  • Purpose : This study aims to examine the effect of ego resilience and social support on test anxiety for university students majoring in occupational therapy and use the results as foundational data for program development that can reduce test anxiety. Methods : The study's subjects were 173 university students who understood the study's purpose and consented to participate in the study from March 7 to 25 in 2022. These students were in their second, third, and fourth years, majoring in occupational therapy at a four-year B university in A Metropolitan City and a three-year E College in D-gun C Province. Among them, those with missing data or indicated extreme values were excluded, and data from the final 168 students were studied. Results : The averages of test anxiety, ego resilience, and social support of university students majoring in occupational therapy were 3.06, 3.41, and 3.81, respectively. The factor that affected test anxiety was investigated. It was the school year in which the test anxiety of fourth-year students was significantly higher than that of second-year students. In addition, a positive attitude, which was one of the sub-factors of ego resilience, and support from friends and family, which were the sub-factors of social support, had a negative impact on test anxiety. Conclusion : The results of this study are as follows: First, it is necessary to conduct a study to verify the level of test anxiety of university students majoring in occupational therapy and the factors influencing them. Second, the operation and consultation of non-curricular programs that improve the ego resilience of university students should be conducted in universities and departments. Third, a measure to recognize support from surrounding environment and to ask for help from people around them should be required for university students majoring in occupational therapy.

Methods: A survey was conducted for 500 college students in three towns in Gang-won Province. Frequency analysis was used for demographic item and group regression analysis for effects of drinking motives on binge drinking. Results: Sub-factor-uplift motives, social motives, coping motives and tuning motives were analyzed. It was found that uplift motives, social motives and coping motives influenced binge drinking significantly(p<0.001). But tuning motives had no significant effect. Also for male students, uplift motives affected binge drinking significantly(p<0.001) whereas female students were not affected by it. In contrast, social motives had an influence on binge drinking significantly (0<0.001) for female students while it didn't affect male students. Coping motives affected both male and female students on binge drinking by p<0.001. Conclusions: College students' drinking motives had a significant influence on binge drinking, and since it is reported that there is difference between male and female student group, a guideline and education for drinking regarding gender difference is needed for the establishment of desirable drinking culture for college students.

  • This study investigated whether writing weekly listening logs could influence college English learners' metacognitive awareness and listening proficiency. In addition, the Metacognitive Awareness Listening Questionnaire (MALQ) was applied to examine the learners' knowledge of their listening process. It is process-oriented research conducted by analyzing the MALQ and students' listening logs as to how their metacognitive awareness and listening proficiency have changed during the semester. Eighty-nine students who took an English listening practice course at a university participated in this study. The research findings are as follows. First, it turned out that there was a significant relationship between EFL university students' listening comprehension and some subscales of metacognitive awareness. Second, the students had an opportunity to reflect on learning through regular listening activities, and weekly listening logs, which included important information about listening process and practice. Third, as the students' listening proficiency increased at the end of the semester, it was found that introducing listening logs along with classroom lessons helped the students improve their listening ability. Finally, the high proficiency group students used multiple strategies simultaneously, regardless of the type of listening strategies, while the low proficiency group students used one or two limited listening strategies. However, the low proficiency group students may have had trouble expressing their ideas in English or recognizing the listening strategies they used, not because they did not use a lot of listening strategies. Therefore, teachers should regularly check if students are following their instructions and help them use appropriate strategies for better understanding.

  • The study was performed to investigate the relationship of regular exercise to body composition and nutrient intakes of male college students by comparing anthropometric measurements and one-day dietary intakes by 24-hour recall of physical education (PE) majors and non-major male college students. The subjects were 253 students residing in the Gyeonggi area. Only 64.1% and 32.1% of PE majors and non-major students exercised over 4 times a week and PE major students did stronger exercise than the non-major students did. Mean BMI and WHR (Waist Hip Ratio) of the two groups were not different. But percentages of body fat and lean body mass in PE major students were lower and higher, respectively, than those of non-major students. PE major students consumed significantly more energy and other nutrients except iron, niacin, vitamin C, and vitamin E than non-major students. Nutrients consumed less than KRDA was calcium in PE major students and energy, calcium, zinc, vitamin $B_{12}$, folate, and vitamin C in non-major students. Mean adequacy ratio (MAR) of PE major students (1.00) was significantly higher than that of non-major students (0.94). Index of Nutritional Quality (INQ) of all nutrients except vitamin A of PE major students was also significantly higher than that of non-major students. Nutrients below 1.00 in INQ of both groups were calcium, zinc, vitamin B2, and folate. Our data supports that regular exercise may positively influence on body composition and increase diet quality in male college students. Therefore, an educational program focused on regular exercise along with proper dietary behavior would be needed.
