In this study, ultrasonic spray pyrolysis combined with salt-assisted decomposition, a process that adds sodium nitrate ($NaNO_3$) into a titanium precursor solution, is used to synthesize nanosized titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) particles. The added $NaNO_3$ prevents the agglomeration of the primary nanoparticles in the pyrolysis process. The nanoparticles are obtained after a washing process, removing $NaNO_3$ and NaF from the secondary particles, which consist of the salts and $TiO_2$ nanoparticles. The effects of pyrolysis temperature on the size, crystallographic characteristics, and bandgap energy of the synthesized nanoparticles are systematically investigated. The synthesized $TiO_2$ nanoparticles have a size of approximately 2-10 nm a bandgap energy of 3.1-3.25 eV, depending on the synthetic temperature. These differences in properties affect the photocatalytic activities of the synthesized $TiO_2$ nanoparticles.

Current synthesis processes for titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) nanoparticles require expensive precursors or templates as well as complex steps and long reaction times. In addition, these processes produce highly agglomerated nanoparticles. In this study, we demonstrate a simple and continuous approach to synthesize $TiO_2$ nanoparticles by a salt-assisted ultrasonic spray pyrolysis method. We also investigate the effect of salt content in a precursor solution on the morphology and size of synthesized products. The synthesized $TiO_2$ nanoparticles are systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron micrograph, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. These nanoparticles appear to have a single anatase phase and a uniform particle-size distribution with an average particle size of approximately 10 nm. By extrapolating the plots of the transformed Kubelka-Munk function versus the absorbed light energy, we determine that the energy band gap of the synthesized $TiO_2$ nanoparticles is 3.25 eV.

This study presents the possibility of scratch reduction on wafer in CMP by applying the ultrasonic and megasonic energy into the slurry which might contain large abrasive particles. Experiments were conducted to verify the dispersion ability of agglomerated particles by applying ultrasonic, megasonic waves and analyze the particle distribution of used slurry in case, of sonic energy assisted or none. And the dispersion stability of megasonic waves was investigated through the experiment of stability of the dispersed slurry, Finally, to confirm that the distribution of particles in slurry by ultrasonic waves was actually related to scratches on wafer when CMP was done, tungsten blanket wafer was processed, by CMP to compare and investigate scratches on wafer.
Characteristics of fruit tree canopies are important target information for adjusting the pesticide application rate in variable rate spraying in orchards. Therefore, the target detection of the canopy characteristics is very important. In this study, a canopy volume measurement method for peach trees was presented and a variable rate spraying system based on canopy volume measurement was developed using the ultrasonic sensing, one of the most effective target detection method. Ten ultrasonic sensors and two flow control units were mounted on the orchard air-assisted sprayer. The ultrasonic sensors were used to detect the canopy diameters and the flow controls were used to modify the flow rate of the nozzles in real time. Two treatments were established: a constant application rate of $300Lha^{-1}$ was set as the control treatment for the comparison with the variable rate application at a $0.095Lm^{-3}$ canopy. The tracer deposition at different parts of peach trees and the tracer losses to the ground (between rows and within rows) were analyzed in detail under constant rate and variable rate application. The results showed that there were no significant differences between two treatments in the liquid distribution and the capability to reach the inner parts of the crop canopies.

Objective : To investigate the efficacy and safety of the posterior endoscopic cervical foraminotomy (PECF) using ultrasonic osteotome for the treatment of cervical osseous foraminal stenosis, focusing on introduction of the advantages of ultrasonic osteotome in partial pediculectomy and ventral osteophyte resection in PECF. Methods : Nineteen patients with cervical osseous foraminal stenosis who underwent PECF using ultrasonic osteotome in our institution between April 2018 and April 2021 were enrolled in this study. All the patients were followed up more than 12 months. The patients' medical data, as well as pre- and postoperative radiologic findings were thoroughly investigated. The visual analogue score (VAS), Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score, cervical dysfunction index (Neck disability index, NDI), and modified MacNab criteria were used to assess the surgical efficacy. Results : All the patients were successfully treated with PECF using ultrasonic osteotome. The pre- and postoperative VAS, NDI, and JOA scores were significantly improved (p<0.05). According to the modified MacNab criteria, 17 patients were assessed as "excellent", two patients were assessed as "good" at the last follow-up. There was no dura tear, nerve root damage, incision infection, neck deformity, or other complications. Conclusion : Adequate nerve root decompression can be accomplished successfully with the help of ultrasonic osteotome in PECF, which has the advantage of reducing the probability of damage to the nerve root and dura mater, in addition to the original merits of endoscopic surgery.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of extraction conditions on tricin and tricin 4'-O-(threo-${\beta}$-guaiacylglyceryl) ether (TTGE) extracted from rice hull (Oryza sativa L.). Extraction conditions were an ethanol concentration of extraction solvent of 50~90%, extraction time of 0.5~48 h, and ultrasonic-assisted and agitated extraction as extraction methods. The total tricin and TTGE contents of rice hull were $82.20{\mu}g/g$ and $53.12{\mu}g/g$, respectively. Recovery of tricin and TTGE increased to 76.11% and 71.42% with increasing ethanol concentration until 70% and then decreased above 80%, respectively. In ultrasonic-assisted extraction, highest recovery of tricin was 83.30% after 2 h of extraction and TTGE was 71.80% after 1 h of extraction. In agitated extraction, highest recovery of tricin was 92.34% after 48 h and TTGE was 76.89% after 24 h of extraction. Therefore, optimum extraction conditions for tricin and TTGE of rice hull were 70% ethanol concentration and ultrasonic-assisted extraction for 1 h.
The process of extracting active ingredients from wheat sprout using ultrasound assisted method was optimized with a central composite design model. The response value of the central composite design model established the extraction yield and the total flavonoids content, main effects and interactive effects were analyzed depending on independent variables such as the extraction time, volume ratio of ethanol to ultrapure water, and ultrasonic irradiation power. The volume ratio of ethanol to ultrapure water and ultrasonic irradiation power were relatively large for the extraction yield and the extraction time was most significantly affected the total flavonoids, Considering both the extraction yield and total flavonoids content, the optimal extraction conditions were as follows: the extraction time of 17.00 min, volume ratio of ethanol to ultrapure water of 50.25 vol%, ultrasonic irradiation power of 551.70 W. In this case, the extraction yield and total flavonoids content were 28.43 wt% and $29.99{\mu}g\;QE/mL\;dw$, respectively. The actual experimental extraction yield and total flavonoids content under this condition were 8.73 wt% and $29.65{\mu}g\;QE/mL\;dw$, respectively with respective error rates of 1.05 and 1.13%.
In this paper, we introduce a robot-assisted medical diagnostic system that enables remote ultrasound (US) imaging to be applied to the conventional telemedicine, which has been possible only with interviewing or a visual exam. In particular, a master-slave robot system is developed that ultrasonic diagnosis specialist can control the position and orientation of US probe in the remote place. The slave robot is designed to be compact, lightweight, and hand-held so that it can easily transfer to the remote healthcare center. Moreover, 6-degree-of-freedom (DOF) probe motion is possible by the robot design based on Stewart platform. The master device is also based on a similar structure of the slave robot. To connect master and slave system in the wide area network (WAN) environment, a hardware CODEC was developed. In this paper, we introduce the detail of each component and the results of the recent experiments conducted in the remote sites by the developed robotic ultrasound imaging system.
A non-contact, in-situ and non-invasive technique for health monitoring of submerged fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) laminates has been developed using ultrasonic guided waves. A pair of mobile transducers at specific angles of incidence to the submerged FRP specimen was used to excite Lamb wave modes. Lamb wave modes were used for comprehensive inspection of various types of manufacturing defects like air gaps and missing epoxy, introduced during manufacturing of FRP using Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion Molding (VARIM). Further service induced damages like notches and surface defects were also studied and evaluated using guided waves. Quantitative evaluation of transmitted ultrasonic signal in defect ridden FRPs $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ healthy signal has been used to relate the extent of damage in FRPs. The developed technique has the potential to develop into a quick, real time health monitoring tool for judging the service worthiness of FRPs.

This study has focused on the deburring technology of a vacuum plate for MLCC lamination using electrolytic in-process dressing (ELID) grinding, and the magnetic-assisted polishing (MAP) process. The surface of the vacuum plate has many micro-holes for vacuum suction. They are easily blocked by the burrs created in the surface-flattening process, such as the conventional grinding process. In this study, the MAP process, the ELID grinding process, and an ultrasonic vibration table are examined to remove the micro-burrs that lead to the blockage of the holes. In the results of the experiments, the MAP process and ELID grinding technology showed significant improvements of surface roughness and deburring performance.
