프레쉬 킬스 공원 조경설계 (Fresh Kills Park Design, Staten Island, New York)

  • Fresh Kills is the largest landfill in the world located in the west side of Staten Island, New York. The landfill served as a storage area for New York City's trash for more than 50 years. After years of civilian and political pressure, state and local legislation decided its closure of landfill operation in Fresh Kills in March 2001. Soon after, Department of City Planning announced a Fresh Kills international design com-petition: 'Landfill to Landscape'. The winning entry was promised to be outline for the redevelopment of the 2,200 acre site which the size of three times Central Park. Forty-eight teams representing more than 200 offices from around world submitted proposals, from which six finalists that mostly led by landscape architects were selected. In December 2001, a jury of architects, landscape architects and city officials unanimously selected Field Operations as the winner. The plan, named Lifescape, visualizes the gradual 20-year transformation of the whole Staten Island into a 'natural lifestyle island' recognizing that Staten Island is home to coastal wetlands that shelter one of the most diverse ecosystems in the New York metropolitan area. It suggested that an ecologically reconstituted Fresh Kills could become the center of integrated parks and greenways system on the island otherwise fragmented. The project will be one of the largest and most ambitious undertakings in the metropolis in years developing a complex web of habitats and parklands on top of mountain of trash. This study tries to achieve two goals: One is to provide general explanations on the project, Lifescape, breaking down to its background, geographical context, design concepts and phased development plan. Another is to introduce the unique and innovative design approaches by Field Operations that are different from a conventional landscape architectural attitude. Since this project was well published through many magazines and newspapers, main focus will be upon aspects that differentiate this project from usual landscape projects. Conceptually Lifescape brought provocative notions on nature/culture relationship and the role of urban park as an active agency rather than just a green rest area. Also this project introduced pioneering graphics like plan collage, diagrammatic plan, phasing diagram and photo montage as vehicles conveying information, imagination and provocation. Witnessing the influence of the project gradually in the field of academic and practice in the States, this study is intended to become a constructive reference to similar landscape projects dealing with large and complex urban context in conjunction with restructure of contemporary city.

토지 및 건축물특성에 따른 정비사업 추진 분석 - 부산광역시 사례를 중심으로 - (Analysis of the Implementation of the Residential Improvement Project Considering Land and Building Characteristics - The Case of Busan Metropolitan City)

  • 정부는 노후불량주거지에 대한 개선책으로 "도시 및 주거환경정비법"을 통한 주거지정비사업을 시행하고 있다. 하지만, 최근 경제성장 하락을 포함한 다양한 요소가 복합적으로 작용하여 정비사업 추진은 난항을 겪고 있다. 정비사업의 추진실적이 저조함에 따라, 그 원인을 규명하여 사업의 추진성을 향상시키고자 다양한 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 이러한 연구의 동향에서, 본 연구는 부산시를 대상으로 토지 및 건축물특성에 따른 정비사업 추진 분석을 진행하였다. 분석 간 종속변수는 "도시 및 주거환경정비법"에서 명시하는 바와 같이, 추진단계를 종합적 단계적으로 구성하였다. 그리고 정비(예정)구역 지정 시 기준이 되는 토지 및 건축물특성을 독립변수로 설정하였다. 순서형로짓모형을 통해 이를 분석하였으며, 지형적 여건, 조합원 수와 관련된 요인, 분양가에 영향을 미치는 요인, 입지적 여건이 사업 추진에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 추정되었다. 분석결과를 종합하면, 다수의 요인이 사업의 경제성과 연관되어있음을 알 수 있다. 노후불량주거지에 대한 도시계획사업의 일환으로 진행되는 주거지정비사업은 공공성이 요구되는 사업인 만큼, 단순 사업의 경제성과 연관된 요인에 편중되기보다 해당 정비구역의 주거환경을 고려하여 정비 시급성에 의한 사업추진이 필요해 보인다. 이에 따라, 신속하고 합리적인 사업 추진을 당부하는 바이며, 사업추진 지연에 따른 행정적 경제적 손실 등을 미연에 방지해야 할 것이다.

시계열 Landsat 위성영상을 활용한 도시 열섬 현상 완화 방안에 관한 연구 - 청라 국제도시를 중심으로 - (A Study on Mitigation Plan of Urban Heat Island Phenomenon Using Landsat Time Series Imagery - Focusing on Cheongna International City -)

  • 간척사업을 통해 개발된 지역은 농지 및 도심지 개발 등과 같은 용지 공급 측면에서 경제적 효용가치가 크지만, 내륙에 위치하는 대도시에 비하여 상대적으로 초지 면적이 적고 건물이 밀집되어 있다는 특성이 존재한다. 이로 인해 간척사업을 통해 개발된 지역에서는 기온이 주변 지역보다 높아지는 도시 열섬 현상이 발생하고 있으며, 특히 간척사업을 통해 개발된 청라 국제도시는 도시 열섬 현상이 심화 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 간척사업 이후 농경지 기간(2001-2008년), 개발정비 기간(2009-2013년), 인공초지조성 기간(2014-2020년)으로 분류하여 청라 국제도시의 도시 열섬 현상을 평가 및 분석하였다. 이를 위해 토지 피복도와 시계열 Landsat 위성영상을 활용하여 청라 국제도시에서 시가화 지역과 초지/산림지역의 지표면 온도 차이를 산정하였다. 시가화 지역과 초지/산림지역의 지표면 온도 차이는 농경지 기간 동안 최대 +1.05℃로 산출되었고, 개발정비 기간 동안 최대 +3.60℃로 산출되었으며, 인공초지 조성 기간 동안 최대 +2.51℃로 산출되었다. 본 연구결과를 통해 간척사업이 진행된 청라 국제도시에서 시가화 지역 면적이 증가할 때 도시 열섬 현상이 증가되며, 인공초지 면적이 증가할 때 도시 열섬 현상이 저감됨을 확인하였다. 본 논문의 결과는 도시계획에 있어 도시 열섬 현상 문제를 파악하고 저감 계획 수립을 위한 기초연구 자료로 활용될 수 있다.

  • This study aims to analyze characteristics of residents' housing life-style targeting Gatdui area and Daean area where the housing environment improvement project is carried out in the form of rehabilitation housing renewal program of old residence of the downtown area in Kyungju. This is in order to examine realistic problems of the method of residential improvement project, where residents' voluntary participation and preferences are low for low-income residents by seeking the methods of rehabilitation which correspond with the fundamental objective of the housing environment improvement project for low-income residents in urban areas. Based on the survey, we analyzed residents' satisfaction level with the current way of living and preferred ways of living and the planar pattern of houses in surveyed areas, and examined the housing environment improvement methods for residents living in the urban slam areas and perception of subjects. Survey analysis used statistics program SPSS14.0. As a result, of it, it was found that residents in surveyed areas were relatively satisfied with the current way of living but in the preferred housing life-style, they were demanding some change. This paper is significant in that it aims at change in paradigm of improvement of residential areas through renewal of urban deteriorated residence that characteristics of changing living space are compromised depending on living habitude left, and changing life style, and it proposes the directions of the housing environment improvement plan in the future.

개발사업지구의 공원 · 녹지 유형별 탄소효과 원단위 산정에 관한 기초연구 (A Study of Estimation of Carbon Effects per Unit Area by Park & Green Type in Development Project Area)

  • This study is aimed to provide basic data for the estimation of carbon effects in development project areas such as Happy Housing Project which includes redevelopment and reconstruction projects by inducing the basic unit of carbon effects and strategic planning and management to enhance carbon effects. According to the analysis, in urban parks, carbon uptake and carbon storage by the unit area of living area parks were $7.614kg/m^2$ and $18.5203kg/m^2$ respectively while carbon uptake and carbon storage by the unit area of theme parks were $1.2261kg/m^2$ and $2.831kg/m^2$ each. In facility greens, carbon uptake and carbon storage were $0.5683kg/m^2$ and $0.6636kg/m^2$ respectively while they were $10.77kg/m^2$ and $13.69kg/m^2$ individually in other urban planning facilities. In other greens, on the contrary, carbon uptake and carbon storage were $0.45kg/m^2$ and $1.02kg/m^2$ respectively. In site landscape, carbon uptake and carbon storage by the unit area of apartment landscape were $3.7394kg/m^2$ and $9.2292kg/m^2$ each.

  • 도시개발에 있어 도로의 건설은 교통의 목적 외에 전기, 가스, 통신, 난방, 하수, 상수, 오수 등의 도시 편의시설을 위한 공간으로도 활용되고 있다. 하지만 현재 도로 시공과정에서 각 기능에 따른 관련 주체들이 진행되는 공사수행일정에 대한 의사소통이 충분히 이루어지지 않아 재굴착 작업이 빈번히 이루어지고 있으며 이로 인해 예산의 중복투입, 공사기간 지연, 품질저하, 이용자의 불편 등 여러 가지 문제점들이 나타나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 신도시 개발과 같은 대규모의 프로젝트에서 도로 재굴착으로 인한 문제를 사전에 예방하기 위해 시간과 공간데이터를 활용한 재굴착 방지 프로세스 모델을 개발하였으며, 이를 활용하여 도시기반시설 건설주체간 원활한 협의를 돕기 위한 재굴착방지시스템을 개발하였다. 아울러, 개발된 시스템을 개발중인 신도시 건설사업에 활용하여 그 적용성을 검토하였다.

  • The threads of this thesis are several theoretical issues of modern urban ideals. Modern architects and urban designers conceived their individual artifacts, which assumed to be laid out on the new settings totally different from the existing urban fabrics derived from inherently medieval ones. In the discussion of modern ideal society, the Industrial Revolution and the Enlightenment was a pivotal point. Innovations in technology and expanded living territories since the double revolution have been critical factors in the evolution of new ideas of urbanism. The tremendous success in science and technology led a way to the 'science-fiction' environment as a destined apocalyptic world. The dream, whether it was socialist or in any other believes, to a pastoral utopia beyond the capitalist society was represented through the ideal cities, which were modern versions of arcadia in the other approaches. Two sides of revolutionary ideas are presented as a futurist city and a garden city, which are on the separate notions but co-existed or overlapped in a single urban project such as in Le Corbusier urban schemes or even Tchumi's recent work, Parc de la Villette. Urban ideas in the twentieth century are based on urban naturalism, the notion of which was consistant from abbe Laugier to Le Corbusier, as well as machine aesthetics interpreted in terms of archeological research and modern technology.

Landsat 열적외 영상자료를 활용한 대전시 열 환경 변화 모니터링 (Monitoring of Urban Thermal Environment Change in Daejun Using Landsat TIR Satellite Data)

  • This purpose of this work is to explore the characteristics of urban thermal environment distribution with the case of Daejeon. To do that, this work applied GIS Spatial Statistics to the LandSAT images gathered from 2000 to 2011. The urban thermal environment distribution at the time point of 2 showed high spatial autocorrelation. Therefore, it is judged that spatial autocorrelation is needed to increase the reliability and explanatory power of the characteristics of thermal environment distribution. In the case of the thermal in Daejeon, its positive clustering appeared high at the time point of 2, and its clustering in 2011 more gradually decreased than that in 2000 to 2011. In particular, given the decrease in the core H-H region, it was found that the thermal environment of Daejeon was greatly improved. However, since the rise in the region L-L means another changed like construction of a new city, it is judged that it is necessary to come up with a proper plan. It is considered that this analysis of the characteristics of urban thermal environment distribution in consideration of spatial autocorrelation L-L be useful for providing a fundamental material necessary for the policy and project of thermal environment improvement.

  • 본 연구는 국내에서 경쟁적으로 추진되고 있는 u-City 구축사업의 지원 및 국가경쟁력 강화를 위한 선도적 기술개발을 목표로 진행되고 있는 지능형국토정보기술혁신사업의 일부 내용으로, 새로운 도시환경인 u-City에서의 도시지상시설물 관리 모델을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 국내 시설물관리시스템의 발전과정과 국내에서 추진되고 있는 u-City 사업들을 조사함으로써 u-City에서의 도시시설물관리시스템의 방향과 필수요소, 고려사항 등을 도출하였으며, 이를 근거로 u-City에 적합한 도시시설물 관리 모델을 제시하였다.

Analysis of the Effects of Walking Environment Components on Pedestrian Satisfaction and Dissatisfaction

  • Unsatisfactory urban walking environment stresses urban residents, and may cause mental illness and chronic diseases by reducing walking activities. Therefore, establishing a high-quality walking environment that can promote walking activities in urban residents has emerged as an important issue. The walking environment consists of various components, such as trees, stairs, streetlights, benches, signs, fences, and facilities, and it is essential to understand which components and their settings act as satisfiers or dissatisfiers for pedestrians, to create a better quality walking environment. Therefore, this study investigated pedestrian satisfaction and dissatisfaction as a function of various environmental components through a survey using walking environment images. The results revealed that most of the walking environment components except the braille block and treezone exhibited significant correlations with pedestrian satisfaction. Particularly, safety-related component (e.g., adjacent roads, parked cars, traffic cushions, and car separation), and landscape-related components (e.g., trees and green), as well as the material settings of landscape facilities (e.g., wooden fences, benches, stairs, and walkway surfaces) correlated with pedestrian satisfaction. The results of this study can contribute to the extraction of useful features to evaluate pedestrian satisfaction as a function of the walking environment. The research outcome is expected to assist in the effective arrangement of walking environment components and their settings, which will ultimately contribute to significantly satisfactory walking environment and encourage walking activities.
