A Study on Analysis of Type of Tutorial for Serious Game (기능성 게임의 튜토리얼 유형 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In recently, one of the most interests is a field related with serious game. Most game users perform the first for the executing of tutorial before they use a serious game for the first time. But in most case, developers do not recognize importance of tutorial and they do not consider the type of user preference tutorial and make tutorials only as developer's intentions. In our study, we carry out investigation and analysis about type of providing tutorials in representative serious games. Also, we do a survey of users' preferences for types of tutorials. If developers use the result of our study and we can expect more convenient and good quality of tutorial development.

  • In this paper, we proposed new software for 3D rendering of MR images in the medical domain using C# wrapper of Visualization Toolkit (VTK) and Microsoft .NET framework. Our objective in developing this software was to provide medical image segmentation, 3D rendering and visualization of hippocampus for diagnosis of Alzheimer disease patients using DICOM Images. Such three dimensional visualization can play an important role in the diagnosis of Alzheimer disease. Segmented images can be used to reconstruct the 3D volume of the hippocampus, and it can be used for the feature extraction, measure the surface area and volume of hippocampus to assist the diagnosis process. This software has been designed with interactive user interfaces and graphic kernels based on Microsoft.NET framework to get benefited from C# programming techniques, in particular to design pattern and rapid application development nature, a preliminary interactive window is functioning by invoking C#, and the kernel of VTK is simultaneously embedded in to the window, where the graphics resources are then allocated. Representation of visualization is through an interactive window so that the data could be rendered according to user's preference.

  • In this paper, a mobile search engine architecture that predicts user's search words and recommends them to users in estimated preference order without having additional user inputs. Information obtained from sensors is first sent to the recommendation engine. The related contents are extracted from the context and history databases and recommending words are selected from the contents. Finally, the words are delivered to the mobile device for suggestion. To evaluate the implemented system response time is measured. A satisfaction survey is also performed for 50 users, and improvement in the proposed system is observed.

  • There is a lot of information in our world, quick access to the most accurate information or finding the information we need is more difficult and complicated. The recommendation system has become important for users to quickly find the product according to user's preference. A social recommendation system using community detection based on label propagation is proposed. In this paper, we applied community detection based on label propagation and collaborative filtering in the movie recommendation system. We implement with MovieLens dataset, the users will be clustering to the community by using label propagation algorithm, Our proposed algorithm will be recommended movie with finding the most similar community to the new user according to the personal propensity of users. Mean Absolute Error (MAE) is used to shown efficient of our proposed method.

Conjoint Analysis of User Needs in Mobile Payment Interface Design

  • With the advent of the Internet era, consumer lifestyles have been changed tremendously, and mobile payment has carried out an increasingly extensive coverage of the people's life trajectory. Taking the design of the mobile payment interface as an example, we use a conjoint analysis method to survey college students in Guangxi, where questionnaires are collected from 270 people in different groups according to gender. The method separates the attributes that affect consumer choice of mobile payment interface design and the utility value of the attribute level to analyze consumer needs and preferences, and then obtains consumers' potential evaluation criteria for mobile payment interface design. The results of the study show that the attributes that influence consumers' choice of mobile payment interface design are, in order of preference: page layout, identification convenience, verification, module distribution, entertainment, and information encryption. Consumer groups of different genders show differences in their preferences in the mobile payment interface design and Consumer needs reflect consumer psychology. Several findings are obtained on the consumers' preferences on the mobile payment interface design, which may be used to improve future design processes.

  • In order to develop color image, color simulation based on data processing techniques has been developed and applied to data interpretation tools or product design supporting systems. It has been a commonmethod to use image key words to search for data and provide color coordination samples that determine computer combination in computerized support systems until recently. However, this method does not reflect system designers and users taste or preference on making final choices of color coordination samples because the database was designed based on an assumption of standardized group that was established database from large scaled image evaluation research. In this study, we suggest a color coordination simulator that supports designer's final decision-making procedure on sample groups through the simulation of various color combination. The simulator allows communications with the system to explore a designer's color combination taste and preference, and provides a user for an efficient environment to judge the optimum result. The color coordination simulator was designed based upon Dual mapping model derived from a designer's thought process, and four steps of operations longrightarrowdefining color concept longrightarrowmaking color sample groupslongrightarrow simulation-determining ranking among final combination samples - will be assisting color design process.

A Hybrid Recommender System based on Collaborative Filtering with Selective Use of Overall and Multicriteria Ratings (종합 평점과 다기준 평점을 선택적으로 활용하는 협업필터링 기반 하이브리드 추천 시스템)

  • Recommender system recommends the items expected to be purchased by a customer in the future according to his or her previous purchase behaviors. It has been served as a tool for realizing one-to-one personalization for an e-commerce service company. Traditional recommender systems, especially the recommender systems based on collaborative filtering (CF), which is the most popular recommendation algorithm in both academy and industry, are designed to generate the items list for recommendation by using 'overall rating' - a single criterion. However, it has critical limitations in understanding the customers' preferences in detail. Recently, to mitigate these limitations, some leading e-commerce companies have begun to get feedback from their customers in a form of 'multicritera ratings'. Multicriteria ratings enable the companies to understand their customers' preferences from the multidimensional viewpoints. Moreover, it is easy to handle and analyze the multidimensional ratings because they are quantitative. But, the recommendation using multicritera ratings also has limitation that it may omit detail information on a user's preference because it only considers three-to-five predetermined criteria in most cases. Under this background, this study proposes a novel hybrid recommendation system, which selectively uses the results from 'traditional CF' and 'CF using multicriteria ratings'. Our proposed system is based on the premise that some people have holistic preference scheme, whereas others have composite preference scheme. Thus, our system is designed to use traditional CF using overall rating for the users with holistic preference, and to use CF using multicriteria ratings for the users with composite preference. To validate the usefulness of the proposed system, we applied it to a real-world dataset regarding the recommendation for POI (point-of-interests). Providing personalized POI recommendation is getting more attentions as the popularity of the location-based services such as Yelp and Foursquare increases. The dataset was collected from university students via a Web-based online survey system. Using the survey system, we collected the overall ratings as well as the ratings for each criterion for 48 POIs that are located near K university in Seoul, South Korea. The criteria include 'food or taste', 'price' and 'service or mood'. As a result, we obtain 2,878 valid ratings from 112 users. Among 48 items, 38 items (80%) are used as training dataset, and the remaining 10 items (20%) are used as validation dataset. To examine the effectiveness of the proposed system (i.e. hybrid selective model), we compared its performance to the performances of two comparison models - the traditional CF and the CF with multicriteria ratings. The performances of recommender systems were evaluated by using two metrics - average MAE(mean absolute error) and precision-in-top-N. Precision-in-top-N represents the percentage of truly high overall ratings among those that the model predicted would be the N most relevant items for each user. The experimental system was developed using Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). The experimental results showed that our proposed system (avg. MAE = 0.584) outperformed traditional CF (avg. MAE = 0.591) as well as multicriteria CF (avg. AVE = 0.608). We also found that multicriteria CF showed worse performance compared to traditional CF in our data set, which is contradictory to the results in the most previous studies. This result supports the premise of our study that people have two different types of preference schemes - holistic and composite. Besides MAE, the proposed system outperformed all the comparison models in precision-in-top-3, precision-in-top-5, and precision-in-top-7. The results from the paired samples t-test presented that our proposed system outperformed traditional CF with 10% statistical significance level, and multicriteria CF with 1% statistical significance level from the perspective of average MAE. The proposed system sheds light on how to understand and utilize user's preference schemes in recommender systems domain.

Ergonomic Design of Office Chair (사무실 의자의 인간공학적 디자인)

  • Many domestic users complain about severe pain to the waist, neck, and shoulder as well as work performance because the domestic chair design was developed with western anthropometry dimension and design criteria. Ergonomic design standards are needed for office chair design to reduce stress and poor physical posture for various user body types. In this study, we have suggested design dimensions recommended from previous studies and Korean anthropometry data. We also have reviewed users' preference dimension through measured subjects and analyzed differences between users' preference dimension and the previous design criteria to verify physical appropriateness. We evaluated general office chairs and adjustable chairs which can adjust to fit each person. we also analyzed how each design dimension was reached and affected the human body by evaluation of physical discomfort and comfort. We have found seat height is very important in a workstation. If the seat height is high, it effects the thigh. If width, height, and angle of the backrest are wrong, fatigue to the shoulder, neck, and waist, etc.. As a result of this experiment, we suggested that the height of a seat for Koreans be 425mm for the fixed type and 365-484mm for the adjustable type. Also other design recommendations were suggested in the thesis. In conclusion, our research will be very important in the database because it provides adjustable ranges to fit user's body types in the various design fields.

A Study on the Customized Services of University Libraries According to MBTI Personality Types of College Students (대학생의 MBTI 성격유형에 따른 대학도서관 맞춤형 서비스에 관한 연구)

  • This study intends to classify the users by the MBTI personality type and investigate and analyze information resources and services of library preferred by personality type. Towards this end, we have surveyed the K University students on their personality types and preferred resources and services, and also attempted to explore the possibility of providing customized information services of university libraries according to the MBTI personality type based on the results. As a result of the study, it turned out that there was a significant difference in the preference of digital contents type in the analysis of the data type preference and the quadrant type through the analysis of attitude index type from validating the difference between data / information source and service preference according to the MBTI type. The analysis of 16 types of personality also demonstrated a significant difference in the perception of digital contents. Accordingly, In order to provide services for data and digital contents suitable for personality types in university libraries, it should be preceded by collecting MBTI personality type data for users in the library. After that, when a user requests a reference information service from a library, or requests a book or information, it is necessary to provide a form-specific service or provide a content-specific service.

A Study on Use Satisfaction and Image Evaluation of User through Post Occupancy Evaluation in Urban Park - On the 2·28 Memorial Park in Daegu - (도심공원 이용 후 평가를 통한 이용 만족도와 이미지 평가 - 대구 2·28기념중앙공원을 대상으로 -)

  • This paper deals with Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) of 2.28 Memorial Park in Daegu. The park is located in center of the city. The results and discussions could be used as basic data for urban park planning and design, in CBD. A questionnaire was conducted for 15 days from May 11, to May 26, 2016, and a sample group consisting of 230 on site users. The behavior, satisfaction, and preference of space image, were surveyed. The behavior analysis, satisfaction, and image evaluation questionnaire were derived using previous studies, and reliability, factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted using SPSS. As a result, the items were very reliable, causal factors were extracted, and the variables that affect satisfaction and image preference were able to be identified. In the 2.28 Memorial Park, user satisfaction and image evaluation value were very high in most items. As a result of the assessment, the green-water landscape factors and cleanness factors, which have the greatest influence on satisfaction and preference, should be continuously maintained. Due to the characteristics of the city center parks, the users of the parks also felt environmental problems in the urban areas, so the users assessed noise levels, plant species, and air quality at a low level. Therefore, to solve this, plans such as noise abatement and extension of green space should be ongoing.
