This paper presents evaluation of the electrical uniformity of zinc oxide varistors for lightning arresters. Two types of varistors were prepared which are a domestic varistor destroyed in the long duration current impulse withstand test and a new imported varistor. The domestic varistor exhibited good electrical uniformity except destroyed parts, but the imported varistor showed the worse results.
Among many factors for evaluating the performance of color printers, the color uniformity is an important factor during the stage of development and mass production. Currently the color uniformity is measured manually using densitometers and the data is analyzed by inspectors to evaluate the performance. In this paper a new method of estimating the color uniformity using scanners and average brightness is presented. The color uniformity of printouts is estimated by using the test pattern and commercially available scanner. It is shown from experiments that the estimated data are similar to the data measured by densitometers. Also, with the analysis of the color uniformity, the usefulness of the proposed approach is presented.

All pixels of image sensor do not react uniformly even if the light of same radiance enters into the camera. This non-uniformity comes from the sensor pixel non-uniformity and non-uniformity induced by the changing transmission of the telescope over the field. The first contribution to the non-uniformity has high spatial frequency nature and has an influence on the result and quality of the data compression. The second source of non-uniformity has low frequency nature and has no influence of the compression result. As the contribution resulting from the sensor PRNU(Photo Response Non-Uniformity) is corrected inside the camera electronics, the effect of the remaining non-uniformity to the compression result will be negligible. The non-uniformity correction result shall have big difference according to the sensor modeling and the calculation method to get correction coefficient. Usually, the sensor can be modeled with one dimensional coefficients which are a gain and a offset for each pixel. Only two measurements are necessary theoretically to get coefficients. However, these are not the optimized value over the whole illumination level. This paper proposes the algorithm to calculate the optimized non-uniformity correction coefficients over whole illumination radiance. The proposed algorithm uses several measurements and the least square method to get the optimum coefficients. The proposed algorithm is verified using the own camera electronics including sensor, electrical test equipment and optical test equipment such as the integrating sphere.
36,000lbs porcelain insulators (D-1995, D-1997, D-2002) investigated mechanical and electrical qualities, which were installed in the Korea 154kV transmission lines. This paper assessed Weibull distribution function, quality index, and uniformity index to forecast the remaining life expectancies of insulators. Applying Weibull distribution function on year lapse change test, electro-mechanical failing load test, and HRB values confirmed a significant degree of correlation. Statistically calculating the life expectancy through quality indices for aging and new products and uniformity indices that are associated with uniformity of insulation materials revealed.
Air pluviation method is widely adopted for preparation of large, uniform and repeatable sand beds of desired densities for laboratory studies to simulate in-situ conditions and obtain test results which are highly reliable. This paper presents details of a portable traveling pluviator recently developed for model sand bed preparation. The pluviator essentially consisted of a hopper, orifice plates for varying deposition intensity, combination of flexible and rigid tubes for smooth travel of material, and a set of diffuser sieves to obtain uniformity of pluviated sand bed. It was observed that sand beds of lower relative density can be achieved by controlling height of fall, whereas, denser sand beds could be obtained by controlling deposition intensity. Uniformity of pluviated sand beds was evaluated using cone penetration test and at lower relative densities minor variation in density was observed with depth. With increase in relative density of sand bed higher repeatability of uniform pluviation was achieved.

For experimental study on the effect of particle size distribution on the liquefaction resistance strength, particle size distribution curves of the dredged soil were investigated. In this process, four mean particle sizes and three uniformity coefficients were defined representatively and twelve representative particle size distribution curves which have different mean particle size and uniformity coefficient, were defined and manufactured by using the real dredged river soil. Cyclic triaxial tests and resonant column tests were carried out to analyze the effect of mean particle size and uniformity coefficient on the liquefaction resistance strength and dynamic characteristics.
This study conducted a comparative analysis of differences between cartesian trajectory in a linear rectangular coordinate system and MultiVane trajectory in a nonlinear rectangular coordinate system axial T1 and axial T2 images using an American College of Radiology(ACR) phantom. The phantom was placed at the center of the head coil and the top-to-bottom and left-to-right levels were adjusted by using a level. The experiment was performed according to the Phantom Test Guidance provided by the ACR, and sagittal localizer images were obtained. As shown in Figure 2, slices # 1 and # 11 were scanned after placing them at the center of a $45^{\circ}$ wedge shape, and a total of 11 slices were obtained. According to the evaluation results, the image intensity uniformity(IIU) was 93.34% for the cartesian trajectory, and 93.19% for the MultiVane trajectory, both of which fall under the normal range in the axial T1 image. The IIU for the cartesian trajectory was 0.15% higher than that for the MultiVane trajectory. In axial T2, the IIU was 96.44% for the cartesian trajectory, and 95.97% for the MultiVane trajectory, which fall under the normal range. The IIU for the cartesian trajectory was by 0.47% higher than that for the MultiVane trajectory. As a result, the cartesian technique was superior to the MultiVane technique in terms of the high-contrast spatial resolution, image intensity uniformity, and low-contrast object detectability.
A new miniaturized 4-port waveguide generating a transverse electromagnetic wave is proposed. The waveguide presents enhanced performance of higher field uniformity in extended test volume up to an increased test frequency limit compared to that of the conventional 2-port waveguide. The advantageous features of the proposed waveguide have been obtained through a new design scheme based on effective miniaturization maintaining good impedance matching. Consequently, we can provide a more accurate electromagnetic compatibility test method, covering larger devices operating in higher frequencies, which is a marked improvement upon the conventional approaches.

In this paper, during radio-frequency performance testing in a shield box, the non-uniform electric field distribution between multiple mobile phones is examined by numerical simulation, and two ways to improve the field uniformity among mobile phones under test are proposed. The results demonstrate that the proposed methods can greatly improve the field uniformity.
Diverging channel from gas burner exit to the inlet section of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) has been re-designed for 1 MW system. To improve the uniformity in velocity and temperature distribution of existing design(Case A and B) of 300 kW HRSG system, two additional test geometries have been chosen for the numerical simulation. At first, gas burner exit section has been centered to the inlet section of boiler(Case C) and uniformity has been improved considerably. Secondly, the diverging channel length can be further reduced for compact geometry with new guide vane design (Case D and E). Proposed design shows overall improvement in uniformity in velocity and temperature distribution compared to existing one.
