In modern society, the use of small rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicles such as drones is increasing. As the military considers tactics using drones, demand for drones is increasing. However, there is still no airworthiness certification standard for drones for safety. In this paper, we proposed airworthiness certification standards for small rotorcraft unmanned aerial vehicles based on CS-LURS in Europe and STANG-4703, 4738 (draft) of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. In addition, airworthiness certification standards have been strengthened through the case of unmanned aerial vehicle accidents in operation by the Korean military. The airworthiness certification standards for small rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicles will be supplemented through a demonstration project.
With the development of information and communication technology, the unmanned aerial vehicle industry began to attract attention as a new growth industry as it entered the fourth industrial revolution. As the size of the unmanned aerial vehicles and the scope of airspace vary from small drones to large unmanned aerial vehicles, the developed countries such as USA and Europe are developing plans for the integrated operation of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. ICAO is also working on amendments to the relevant ICAO annexes to establish international standards and recommendations for unmanned aerial vehicles. Korea also needs to prepare for the integrated operation of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles that will come in the future, and for this purpose, it is necessary to review and revise the national regulation systems for the safe operation of unmanned aerial vehicles. This study analyzes the amendments of related annexes discussed on the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) pannel, and suggests the direction of revision of the Aviation Safety Act for the safe operation of unmanned aerial vehicles in comparison with the existing Aviation Safety Act.
Currently drone industry has become one of the fast growing markets and the technology for unmanned aerial vehicles are expected to continue to develop at a rapid rate. Especially small unmanned aerial vehicle systems have been designed and utilized for the various field with their own specific purposes. In these fields the path planning problem to find the shortest path between two oriented points is important. In this paper we introduce a path planning strategy for an autonomous flight of unmanned aerial vehicles through reinforcement learning with self-positioning technique. We perform Q-learning algorithm, a kind of reinforcement learning algorithm. At the same time, multi sensors of acceleraion sensor, gyro sensor, and magnetic are used to estimate the position. For the functional evaluation, the proposed method was simulated with virtual UAV environment and visualized the results. The flight history was based on a PX4 based drones system equipped with a smartphone.
With the possibility of wireless control of the aircraft by Nicola Tesla, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) was mainly used for military and defense purposes with the rapid development through World War I and II. As civilian applications of unmanned aerial vehicles have expanded, they have been used with various services, and attempts have been made to control various environmental changes and risk factors of unmanned aerial vehicles. However, GPS spoofing, Jamming attack and security accidents are occurring due to the communication in the unmaned aerial vehicle system or the security vulnerability of the unmanned aerial vehicle itself. In order to secure introduction of Unmanned aerial vehicle, South Korea has established Unmanned Aerial Vehicle verification system called Airworthiness Certification. However, the existing cerfication system is more focused on test flight, design and structure's safety and reliability. In this paper, we propose a unmanned aerial vehicle system model and propose security functional requirements on unmanned aerial vehicle system in the corresponding system model for secure-introduction of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. We suggest the development direction of verification technology. From this proposal, future development directions of evaluation and verification technology of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle will be presented.

Recently, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency(DARPA) in the United States is studying a new concept of war called Mosaic Warfare, and MUM-T(Manned-Unmanned Teaming) through the division of missions between expensive manned and inexpensive unmanned aircraft is at the center. This study began with the aim of deriving the priority of autonomous functions according to the role of unmanned aerial vehicles in the present and present collaboration that is emerging along with the concept of mosaic warfare. The autonomous function of unmanned aerial vehicles between the presence and absence collaboration may vary in priority depending on the tactical operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, and surveillance and reconnaissance. In this paper, ACE (Air Combat Evaluation), Skyborg, and Longshot, which are recently studied by DARPA, derive the priority of autonomous functions according to air-to-air collaboration, and use AHP analysis. The results of this study are meaningful in that it is possible to recognize the priorities of autonomous functions necessary for unmanned aircraft in order to develop unmanned aerial vehicles according to the priority of autonomous functions and to construct a roadmap for technology implementation. Furthermore, it is believed that the mass production and utilization of unmanned air vehicles will increase if one unmanned air vehicle platform with only essential functions necessary for air-to-air, air-to-air, and surveillance is developed and autonomous functions are expanded in the form of modules according to the tactical operation concept.

As the use of unmanned aerial vehicles increases, in order to expand the operability of the unmanned aerial vehicle, it is essential to develop an unmanned aerial vehicle traffic management system, and to establish the system, it is necessary to analyze the integrated navigation performance of the unmanned aerial vehicle to be operated. Integrated navigation performance is affected by various factors such as the type of unmanned aerial vehicle, flight environment, and guidance law algorithm. In addition, since a large amount of flight data is required to obtain high-reliability analysis results, efficient and consistent flight scenarios are required. In this paper, a flight scenario that satisfies the requirements for integrated navigation performance analysis of rotary and fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles was designed and verified through flight experiments.

This paper presents a landing controller and guidance law for net-recovery of fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles. A linear quadratic controller was designed using the system identification result of the unmanned aerial vehicle. A pursuit guidance law is applied to guide the vehicle to a recovery net with imaginary landing points on the desired approach path. The landing performance of a pure pursuit guidance, a constant pseudo pursuit guidance, and a variable pseudo pursuit guidance is compared. Numerical simulation using an unmanned aerial vehicle model was performed to verify the performance of the proposed landing guidance law.

With the fast growing popularity of small UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), recent UAV systems have been designed and utilized for the various field with their own specific purposes. UAVs are opening up many new opportunities in the fields of electronics, sensors, camera, and software for pilots. Increase in awareness and mission capabilities of UAVs are driving innovations and new applications driven with the help of low cost and its capability in undertaking high threat task. In particular, small unmanned aerial vehicles should fly in environments with high probability of unexpected sudden change or obstacle appearance in low altitude situations. In this paper, current researches regarding techniques of autonomous flight of smal UAV systems are introduced and we propose a draft idea for planning paths for small unmanned aerial vehicles in adversarial environments to arrive at the given target safely with low cost sensors.
As Unmanned Aerial Vehicles technology has been widespread, various types of unmanned aircraft and mission equipment have been developed in line with mission diversification. Especially in Korea, small unmanned aerial vehicles have been actively developed. In addition, flight control system and mission equipment interface system for effective control of small unmanned aerial vehicles, efficient communication system configuration and operation for transmission to ground operated systems by processing data are required. This paper addresses efficient system structure and operation of communication equipment for missions and control of small unmanned aerial vehicles.

An unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) refers to an aircraft that has all or part of its functions to autonomously fly by grasping the surrounding environment by remote control on the ground without a pilot on board. With the development of unmanned aerial technology, civil/military forces are developing unmanned aerial vehicles for various purposes. In order to control unmanned aerial vehicles from the ground, communication protocols between unmanned aerial vehicles and ground control equipment are required, and civil/military forces have developed and used a photocall for different purposes. In this study, the characteristics of the MAVLink protocol used in the private sector and the STANAG 4586 protocol used in the military are compared/analyzed in detail to find elements to complement each other and to draw improvement measures for protocol unification.
