  • In this paper, a CR(Cognitive Radio) based on SDR(Software Defined Radio) is the technology combined a method selecting available frequency by recognizing surroundings with a learning algorithm continuously updating basic functions for communication and various environment parameters. Recently, as increasing demands with development of wireless communication service, CR is in the spotlight as technology using frequency resource efficiently. In order to apply CR system to the terminal and implement it, the research field to be preceded can be divided large as a hardware part and a software part. It can be also divided into RF processing and digital signal processing in the hardware part. In this paper, we look over preceding techniques required for applying CR system to the terminal, and research the forms of the terminal when they practically apply to the terminal.

  • Cloud computing has rapidly become a new infrastructure for organizations to reduce their capital cost in IT investment and to develop planetary-scale distributed applications. One of the fundamental challenges in geographically distributed clouds is to provide efficient algorithms for supporting inter-cloud data management and dissemination. In this paper, we propose a geographic group quorum system (GGQS)-based hybrid algorithm for improving the interoperability of inter-cloud in time-critical event dissemination service, such as computing policy updating, message sharing, event notification and so forth. The proposed algorithm first organizes these distributed clouds into a geographic group quorum overlay to support a constant event dissemination latency. Then it uses a hybrid protocol that combines geographic group-based broad-cast with quorum-based multicast. Our numerical results show that the GGQS-based hybrid algorithm improves the efficiency as compared with Chord-based, Plume an GQS-based algorithms.

  • We propose an efficient method for updating the inverse of the signature waveform cross-correlations (SWC) matrix when the number of users in the synchronous direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS/CDMA) system changes. It is shown that the computational complexity of the proposed method is $O(n^2)$ in which n represents the number of active users in the system.

  • The study on the updating of the database of Geo-Spatial Information System that is necessary condition to GSIS operation have executed actively. In this study, digital orthophotos were produced by using the product of digital photogrammetry process and then multiscale digital orthophoto maps were generated tv the concept of image pyramids. The produced digital orthophoto has 2.092 meters accuracy compared to 1:5,000 topographic map. This digital orthophoto can be implemented in various Geo-Spatial Information System, providing valuable spatial reference for other objects in the database.

  • For the purpose of developing a vibration-based tension force evaluation procedure for hangers in suspension bridges, a 3D finite element model of hangers is constructed in this paper. With the developed finite element formulation, a frequency-based sensitivity-updating algorithm is applied to identify the target cable system the proposed method is also able to identify the flexural rigidity. the axial rigidity, and the torsion rigidity of a cable. For a field application, a vibration test on hangers of the Yong Jong Grand Suspension Bridge is carried out and the collected data is used to verify the proposed method.

  • An equivalent linearization technique based on Rayleigh peak distribution for friction damper and brace system (FDBS) under stochastic excitation is proposed. For verification, shaking table test of a small scale 3-story building model with the FDBS is conducted for various slip moment levels. Using experimental result, equivalent linearization of the FDBS is conducted based on Rayleigh peak distribution, which is compared with measured peak distribution. For comparative study, model updating technique is applied based on identified modal properties. Finally, complex modal analysis and time history analysis for the obtained equivalent linear systems are conducted and compared with experimental result.

  • Belief revision involves integrating new information with the current belief. It is a ubiquitous human activity. A critical feature of belief revision lies in its sequential nature. Railroad system can be described as organic. Engine drivers take a great role in this system. Recently, Hogarth and Einhorn(1992) have posited a belief-adjustment model for updating beliefs. Based on a sequential anchoring and adjustment strategy, the model is important for decision makers. The sequential nature of information processing is affected by some task variables. The purpose of this study is to examin factors which influnce on the Enginr Driver's belief revision process. The factors are the order, experience and task. The difference of belief revision is due to the order and experience level.

  • This paper presents ETRI broadcast news speech recognition system. There are two major issues on the broadcast news speech recognition: 1) real-time processing and 2) out-of-vocabulary handling. For real-time processing, we devised the dual decoder architecture. The input speech signal is segmented based on the long-pause between utterances, and each decoder processes the speech segment alternatively. One decoder can start to recognize the current speech segment without waiting for the other decoder to recognize the previous speech segment completely. Thus, the processing delay is not accumulated. For out-of-vocabulary handling, we updated both the vocabulary and the language model, based on the recent news articles on the internet. By updating the language model as well as the vocabulary, we can improve the performance up to 17.2% ERR.

  • Diameter distributions describe forest stand structure information. Prediction equations for percentiles of diameter distribution and parameter recovery procedures for the Weibull distribution function based on four percentile equations were applied to develop prediction system of even-aged slash pine stand structure development in terms of the number of stems per diameter class changes. Four percentiles of the cumulative diameter distribution were predicted as a function of stand characteristics. The predicted diameter distributions were tested against the observed diameter distributions using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov two sample test at the ${\alpha}$=0.05 level. Statistically, no significant differences were detected based on the data from 236 evaluation data sets. This stand level diameter distribution prediction system will be useful in slash pine stand structure modeling and in updating forest inventories for the long-term forest management planning.

  • This paper presents a topological shape optimization for electromagnetic system using a level set method. The optimization is progressed by updating the implicit level set function from the Hamilton-Jacobi equation. The up-wind scheme is used for numerical implementation of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation. In order to validate the proposed optimization, the core part of a C-core actuator is optimized by three cases using different materials; (single steel), (two steels), and (steel and magnet).
