The purpose of this thesis is to know and understand the user requirements to provide with intelligent railway information service in response to the Ubiquitous environment. The railroad specially has a disadvantage of door-to-door service, however by using the information and communication techniques, we can provide the passengers who are using the intermodal transportation means with the realtime information, therefore we can overcome the above disadvantage. To deduce the passenger's needs for providing the future-type railway information service, we introduce the results of the questionnaire. In chapter 2, we studies on the concepts of intelligent railway information service, and in chapter 3, we investigate the cases of Japan and China, and in chapter 4, we study the passager's satisfaction by the questionnaire concerning the railway information service and suggest the needs for information offering.

Pilot Aptitude Research Equipment (PARE) is a simulator developed to measure or research pilot aptitude and train for student pilots. Design of an ergonomic PARE operation console is required to operate the equipment effectively. This study carried out five steps : (S1) operator questionnaire survey, (S2) anthropometric design formula development, (S3) usability evaluation, (S4) improvement design, and (S5) validation considering both Physical User Interface (PUI) and Graphic User Interface (GUI) of PARE operation console. The operator questionnaire surveyed needs for each PUI and GUI part of the console from two PARE actual operators. In terms of PUI, the anthropometric design formula was developed by using design variables, body dimensions, target population characteristics, and reference posture related to the PARE console. In terms of GUI, the usability evaluation was conducted by three usability testing experts with a 7-point scale (1 : very low, 4 : neutral, 7 : very high) on GUI of the PARE operation console by seven usability criteria. The improved PARE operation console was designed to reflect the optimal values of design variables calculated from design formula, the results from usability testing, and the operator's needs. The improvement effect was observed by 20 people who had experience with the PARE operation console. As a result of the validation, monitor visibility and cockpit visibility for the improved PUI design and visibility and efficiency for the improved GUI design were significantly increased by more than 90% respectively. The improved design of the PARE operation console in this study can contribute to enhance operation performance of the PARE.

Recently, there has been a growing interest in user-centered smart city services. In this study, user behavior analysis was performed as a preliminary study for user - centered smart city service planning. In particular, we will use GIS based location analysis data and video ethonography methodology to derive smart city service direction and needs. In this study, the area of Daejeon Design District selected as the Smart City Test bed was selected as the survey area and the location analysis data of the traffic accident analysis system of the road traffic corporation and the fixed camera We observed user's behavior type and change with image data extracted through the technique. Location analysis data is classified according to the type of accident, and image data is classified into 11 subdivided types of user activities. The problems and specificities observed were analyzed. The user behavior characteristics investigated through this study are meaningful to provide a basis for suggesting user - centered smart city services in the future.

Personalized reminder systems have to identify the user's current needs dynamically and proactively based on the user's current context. However, need identification methodologies and their feasible architectures for personalized reminder systems have been so far rare. Hence, this paper aims to propose a proactive need awaring mechanism by applying agent, semantic web technologies and RFID-based context subsystem for a personalized reminder system which is one of the supporting systems for a robust ubiquitous service support environment. RescorlaWagner model is adopted as an underlying need awaring theory. We have created a prototype system called NAMA(Need Aware Multi-Agent)-RFID, to demonstrate the feasibility of the methodology and of the mobile settings framework that we propose in this paper. NAMA considers the context, user profile with preferences, and information about currently available services, to discover the user's current needs and then link the user to a set of services, which are implemented as web services. Moreover, to test if the proposed system works in terms of scalability, a simulation was performed and the results are described.

The concept of Smart home is receiving a huge attention as a future living environment because of its advantages for elderly and disabled to maintain their quality of life. Smart home is a place equipped with integration of technology and services and closely intertwined with occupant's lifestyle. Therefore it is critical to consider the user's actual needs for ensuring satisfaction. However despite growing researches on user values for smart home, there have been few studies clearly categorizing smart home service and stating user values depending on characteristics of service. Thus, the aim of this research is to classify smart home services on user's perspective, and reveal user values for each smart home services. Through the in-depth literature review, we elicited technology-related user values and service-related user values, and state classification for smart home service. Also the relationship between user values and each smart home services were revealed. The results of this research should help to reflect user's actual needs for designing smart home services.

The purpose of this study is to improve the classification focused on KDC 4th edition for children's materials. For the study, literature study, KDC application and user survey in 51 libraries for children were performed. Based on the results, classification for children's materials is proposed to improve in two ways: classification system itself and arrangement in the shelf. First of all, it is required to scatter the subjects that are centered on specific numbers and to allow various types, characteristics and literature genre of children's materials to be classified in KDC. KDC also should provide specific notes and classification guidelines for interdisciplinary subjects. In the shelf arrangement, it is proposed to consider the introduction of user-friendly call number and arrangement principles by ages or titles. In the end, it is necessary to compose various collections that represent users' needs, and the user education program is needed.

The traditional documents analysis was centered on words based system was implemented using a morpheme analyzer. These traditional systems can classify used words in the document but, cannot help to user's document understanding or analysis. In this problem solved, System needs extract for most valuable paragraphs what can help to user understanding documents. In this paper, we propose system extracts paragraphs of normalized XML document. User insert to system what filename when wants for analyze XML document. Then, system is search for keyword of the document. And system shows results searched keyword. When user choice and inserts keyword for user wants then, extracting for paragraph including keyword. After extracting paragraph, system operating maintenance paragraph sequence and check duplication. If exist duplication then, system deletes paragraph of duplication. And system informs result to user what counting each keyword frequency and weight to user, sorted paragraphs.

Smart TV is to form a market of new industries along with the smartphone that appeared in the early 2000s. With the development of IT technology and the emergence of smart phones, user to pursue the application of high satisfaction. The smartphone has to meet the needs of the user in a variety of applications. However, Smart TV which led to a decrease in the development of a member of the application that reflect the needs of the user. Smart TV is popularized, the approach may be used instead of the application of high specification, the smart TV feel to be a smart are required to meet the needs of the user. This provides a feeling in conjunction as a system of one smart TV, smartphone, the exercise bike like to travel the distance of the actual user. The purpose of this study is to provide a cultural and artistic content guide service that can provide customized guides according to the disability status of the disabled who consume cultural and artistic contents. It is designed to provide a more individualized service through user input of disability information including the type and degree of disability of the disabled, the type of cultural and artistic content desired by the disabled, and information on the cultural and artistic level of the disabled. In addition, it is not limited by time and place, and it has the distinction of providing appreciation of cultural and artistic contents and commentary information of the corresponding cultural and artistic contents in various ways on the application. In particular, to provide cultural and artistic contents differently by identifying the type or degree of disability of the user, or to provide cultural and artistic contents with different expertise in consideration of the user's cultural level and taste, and to improve the cultural level. The most special feature is that it provides recommended content in consideration of the difficulty of art content. User analysis was conducted through in-depth interviews and persona techniques. As a result of the analysis, the needs for the enjoyment of culture and arts are also increasing among the disabled, while the services that reflect those needs are very insufficient. Therefore, all interviewees stated that they are willing to actively utilize these services if they are released. In the future, it is necessary to increase the accessibility of the disabled to culture and arts by developing various services using new ICT technologies.

The public's interest in the information disclosure system is increasing daily in line with the democratic cause of a transparent government and demands of the people to build on their right to know. Meanwhile, as society develops, the importance of culture and art in the quality of life is also increasing. Under these circumstances, culture and arts institutions are seeking to contribute to the expansion of the people's participation by providing timely and useful information and programs with high interest. Accordingly, this study intends to propose customized information services by analyzing the user's needs for information on public institutions in culture and arts and reflecting on the information disclosure service. For this purpose, three public institutions of in the culture and arts will be selected as representative examples to collect and cross-analyze the list of disclosed information received by users over a year. Furthermore, the requirements for the automation and intelligence of information disclosure tasks were summarized, and specific improvement plans were proposed for customized information services.
