  • With the recent increase in private universities being closed due to a decrease in the number of students, the importance of records management at schools is also increasing. However, the guidelines for records management at closed private universities are ambiguous, causing confusion in the transfer of records and management. Therefore, this study conducted a literature survey on university records and institutions, and examined the current status of private universities in schools through education statistics services. Among the surveyed private universities, the latest to be closed, and the largest of them was Suh Nam University, which looked at the detailed records management status of private schools. The purpose of the interview was to analyze the results of the interview and draw up implications and propose improvement measures. First, the proposed improvement plan in this study is to make it mandatory to deploy records management specialists at private universities for specialized records management. Second, the law should be revised to improve the ambiguity of private universities' guidelines. Third, continuous support from higher institutions should be ensured so that records management at closed private universities is not passive. This improvement will enable records management at closed private universities to be carried out efficiently when the future closure of private universities is carried out.

  • The purpose of this study is to infer how is the effect of a governmental funding project to graduate schools by taking an example of World Class University Project's potential impact on the change of world university rankings in an international university ranking survey. Systematic results show that WCU contributes to improving academic peer reviews for both individual and institutional standings and discipline-based rankings. The potential effect of improving world rankings of participating universities could be ascribed to relatively higher weight of the survey to international peer review and invitation of world class scholars to the participating universities, which is a core device of the project. This implies a need to affirmatively utilize WCU foreign scholars over the course of facilitating international academic networking. The results should also be taken into consideration by universities and the government when developing evaluation systems and restructuring the project.

  • The study aims present data collection on the current state of safety and safety consciousness in universities' laboratories to verify the relation between investigation factors and further draw implications. The first finding is that laboratories with high risk level do not have better safety management performance than those with lower risk level. Secondly, labs that experienced accidents has a higher level of control than those without any. Regarding to the university's acceptance of safety requirements, the group with a high level of risk awareness or accidents were concerned that their universities did not provide sufficient support in safety management. It means that safety is low on the list of priorities in Universities' overall agenda and individual labs are responsible of their own safety. Most of the causes of accidents in the labs are man-made than physical errors. It requires that continuous safety educations and measures through safe research activities are means to eliminate and reduce the individual's safety frigidity. Through the survey, it is known that current education's system and contents are too generalized to reflect the characteristics of each laboratory. Thus, it is difficult to recognize various risk situations and to actually prevent safety accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to shift to customized curriculum and system for various major fields.

  • Universities in Korea have driven universities' new attempts to adopt more learner-centered and active learning in English. Problem-based Learning (PBL) is one of the well-known constructive teaching and learning methodologies in higher education. Our research goal was to design and develop the optimal PBL practices for a college physics course taught in English to promote learning and course satisfaction. For four semesters, we have tried and adjusted PBL components, and looked at the trend of the exam scores and group work achievement in each semester. We found that the number of problems and the duration of problem solving are the critical factors that influence the effect of PBL in a college physics course taught in English by going through iterative implementation. The iterative process of applying, designing, and constructing PBL to physics classes was meaningful not only in that we have found the optimal PBL model for learning a college physics course, but also in that we have been reflecting on the continuous interaction with learners during the course.

Methods: The subjects were 211 nursing students recruited from 2 universities. Data were collected with a structured self-report questionnaire comprising measures of environmental consciousness, and knowledge of and attitude toward medical waste. Data analysis was conducted with the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: A total of 211 copies of the questionnaire were used for the final analysis, except for 9 untrusted responses out of 220 that included missing values. Those subjects' environmental consciousness who received environmental education in middle and high schools was higher (t=3.15, p=.002). The higher their grades, the better their knowledge of medical waste (F=3.40, p=.035). Those subjects' knowledge of medical waste who received medical waste education was relatively high (t=3.14, p=.002). Those subjects with clinical practice experience had more sensitive attitudes toward medical waste (t=2.06, p=.041). Those subjects' attitudes toward Medical waste who received medical waste education at the universities were relatively high (t=2.04, p=.043). The subjects' environmental consciousness was positively correlated with their attitudes toward medical waste (r=.44, p<.001). The most influential factor in their attitudes toward medical waste is their environmental attitudes and medical waste education. Conclusion: The higher the nursing students' environmental consciousness, the higher their attitudes toward medical waste. It is necessary to provide environment and medical waste education for nursing students in order to strengthen their environmental consciousness and attitude toward medical waste.
