No one technique provides an optimal outcome for all body contouring patients. There are many surgical options for abdominoplasty. Among these, this abdominoplasty without undermining consists of liposuction around abdominal subcutaneous fatty tissue, excision of lower abdominal flap. The procedure allows aggressive thinning and sculpting of abdominal flap. This operation minimizes the dead space, which often leads to postoperative complications, and preserves neurovascular supply to the abdominal skin. From 1999 to 2004, 18 patients underwent the abdominoplasty without undermining, resulting in high satisfaction rates with no significant complications, such as, pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis. Patients could return to normal activity within a week. This abdominoplasty without undermining is an effective and safe alternative with low complication rate and enhances aesthetic results compared to traditional abdominal surgery.
The aim of this article is to examine the relationships between authentic leadership and job satisfaction and to test the moderating effects of co-workers undermining on that relationship. Data were collected from 24th companies in Korea. The sample included 490 employees chosen randomly. Moderated hierarchical regression was used to examine the moderating role of co-workers undermining on the authentic leadership and job satisfaction relationship. The results show that authentic leadership is positively and significantly correlated with job satisfaction. In addition, the results of the hierarchical multiple regression analyses support the moderating effects of perceived employee co-workers undermining with regard to the relationship between authentic leadership and job satisfaction. This study contributes to suggesting the role of co-worker's undermining as a key moderator of their relationship. The theoretical as well as practical implications of the results were discussed with the suggestion for future research.
This paper aims to respond to Weisberg's claim that the standard Bayesian epistemology cannot model an agent's belief updating that is triggered by some undermining evidence. Our epistemological intuition seems to require that the undermining evidence decreases some particular relevant credences. According to Weisberg, however, such a belief change cannot result from the standard Bayesian belief updating rules-i.e., (Jeffrey) Conditionalization. This is because probabilistic independence between some propositions is preserved under (Jeffrey) Conditionalization on the relevant evidence. Yet I will show in this paper that this conclusion is somewhat hasty. In particular, I will show that there is another version of Conditionalization and that when one updates her credences by means of such a version, the belief updating originated in undermining evidence can be well modeled in the Bayesian framework. Some authors often call the version Higher Order Conditionalization.
The tissue reactions concerned in alveolar bone remodelling at the pressure zones of rat molar periodontium associated with the application of force (15 gm) to the maxillary first molar teeth of the albino rats were studied by the transmission electron microscopy. Osteoclasts referrable to bone resorption were observed thereafter 3 hour survival period and undermining resorption was generated thenceforth 2 day survival period. Bone resorption, reversal zone and new bone formation were simultaneously observed adjacent to the zone of undermining resorption in the 7 day survival period. Osteoclasts with well developed primary lysosome, ruffled border, clear zone, granules and Golgi apparatus were detected at the zone of the bone resorption, and dark and bright cells adjacent to the osteoclasts as well. Mononuclear cells and perpendicularly arranged collagenous fibers were observed in the reversal zone and, on the other hand, osteoblasts with well developed Golgi apparatus and rough endoplasmic reticulum were detected at the zone of bone formation.
The current study aimed at examining the structural relationships among coparenting, fathers' involvement in child rearing and the children's participation in housework. 154 fathers and their 5th or 6th grade children living in Jeju participated in the study. The data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Model(SEM) technique. The results revealed that when the fathers reported greater alliance in their coparenting, they were more likely to participate in child rearing. Fathers' involvement significantly predicted greater housework participation of their school-aged children. Higher levels of undermining and gate-keeping in coparenting were associated with less father involvement, which in turn, predicted less housework participation by their children. Gatekeeping also directly predicted lower levels of housework of children. Father involvement significantly mediated the relationship between coparenting and children's housework. The implications for the education/intervention programs promoting coparenting and father involvement were further discussed.
Necrotizing fascitis is a severe soft tissue infection characterized by extensive necrosis of superficial fascia, suppurative fascitis, vascular thrombosis, widespread undermining of surrounding tissues. Associated systemic problems are widespread undermining of surrounding tissues, Associated systemic problems are common, with chronic alcoholism and diabetes being most prominent. Most commonly this disease presents in the extremities, trunk, and perineum. Necrotizing fascitis of dental origing is rare and its fulminating clinical course is not well documented in the dental literature. The present report is a case of necrotizing fascitis following vital extirpation of the pulp in a patient with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and liver cirrhosis. Originally throught to be caused by hemolytic streptococcus organism or stphylococcus aureus, advances in anaerobic culturing have shown it to be a synergistic bacterial infection involving aerobic and ovligate anaerobes. it is relatively rare in relatively rare in haea and neck regions. If it was not diagnosed and treated in early stages, necrotizing fascitis can be potentially fetal, with a mortality rate approaching 40%. It's treatment requires early recognition, prompt and aggressive surgical debriment and proper supportive cares, such as, antibiotic therapy, fluid resuscitation and correction of metabolic and electrolyte disorder, resolving of the underlying systemic disease. Recently, we experienced two cases of necrotizing fascitis in cervicofacial region, One patient was 60 years old male with uncontrolled Diabetes Mellitus and other patient was 48 years old with steroid therapy during 30 years. Local surgical wound healing was successful but, patients were died after admission, because of lung abscess, gastrointestinal bleeding, septic shock and respiration hold.
Background Preauricular sinuses are congenital abnormalities caused by a failure of fusion of the primitive tubercles from which the pinna is formed. When persistent or recurring inflammation occurs, surgical excision of the infected tissue should be considered. Preauricular defects inevitably occur as a result of excisions and are often difficult to resolve with a simple suture; a more effective reconstruction technique is required for treating these defects. Methods After total excision of a preauricular sinus, the defect was closed by a plastic surgeon. Based on the depth of the defect and the degree of tension when apposing the wound margins, the surgeon determined whether to use primary closure or a posterior auricular flap. Results A total of 28 cases were examined. In 5 cases, including 2 reoperations for dehiscence after primary repair, reconstruction was performed using posterior auricular transposition flaps. In 16 cases of primary closure, the defects were closed using simple sutures, and in 7 cases, closure was performed after wide undermining. Conclusions If a preauricular defect is limited to the subcutaneous layer and the margins can be easily approximated, primary closure by only simple suturing may be used to perform the repair. If the defect is deep enough to expose the perichondrium or if there is tension when apposing the wound margins, wide undermining should be performed before primary closure. If the extent of the excision exposes cartilage, the procedure follows dehiscence of the primary repair, or the tissue is not sufficiently healthy, the surgeon should use a posterior auricular flap.
Extensible Markup Language(XML) is fast emerging as the dominant standard for representing data in the World Wide Web. Sophisticated query engines that allow users to effectively tap the data stored in XML documents will be crucial to exploiting the full power of XML. While there has been a great deal of activity recently proposing new semi-structured data models and query languages for this purpose, this paper explores the more conservative approach of using traditional relational database engines for processing XML documents conforming to Document Type Descriptors(DTDs). In this paper, we describe how to generate relational schemas from XML DTDs. The main issues that must be addressed inc]ode (a) dealing with the complexity of DTD element specifications (b) resolving the conflict between the two-level nature of relational schemas (table and attribute) vs. the arbitrary nesting of XML DTD schemas and (c) dealing with set-valued attributes and recursion. We now propose a set of transformations that can be used to "simplify" any arbitrary DTD without undermining the effectiveness of queries over documents conforming to that DTD.
For the purpose of evaluating the response of the periodontal tissue in relation to the experimental tooth movement, orthodontic force was applied to 15 female rats. The animals were investigated histopathologically and histochemically by several staining methods. Findings were as follows: 1. The application of 60gm on the rat's molar caused mesial tipping movement and undermining resorption. 2. One day after the insertion of the appliance, the osteoblast was increased in activity but not in number. 3. The osteoclastic activity was decreased as soon as removing the appliance. 4. With the P.A.S. staining, osteoclasts Stained mildly in the initial stage and stained more intensely in the last stage. Osteoclasts revealed negative reaction in the initial stage and stained mildly in the last stage. 5. Slides stained with toluidine blue revealed no conclusive variations between osteoblasts and osteoclasts.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of acupotomy in the treatment of various facial atrophic scars except acne scars. Methods: Four patients with facial atrophic scars were treated by superficial dermal undermining with acupotomy. They were treated six times, and evaluated by comparing before and after photos, PGA(Physician's Global assessment), SESES(The Stony Brook Scar Evaluation Score) and patient satisfaction. Results and Conclusions: After observing case photos, PGA, SBSES, patient's satisfaction, it can be considered that acupotomy is an effective treatment modality for facial atrophic scars and it has no significant side effects.
