IC package marking inspection system using machine vision locates and identifies the target elements from input image, and decides the quality of marking by comparing the extracted target elements with the standard patterns. This paper proposes an adaptive multi-level thresholding (AMLT) method which is suitable for a series of operations such as locating the target IC package, extracting the characters, and detecting the Pinl dimple. It also proposes a dynamic matching unit selection (DMUS) method which is robust to noises as well as effective to catch out the local marking errors. The main idea of the AMLT method is to restrict the inputs of Otsu's thresholding algorithm within a specified area and a partial range of gray values. Doing so, it can adapt to the specific domain. The DMUS method dynamically selects the matching unit according to the result of character extraction and layout analysis. Therefore, in spite of the various erroneous situation occurred in the process of character extraction and layout analysis, it can select minimal matching unit in any environment. In an experiment with 280 IC package images of eight types, the correct extracting rate of IC package and Pinl dimple was 100% and the correct decision rate of marking quality was 98.8%. This result shows that the proposed methods are effective to IC package marking inspection.

To study the vertical variation of heavy metal and Rare Earth Element (REE) contents in deep-sea sediments, eighteen cores were sampled from the Korea Deep-sea Environmental Study (KODES)-96 area in the C-C zone (Clarion-Clipperton fracture zone), northeast equatorial Pacific. Sediment columns can be divided into three units based on sediment colors and geochemical characters; uppermost Unit I with brown color, middle Unit II with pale brown color and smaller Ni/Cu ratio than the ratio in Unit I, and lowermost Unit III with dark (brown) colors and higher contents of Mn, Ni, Cu, and REEs than those in Unit I and II. Unit II can be divided more into two layers of upper Unit IIa and lower Unit IIb. Unit IIb is characterized by high contents of Cu, 3+REEs (REEs except Ce), smectite, and severely deteriorated fossil tests. Unit III can also be divided into two units; upper Unit IIIa with dark brown color, and lower Unit IIIb with black color and enriched Mn and Fe. The KODES area was located near from the East Pacific Rise (EPR) When Unit III Sediments were deposited, considering the hiatus between Unit II and III (Quaternary-Tertiary boundary) and the spreading rate (10 cm/yr) and direction (north southern west) of the Pacific plate from the EPR. High contents of Mn and Fe in Unit IIIb may be related with hydrothermal influence from the EPR. Meanwhile, Unit IIb (about 2~3 Ma) and Unit III (11~30 Ma) layers were probably formed near (or under) the equatorial high productivity zone, and accordingly received a lot of organic materials. As a result, Cu and 3+REEs, closely associated with organic materials, are enriched in smectite and/or Ca-P composites (fish bone debrise, biogenic apatite) after decomposition and reprecipitation on the sea floor. Higher contents of Cu and 3+REEs in Unit IIb and III are suggested to be the result of abundant supply of organic substances in the equatorial high productivity zone.
The present study was compared and discussed with focus on the evaluation for the Importance Level of Design Elements and the Case Study Designing with respect to Environmental-Friendly Apartment Housing. It was examined that there were some differences between the result of Importance Level and the suggested details from Case Study. From the result of Importance Level, evaluation was highly given on the planned principles regarding effective utilization of landuse, ecological principle and reflection of varities, while from the result of Case Study on the planned principles regarding health of residents and amenity. Accordingly the present development method and the fundamental understanding on Environmental -Fiendly Apartment housing should be changed on the basis of the results as above.
This study aims at the suggestion of possibility that a housing density will maintain properly and that an ecological hill housing will recover a rapport with the ground. That is, both residential planning on the hillside and ecological architecture as a concept for development are chosen for study category, and relationship between the hillside and the hill housing is theorized and then propriety is analysed through application of the ecological planning elements. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Now that the hillside is regarded as an idle land that preserves natural environment and maintains ecosystem, it must be developed on the basis of awareness that nature and human beings exist together. 2. Analysis of geographical factors must be advanced because it is inevitable that the development of the hill housing should be performed properly to the geographical characteristics. 3. Planning elements of ecological residential block which are possible for constructing on the hillside can be developed and applied, on the basis of geographical characteristics, by classifying them into two areas; housing estate, building and unit.

In recent years, as the demands of VBNS(Very high speed Backbone Network Service) and VDSL(Very high-data rate Digital Subscriber Line) increase, the development of kernel parts of optical communication such as PLC(Planar Light Circuit), Coupler, WDM elements increase. The alignment and the attachment technology are very important to fabricate the optical elements for communication. In this paper, the mechanism of rotational stage, the contact sensing unit, and integrated control circuit for the optical alignment system are studied.

In this paper, a novel tissue engineering scaffold design method based on triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) is proposed. After generating the hexahedral elements for a 3D anatomical shape using the distance field algorithm, the unit cell libraries composed of triply periodic minimal surfaces are mapped into the subdivided hexahedral elements using the shape function widely used in the finite element method. In addition, a heterogeneous implicit solid representation method is introduced to design a 3D (Three-dimensional) bio-mimetic scaffold for tissue engineering from a sequence of computed tomography (CT) medical image data. CT image of a human spine bone is used as the case study for designing a 3D bio-mimetic scaffold model from CT image data.
School age is the period when forms the most of physical, spiritual and behavioral developmental characteristics. And those are kept for lifetime. Since each of developmental characteristics is created through the interaction with physical environment, the learning space which is children's main playground should be designed as healing environment. Therefor, the purpose of this research is to find the healing environmental elements for learning space that help school children's developmental characteristics. For that, we researched the physical, spiritual and behavioral developmental characteristics of school children. And we found the healing environmental characteristics for learning space along with each developmental characteristics, by the analysis of Herman Hertzberger's elementary schools' classroom environment.
Steel elements are widely used for temporary structures on every construction site. but despite its strong resistences against heavy concrete volumes, they are easily eroded by oxygens in the space as times have been gone. If they are used several times in the construction fields, their elements are rusted and deformed and the strength is gradually reduced through the weak part. From this point of view, aluminum pipe support has been developed in stead of steel pipe sopport with enhancing durability against oxygens all the more. The developed aluminium pipe support has been lighter than steel unit, so workability has been improved. In another advantage of aluminium pipe support, different level control is possible with being equipped with the level control nut which enables the length adjustment of aluminium pipe support and the collapse of aluminum pipe support could be also prevented from the structures in the long term.

To apply the flux-lock type SFCL into power system, its current and voltage ratings are required to increase. Especially, in case of series connection of SFCLs, the countermeasure for simultaneous quenches must be considered. The structure, which each flux-lock type SFCL unit was wound in series on the same iron core, can induce the simultaneous quench of superconducting elements. Through the fault current limiting experiment for the suggested structure, it was confirmed that the even voltage burden among the superconducting elements comprising SFCLs could be made.
Six Sigma has been disseminated into a variety of areas. It is believed that a stepwise understanding of Six Sigma's DMAIC is required for successes of unit projects. Meanwhile, infra-structure factors, such as leadership, organization, personnel management, educational system, etc., are also important to safely implant the Six Sigma into the whole enterprise and to thoroughly create the culture of innovation and enterprise. Careful analysis of those elements makes it possible to draw common connection between Project Management and the Six Sigma. This study drives the success elements for the successful adoption of the Six Sigma in the Korea Western Power Co., Ltd., of which management was evaluated as one of the tops based on the results of 2007 Management Innovation Assessment and arranges the similarity of like this factor and Enterprise Project Management. The results of this study are expected to provide a useful guideline for the adoption of the Six Sigma in whole company level.
