  • In this study, we analyzed the influence or electrical pole by FEM(Finite Element Method) and developed protective system by designing and interpreting protective system for electrical pole when abnormal strength worked on messenger wire. Protective system did not shed messenger wire under wind pressure and discontent load but did assign a part to preventing rupture of electrical pole through automatically shed messenger wire over fred strength. Structure of protective system analysis by FEM and prove property by measuring tensile strength for practical product.

  • A numerical model of three-dimensional soil water distribution for drip irrigation management under cropped conditions was developed using Richards equation in Cartesian coordinates. The model accounts for both seasonal and diurnal changes in evaporation and transpiration, and the growth of plant root and the shape of root zone. Solutions were numerically approximated using the Crank-Nicolson implicit finite difference technique on the block-centered grid system and the Gauss-Seidel elimination in tandem. The model was tested under several conditions to allow the flow rates and configurations of drip emitters vary. In general, simulation results agreed well with experimental results and were as follows. The velocity of soil-water flow decreased drastically with distance from the drip source, and the rate of expansion of the wetted zone decreased rapidly during irrigation. The wetting front of wetted zone from a surface drip emitter traveled farther in vertical direction than in horizontal direction. Under this experimental weather condition, water use efficiency of a drip-irrigated apple field was greatest for 4-drip-emitter system buried at 25 cm, resulting from 10% increase in transpiration but 20% reduction in soil evaporation compared to those for surface 1-drip emitter system. Soil moisture retention curve obtained using disk tension infiltrometer showed significant difference from the curve obtained with pressure plate extractor.

  • Magnesium alloys have been widely used for many structural components of automobiles and aircraft because of high specific strength and good cast ability in spite of hexagonal closed-packed crystal structure of pure magnesium. In this study, uniaxial tension tests at high temperature and creep tests are done in order to investigate the characteristics of high temperature and mechanisms for creep deformation of AZ31 Mg alloy. Yield stress and ultimate tensile stress decreased with increasing temperature, but elongation increased from results of uniaxial tension test at high temperature. The apparent activation energy Qc, the applied stress exponent n and rupture life have been determined during creep of AZ31 Mg alloy over the temperature range of 473K to 573K and stress range of 23.42 MPa to 93.59 MPa, respectively, in order to investigate the creep behavior. Constant load creep tests were carried out in the equipment including automatic temperature controller, whose data are sent to computer. At around the temperature of $473K{\sim}493K$ and under the stress level of $62.43{\sim}93.59%MPa$, and again at around the temperature of $553K{\sim}573K$ and under the stress level of $23.42{\sim}39.00MPa$, the creep behavior obeyed a simple power-law relating steady state creep rate to applied stress and the activation energy for the creep deformation was nearly equal, respectively, and a little low to that of the self diffusion of Mg alloy including aluminum. Also rupture surfaces at high temperature have had bigger dimples than those at lower temperature by SEM.

  • The need of ultra-precision machine tools, which manufacture and machine the high precision parts used in computers, semi-conductors and other precision machines, has been increased over years. Therefore it is important to design the driving parts, which affect significantly on their performances. In this paper, the dynamic analyses on the belt-driven system were explored. Relation of the acoustical natural frequency and the tension of belt was derived and presented through experiments. Also, while the dynamic loads on motor system were changed, dynamic deflections were calculated through finite element analysis. Nonlinear characteristics of the bearings having an effect on the dynamic performance were studied and the belt connecting the motor (driving part) to spindle of a machine tool (driven part) was modeled as truss and beam elements fur simulations under various conditions, and a beam element model was verified to be more useful.

  • Dynamic behaviors of the GMAW system are simulated using the short-circuit transfer model and the characteristic equations fir the power supply, wire system and arc. The conventional wire equation, which relates the rate change of the wire extension to the wire feed rate and melting rate, is modified to include effects of the molten drop attached at the wire tip. The modified wire equation describes behaviors of the GMAW system more precisely and provides information about the initial bridge volume for short-circuit transfer. The proposed short-circuit model predicts the variation of parameters such as the current, voltage, short-circuit frequency and time considering the effects of the surface tension and electromagnetic force due to current. The calculated results are in broad agreements with the experimental results under the argon shielding condition.

  • This is the paper on the development of assemnly automation and visual inspection system for smart card reader connector. The automation consists of 3 main process injection, assembly and inspection. During the injection, the main pin of a reel. transferred under uniform tension, is cut with an injection interval and positioned precisely to an injection mold by roll feeder after injection. The main base is stacked to a magazine for main pin's exact positionning to a mold . For last effective production, The turn table and pick & place are driver with gears and came by a single monter. We developed the small parts handling technigue for stable supply of micro ist pin and 2nd pin and could determine the orientation and position of those pins. For reliable inspection, We used the vision system which examins the guality of arranged pins with a CCD camera. The connector models which can be manufactured with this system are 8 pin and 10 pin type. The user can select the connector model for production and adjust the torerable error range during the inspection of arranged pins.

  • This paper presents the results of motion tests of a moored semi-submersible platform in regular waves. To investigate the effects of mooring system on the motion characteristics, the tests were performed under the various mooring conditions in regular head and beam waves. Two types of mooring system were employed: one is composed of soft springs and the other is of chains. In the case of chains the pretensions were varied to investigate the dynamic effects of mooring forces as well as the motion responses of the semi-submersible. The motion responses and mooring tensions were measured and analyzed by the double amplitude method. The measured motion responses were also compared with the results of calculation from three-dimensional potential theory. Finally, the dynamic behaviors of mooring chains were studied.

  • Cardiovascular effects of propofol, were assessed after premedication with xylazine(1.0 mUkg, IM) under oxygen supply(200 ml/kg/min) via a endotracheal tube. Twelve adult mixed-breed dogs were divided into four groups; 0.2(Group 1), 0.4(Group 2), 0.6(Group 3) and 0.8 mg/kg/min(Group 4) of propofol respectively. Arterial blood pressure and electrocardiogram were monitored with a physiograph after an arterial catheter was inserted into the femoral artery. pH, arterial carbon dioxide tension($PaCO_2$and arterial oxygen tension($PaO_2$) were evaluated with arterial blood collected through the inserted catheter. Diastolic arterial pressure, systolic arterial pressure and mean arterial pressure were decreased slightly in Group I IIand III, but decreased significantly in Group IV. They were increased rapidly after stopping propofol infusion in Group IV pH was maintained in normal range in Group I, II and m, but was decreased in proportion to time passing in Group IV. $PaCO_2$ was increased significantly only in Group IV but $PaO_2$ was maintained in normal range in all groups Although heart rate was recorded in normal range for 90 minutes, arythmia was noted after stopping propofol infusion in all groups. It was concluded that propofol depressed the cardiovascular system in proportion to infusion dosage, and 0.8 mg/kg/min of propofol infusion rate was not appropriated in canine anesthesia with xylazine premedication.
