  • Various type of rotary unions are widely used to provide fluids between rotating parts. To prevent fluid leakage, most of the rotary unions adopt mechanical seals which is highly reliable but too expensive and complicate. In this paper, a simple lip seal system made of PTFE is adopted in designing of a compact rotary union. Using MARC, the behavior characteristics of lip seal are investigated for seal mounting process, and obtained variations of contact pressure distribution and contact width with interferences and fluid pressures. The results showed that contact width are increased with interference and pressure. The maximum contact pressure are also increased up to a certain interference and pressure, however, then decreased. The numerical methods and results can be applied in designing and performance improvement of lip seal adopted rotary union, and further extensive studies are required.

  • In rough set literatures, methods for inducing minimal rules from a given decision table have been proposed. When the decision attribute is ordinal, inducing rules about upward and downward unions of decision classes is advantageous in the simplicity of obtained rules. However, because of independent applications of the rule induction method, inclusion relations among upward/downward unions in conclusion parts are not inherited to the condition parts of obtained rules. This non-inheritance may debase the quality of obtained rules. To ensure that inclusion relations among conclusions are inherited to conditions, we propose two rule induction approaches. The performances of the proposed approaches considering the inclusion relations between conclusions are examined by numerical experiments.

  • Let G be a finite group. By a sequence over G, we mean a finite unordered sequence of terms from G, where repetition is allowed, and we say that it is a product-one sequence if its terms can be ordered such that their product equals the identity element of G. The large Davenport constant D(G) is the maximal length of a minimal product-one sequence, that is, a product-one sequence which cannot be factored into two non-trivial product-one subsequences. We provide explicit characterizations of all minimal product-one sequences of length D(G) over dihedral and dicyclic groups. Based on these characterizations we study the unions of sets of lengths of the monoid of product-one sequences over these groups.

  • In the Previous studies, we reported about the synthesis of poly[3-methylence-3-methylenesodiumbisulfite-bis(4-hydroxypheny)sulfone] (PMSBPS) and their effect on the staining of direct dye on nylon in the dyeing of nylon/cotton union. The results showed that PMSBPS have good staining resist effect on nylon in the dyeing of nylon/cotton union. In this study, the staining resist effects of PMSBPS in varied dyeing process and method were investigated, and the fastness to washing, light, and rubbing of the deed N/C unions was tested. The results are as follows ; 1. In the two bath two step method, the staining of direct dye on nylon was decreased with the concentration of PMSBPS, and the fastness to washing, light, and rubbing of the dyed N/C unions were increased by addition of PMSBPS. 2. In the one bath two step method, optimun concentration of PMSBPS was 4% 0.w.f..

  • In this paper, we propose a multi-Criteria decision making approach to address the problem of finding the best possible solution in credit unions. Sensitivity analysis on the priority structure of the goals has been performed to obtain all possible solutions. The study uses the Euclidean distance method to measure distances of all possible solutions from the identified ideal solution. The possible optimum solution is determined from the minimum distance between the ideal solution and other possible solutions of the Problem.

  • This paper examines the factors affecting financial exclusion, and proposes the strategies for enhancing the role of credit unions as financing source for small business startups. Credit cooperative institutions have played an important role in assisting people and communities who suffer from social and financial exclusion such as small business owners. But many of them have closed and lost their operational grounds by financial restructuring. Accordingly people with low credit scores have faced with increased financial constraints and the government has proposed various measures to assist them. Credit unions should develop strategies more actively to ease their financial constraints, expand and reinforce the operational grounds through relationship banking, enhance competitiveness by community based specialization strategies and developing models.
