The ultimate goal of developing body is revealed the "lightweight" at latest EuroCarBody conference 2012 and the most core technology is joining process to make lightweight car body design. Accordingly, in this study, the car body assembly line for the assembly process applies to any introduction, particularly in the assembly of aluminum alloy and composite materials applied by the process for the introductory approached. Process were largely classified by welding (laser, arc, resistance, and friction stir welding), bonding (epoxy bonding) and mechanical fastening (FDS, SPR, Bolting and clinching). Applications for each process issues in the case and the applicable award was presented, based on the absolute strength of the test specimens and joining characteristics for comparative analysis were summarized. Finally, through this paper, we would tried to establish the characteristics of the joint for lightweight structure.
PURPOSE. To explore the influence of different surface conditionings on surface changes and the influence of surface treatments and aging on the bond strengths of composites to non-aged and aged resin nanoceramics. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Rectangular-shaped non-aged and aged (5000 thermocycles) resin nanoceramic specimens (Lava Ultimate) (n=63, each) were divided into 3 groups according to surface treatments (untreated, air abrasion, or silica coating) (n=21). The surface roughness was measured and scanning electron microscopy was used to examine one specimen from each group. Afterwards, the specimens were repaired with a composite resin (Filtek Z550) and half were sent for aging (5000 thermocycles, n=10, each). Shear bond strengths and failure types were evaluated. Roughness and bond strength were investigated by two- and three-way analysis of variance, respectively. The correlation between the roughness and bond strength was investigated by Pearson's correlation test. RESULTS. Surface-treated samples had higher roughness compared with the untreated specimens (P=.000). For the non-aged resin nanoceramic groups, aging was a significant factor for bond strength; for the aged resin nanoceramic groups, surface treatment and aging were significant factors. The failures were mostly adhesive after thermal cycling, except in the non-aged untreated group and the aged air-abraded group, which had mostly mixed failures. Roughness and bond strength were positively correlated (P=.003). CONCLUSION. Surface treatment is not required for the repair of non-aged resin nanoceramic; for the repair of aged resin nanoceramic restorations, air abrasion is recommended.
The strengthening method with CFS(Carbon Fiber Sheet) has some fatal defects that the beams strengthened with CFS is always failed far below its ultimated strenth due to rapid progress of horizontal delamination. The crack between beam and CFS are always started from the center of the beam and propagated to the end of the beam. The moment of the beam is always the largest in the middle of the beam, so is the tensile force of the CFS. The bumped surface of the CFS causes debonding force depending on the tensile force of CFS. In this study, two methods which delay early delamination are suggested and proved its validity, experimentally. The first method is using anchor bolt at the end of CFS, and the second method is using CFS wrap aroud at the center and the end of beam. The maximum load and ductility of the two methods are increased significantly. However, the maximum load is still far below the ultimate load. That's because the tensile strength of CFS is so large that its tensile strength can not be reached under normal loading condition. The ductility of the strengthened beam is improved more that twice before modiffication.

An innovative Hybrid Passive Resistive configuration for Truss Girder Frames (HPR-TGFs) is introduced in the present study. The proposed system is principally consisting of Fluid Viscous Dampers (FVDs) and Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs) as its seismic resistive components. Concurrent utilization of these devices will develop an efficient energy dissipating mechanism which is able to mitigate lateral displacements as well as the base shear, simultaneously. However, under certain circumstances which the presence of FVDs might not be essential, the proposed configuration has the potential to incorporate double BRBs in order to achieve the redundancy of alternative load bearing paths. This study is extending the modern Direct Displacement Based Design (DDBD) procedure as the design methodology for HPR-TGF systems. Based on a series of nonlinear time history analysis, it is demonstrated that the design outcomes are almost identical to the pre-assumed design criteria. This implies that the ultimate characteristics of HPR-TGFs such as lateral stiffness and inter-story drifts are well-proportioned through the proposed design procedure.
In high rise buildings that utilize precast large panel system for construction, the shear wall provides strength and stiffness during earthquakes. The performance of a wall panel system depends mainly on the type of connection used to transfer the forces from one wall element to another wall element. This paper presents an experimental investigation on different types of construction detailing of the precast wall to wall vertical connections under reverse cyclic loading. One of the commonly used connections in India to connect wall to wall panel is the loop bar connection. Hence for this study, three types of wet connections and one type of dry connection namely: Staggered loop bar connection, Equally spaced loop bar connection, U-Hook connection, and Channel connection respectively were used to connect the precast walls. One third scale model of the wall was used for this study. The main objective of the experimental work is to evaluate the performance of the wall to wall connections in terms of hysteretic behaviour, ultimate load carrying capacity, energy dissipation capacity, stiffness degradation, ductility, viscous damping ratio, and crack pattern. All the connections exhibited similar load carrying capacity. The U-Hook connection exhibited higher ductility and energy dissipation when compared to the other three connections.
Tensile deformation behavior with different strain rate was investigated. $Zr_{56.2}Ti_{13.8}Nb_{5.0}Cu_{6.9}Ni_{5.6}Be_{12.5}$(bulk metallic glass alloy possessed crystal phase which was called $\beta$-phase of dendrite shape, mean size of $20{\sim}30{\mu}m$ and occupied 25% of the total volume) was used in this study. Maximum tensile strength was obtained as 1.74GPa at strain rate $10^2s^{-1}$ and minimum strength was found to be 1.6GPa at $10^{-1}s^{-1}$. And then, maximum plastic deformation occurred at the strain rate of $5{\times}10^{-2}s^{-1}$ and represented 1.75%, though minimum plastic deformation showed 0%. In the specific range of strain rate, relatively higher plastic deformation and lower ultimate tensile strength were found with lots of shear bands. The fractographical observation after tensile test indicated that vein like pattern on the fracture surface was well developed especially in the above range of strain rate.

A total of 240 crossbred(Landrace ${\times}$ Yorkshire ${\times}$ Duroc) pigs were housed from 70 kg live weight and slaughtered at weights of 95, 105, 115 and 125 kg. The left side loins of carcass were obtained at 24 hr postmortem to measure pork quality. There were significant differences(p<0.01) in eye muscle area of pork loins between the slaughter weights of 95 and 105 kg. However, no differences were observed in pork than 105 kg of slaughter weight. Ultimate pH values were decreased with increasing slaughter weight and cooking loss was also reduced(p<0.01) at the heavier weights. Slaughter weights did not affect the shear force and intramuscular fat. However, dry matter(DM) and crude protein(CP) contents of loin were increased, and cooking loss and sarcomere length were decreased with increasing slaughter weight. The lightness(L$^{*}$) and redness(a$^{*}$) of pork loin were increased with increasing slaughter weight. Results suggested that pork quality may be improved when pig slaughter weight is increased from 95 to 125 kg.

The IACS Common Structural Rules are to be applied for double hull tanker of more than 150m length with contracted after 1 April 2006. The objectives of the rules are to make more robust, safer ship and to ensure transparency of the technical background. In compliance of CSR, we had carried out prescriptive rules scantling determination and 3-D hold FE analysis of AFRAMAX TANKER. Prescriptive rules scantling determines the minimum required scantling, hull-girder longitudinal bending and shear strength, hull girder ultimate strength, local strength of plate and stiffener, strength of primary supporting member and fatigue assessment of the longitudinal stiffener end connections to the transverse bulkhead. 3-D hold FE analysis assesses the structural adequacy of the vessel's primary hull structure and major supporting members using yielding and buckling failure modes. So we could verify the strength assessment of AFRAMAX TANKER applied CSR.

The aim of the present study is to investigate the buckling strength of plates and stiffened panels with opening under transverse thrust and shear actions. It is observed that the existing design formulation for critical-buckling strength of plates are not valid for perforated plates, because the current design formulation trends can significantly overestimate or underestimate the load-carrying capacity of plates when plates have large opening and/or are thick. A series of eigen value and elastic.plastic large deflection finite element analyses are carried out with varying the aspect ratio of plate, the opening size and location on plate until and after the ultimate strength is reached. Based on the results obtained from the present study, closed-form design formulations for the elastic buckling strength of plates and stiffened panels with opening are derived. The derived design formulations are considered plasticity correction of the material and verified by experimental tests and results of nonlinear finite element computations.
