediated by perceived value. Based on our research findings, we hope that this research will stimulate researchers' interest in the emerging area of cloud computing adoption.

  • This study is to verify the accommodation attitudes and intention of use of the end-users to use the drone distribution delivery service that is to be introduced in Korea. For a research purpose, the research model and hypothesis in this study have been set based on by using the SPSS 22.0. Upon these, the extended technology acceptance model has been used to verify the correlation service of new technology, and the result has shown that the user of drone distribution delivery service has a causal relationship with individual innovation and that the accommodation behavior and intention of use have a causal relationship with economic efficiency and convenience. However, there was no causal relation from a perceived risk. Hence, based on the results of study about accommodation behaviors and intention of use of the end users of drone distribution delivery service, the marketing implications have been provided for commercialization of drone delivery service.

  • This study takes a holistic approach to understanding the diffusion of IPTV services by combining the adoption-diffusion model and the use-diffusion model of innovation. IPTV service, a leading Digital converged application coupling media content with telecom, has been recently launched commercially in Korea. We created a structural model of adoption-diffusion, using the perceived ease-of-use and usefulness of TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) as mediating variables, and a structural model of use-diffusion, with the rate of use and the variety of use as mediating variables. To empirically analyze these models, non-users of IPTV were surveyed using the adoption-diffusion model to identity factors influencing their intention to subscribe to the service. Meanwhile, users of IPTV were surveyed using the use-diffusion model to determine the factors that influence their satisfaction with the service and their intention to fe-use it. Under the adoption-diffusion model, we found that trialability, household innovativeness and perceived risk were the determinants of user satisfaction with IPTV, and perceived ease-of-use, the mediating factors. Under the use-diffusion model, complementarity and communication were shown to be the determinants of users' satisfaction with IPTV, and variety of use, the mediating factor. We also found that consumers' intention to re-use IPTV was strongly influenced by its relative advantage and perceived risk.

  • The aim of this article is to criticize the discourses and practices of the appropriate technology for international development cooperation in Korea which focus narrowly on the technologies and are oriented to the providers of technologies. To present an alternative, we will discuss the appropriate technology by the insights from 'socio-technical system' studies which underline not only technological side but also the social, institutional and user's side, and analyze the interactions between them. This research deals with several cases mainly regarding small scale's renewable energy from Laos, Thailand, Bangladesh, Mongolia and Nepal. We put out some suggestions to improve the discourse and practices of appropriate technology in field of international cooperation by Korea.

  • Systematic studies have been rarely conducted on the acceptance of big data technology despite the technology drawing much attention from academia, industry and general public. With big data technology still being in the infant stage in Korea, a study model was constructed in this paper by integrating the innovation diffusion theory and the task technology fit theory with this technology acceptance model (TAM) as the central framework to make big data technology more readily acceptable in the country, and the aim of making big data technology readily acceptable was expanded as the moderator variable of the TAM. The results of this study showed that "subjective norm" and "task technology fit" showed the most significant effect as the exogenous variables of the TAM. In addition, the "innovative characteristic of the organization" was the significant exogenous variable affecting the intention to accept big data technology to those "technology utilizers" that try to come up with new services or products that are technology-based; however, "subjective norm" was the rather significant factor affecting those simple "technology users". Finally, a significant difference was seen in the verification of mediation effect.
