This paper presents a new class of microstrip slow-wave open-loop resonator filters with reduced size and improved stopband characteristics. A comprehensive treatment of both ends loaded with triangular and rectangular ends is described, leading to the invention of a microstrip slow-wave open-loop resonator. Two-resonator and four-resonator bandpass filters are designed at the operating frequency of about 2 GHz, and a bandwidth of 60 MHz. The size of the slow-wave open-loop resonator is optimized from the standpoint of the unloaded Q-factor. The filters are not only compact in size due to the slow-wave effect, but also have a wider upper stopband resulting from the dispersion effect. The filter designs of this type are described in details. The experimental results are demonstrated and discussed.

We investigated the phase noise of an oscillator with a extremely high-Q resonator used as the resonant element. A TE$_{011}$ mode rutile-loaded resonator with high-temperature superconductive (HTS) $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$(YBCO) films used as the endplates is prepared for this purpose. At 23.5 K, the unloaded Q and the loaded Q are 863000 and 180000, respectively. The phase noise of -104.8 dBc/Hz at 1 KHz offset was observed for the oscillator having a resonator with $Q_{L}$ =180000 at the $TE_{01\delta$ mode resonant frequency of 8.545 GHz at 23.5 K Such oscillators with very low phase noise are expected to be used for building up communication systems capable of efficient use of the frequency band and high-speed data transmission as well as for Doppler radars. Frequency tuning could be realized for the resonator by using a piezoactuator Applicability of the tunable rutile resonator for fabricating tunable oscillators of high performances is discussed.
The microwave dielectric properties of (1-x)La2/3TiO3-xLaAlO3 system in which LaAlO3 having $\varepsilon$r$\geq$90 and positive $\tau$f was investigated. The crystal system of (1-x)La2/3TiO3-xLaAlO3 was pseudo-cubic in the range of 0.1$\leq$x$\leq$0.07. Its lattice constant increased with increasing x in spite that the amount of LaAlO3 containing of smaller Al(0.57 $\AA$) ion than Ti(0.64 $\AA$) increased. As the amount of LaAlO3 increased from x=0.1 to 0.9, the relative dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$r) decreased from 50 to 23 and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency($\tau$f) decreased from +84 to -50. On the other hand, the value of Q.f0 reached a maximum (148,000 at 7 GHz) at x=0.7, where a rapid increase in the peak intensity of XRD occured, and further increased after prolonged sintering. The microwave dielectric properties of $\varepsilon$r=37, Q.f0=47,000 (at 7 GHz), and $\tau$f=-2 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ were obtained near 0.6La2/3TiO3-0.4LaAlO3 (x=0.4) composition.
At container terminals, a major measurement of productivity can be work-efficiency in quay-side. At the apron, containers are loaded onto the ship and unloaded to apron by Q/C(Quay Crane). For improving the productivity of quay crane, the more efficient Y/T(Yard Tractor) operation method is necessary in container terminals. Between quay-side and yard area, current transferring methods is single-cycling which doesn't start loading unless it finishes unloading. Dual-cycling is a technique that can be used to improve the productivity of quay-side and utility of yard tractor by ship loading and unloading simultaneously. Using the dual-cycling at terminals only necessitates an operational change without purchasing extra equipment. Exactly, Y/T operation method has to be changed the dedicate system to pooling system. This paper presents an efficient ship loading and unloading plan in container terminals, which use the dual-cycling. We propose genetic and tabu search algorithm for this problem.

Since unloaded Q-value of a high-temperature superconductor(HTS) filter is very high, a bandpass filter(BPF) and a lowpass filter(LPF) with an increase of pole numbers can be fabricated without an increase of an insertion loss(IL) ; recently a 70-pole BPF is developed in USA. They have an abrupt skirt property and an excellent attenuation level for out-of band. Moreover, they can be miniaturized when lumped element resonators or the slow-wave characteristic are used. Technology of fabricating a HTS epitaxial film as well as a film of a 4 inch area also makes the planar type filter with a various structure and an enhanced power handling capability possible. Recently, the HTS filter subsystems composed of a planar-type HTS filters, a GaAs-based LNA and a mini-cryocooler are developed. The extended receiver front- end subsystems for mobile radio communications decrease the noise-figure level of the communication system and the frequency interference interacted adjacent bands, and increase the efficiency of frequency and the capacity of communication system. In this paper, theory for developing the HTS filter, its kinds, its design rules, its characteristics are reviewed. The feature of the research and market trends related to the HTS filter systems for the receiver front-end subsystem of mobile base station are surveyed.

The temperature and the composition dependence of the dielectric properties of the solid solution materials in the system $xBa(Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}\[BZN]-(1-x)\Sr(Zn_{1/3}Nb{2/3)O_{3}\[SZN]$ at microwave frequency was studied. The dielectric constant and unloaded Q were $40.5{\pm}0.5,5980{\pm}100$ respectively for BZN at 10 GHz and $36.9{\pm}0.5,2700{\pm}100$ for SZN at 10.2GHz. The temperature coefficient of the resonant frequency was $+27.5ppm/{\circ}C$ for BZN and $-39.1ppm/{\circ}C$ for SZN. The results also showed that 0.3 BZN-0.7 SZN is the most temperature-stable composition among xBZN-(1-x) SZN solid solutions. In this case, the dielectric constant, the unloaded Q and $\tau_{f}$ at 9.8GHz were $41.5{\pm}0.2,2920{\pm}100$ and $-3.5ppm/{\circ}C$, respectively.
The objective of this study was to describe a radiofrequency (RF) coil design for in vivo sodium magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for use in small animals. Accumulating evidence has indicated the importance and potential of sodium imaging with improved magnet strength (> 7T), faster gradient, better hardware, multi-nucleus imaging methods, and optimal coil design for patient and animal studies. Thus, we developed a saddle-shaped sodium volume coil with a diameter/length of 30/30 mm. To evaluate the efficiency of this coil, bench-level measurement was performed. Unloaded Q value, loaded Q value, and ratio of these two values were estimated to be 352.8, 211.18, and 1.67, respectively. Thereafter, in vivo acquisition of sodium images was performed using normal mice (12 weeks old; n = 5) with a two-dimensional gradient echo sequence and minimized echo time to increase spatial resolution of images. Sodium signal-to-noise ratio in mouse kidneys (renal cortex, medulla, and pelvis) was measured. We successfully acquired sodium MR images of the mouse kidney with high spatial resolution (approximately 0.625 mm) through a combination of sodium-proton coils.

In this study, Sintering behavior, Crystallographic structure, Microwave Dielectric properties of the nonstoichiometric Ba$\_$1-x/(Zn$\_$1/3/Ta$\_$2/3/)O$_3$with 0 x 0.04 were investigated. A small amount(lmol%) of MnO$_2$is doped to the sample to complete the sintering. The degree of Zn and Ta ordering in B site and Lattice distortion were promoted by reducing Ba concentration. At x=0.01, Unloaded Q value reached above 7500 (at 10.5 GHZ) ; however, above x=0.01, Q value was greatly decreased, in spite of saturation in Zn-Ta ordering. At x=0.01, The Dielectric constant was 30 at 10.5GHz. and The Temperature Coefficient was estimated as 2ppm/$^{\circ}C$.
Sapphire resonators with $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$ (YBCO) endplates have provided a way to realize extremely high quality factor due to the extremely low dielectric loss of sapphire and conductive loss of YBCO films, which enables to measure the low surface resistance of superconductor films at microwave frequencies. We present microwave properties of HTS sapphire resonators designed for measuring the surface resistance of HTS films at millimeter-wave frequencies by using the two-resonance mode dielectric resonator method. Despite enhanced surface resistance ($R_S$) of YBCO films due to the quadratic frequency dependence of the $R_S$, the unloaded quality factor ($Q_0$) of the $TE_{021}$ mode sapphire resonator still appears to be well above $1\;{\times}\;10^6$ at a mm-wave frequency of 38 GHz at 10 K. However, it appears that the $TE_{012}$ mode $Q_0$ is unexpectedly low despite that the corresponding resonance peak looks uncoupled with parasitic modes. We discuss possible reasons for the unexpected results using the surface resistance at the $TE_{021}$, $TE_{012}$, and $TE_{011}$ mode frequencies.

Measurements of surface resistance ($R_s$) of high temperature superconductor (HTS) films with accuracy are essential for microwave applications of HTS materials. In using the dielectric resonator method, uncertainties in the unloaded quality factor of the resonator cause significant errors in the measured $R_s$ of HTS films. We compare the Rs values of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ films calculated from the $Q_0$ as determined from the Lorentzian fit with that from the $Q_0$ as determined from the S-parameter circle-fit at temperatures between 15 K and 77 K. The two sets of values appeared to differ by 5%, 7%, 6%, and 11% at temperatures of 15, 60, 70, and 77 K, respectively, from each other, implying that careful error analysis needs to be performed in obtaining the $R_s$ of HTS films by using the Lorentzian-fit method, with the ones determined from the S-parameter circle-fit used as the reference.
