Objective: The main objective of this study is to propose a user-centered assessment metric for ubiquitous services. Background: As the ubiquitous era took off, the interactions between ubiquitous services and users have come to take an important position. It is essential to conceptualize a new assessment model that considers human-system interaction capability with a user-centered design perspective. Method: The evaluation model for the interactivity of ubiquitous service was approached from the concept of usability and inter-personality of services. As a validation study, suggested assessment metric was utilized to evaluate the u-Home service. Priority weighting of each assessment metric was derived using the quantification type-I analysis. Results: To evaluate interactivity, this study suggested a quantitative metric for user testing performed after classifying the interactivity characteristics to contextualization; ubiquity; user experience; and service capability. Conclusion: This study suggest the metric for the ubiquitous service that are experienced in real life, and introduced the concept of ubiquitous service interactivity. Application: The suggested evaluation metric can be used to evaluate interactivity level of ubiquitous service and identify the potential problem and usability requirements at the early stage of service development.

본 연구는 21세기 IT 산업을 주도할 유비쿼터스 시대에 대비하여 IT 인력 양성을 대표하는 국내 대학의 유비쿼터스 기술 및 서비스 인력의 양성실태를 파악하고자한 것이다. 이에, 유비쿼터스 기술 및 서비스 인력에 대한 체계적인 분류체계를 개발하고, 국내 대학의 유비쿼터스 기술 및 서비스 관련 인력 양성 실태를 분석하여 시사점 및 대안을 제시하였다. 유비쿼터스 기술 관련 인력은 유비쿼터스 환경 하에서의 정보의 흐름에 따라 분류하였고, 유비쿼터스 서비스 관련 인력은 유비쿼터스 사용자의 관점에서 분류하였다. 본 연구의 결과물은 유비쿼터스 인력을 양성하기 위한 산 학 연 관의 협력 프로그램을 개발하는데 도움을 줄 것이며, 향후 유비쿼터스 인력의 수급 전망을 분석하는데 참고 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Ubiquitous technology is currently being introduced to libraries at the fastest speed as compared to other spaces. However, the introduction of ubiquitous technology to the existing analog space is causing problems despite such intelligence of libraries as the design standards for ubiquitous spaces have not been arranged yet. This researcher analyzed and evaluated the characteristics of design from the ubiquitous aspect of the ubiquitous environment-oriented libraries that are still at their initial stage. The subjects for this study were the National Library of Korea, Myongji University Bangmok Library, and Yonsei University Library. The definition and characteristics of the ubiquitous environment libraries were examined through literature review and the standards for design analysis were derived by analyzing previous studies. Case analyses were conducted to evaluate the design elements in the ubiquitous environment libraries based on the field observation, photographing, and interviews with managers. As a result, functionality, safety, cognition and convenience were derived based on the investigation and analysis of previous studies; informativeness, playfulness, security, and simplicity which are the design characteristics were found. As a result of the case studies, while functionality and safety are met in most of the standards for design analysis, universality was very low. Care for minorities is need in a library as it is a space used by many unspecified individuals.

This research is about the methods in making computers understand the situation in regards to interaction between House and Human Behavior. In this paper, house is the ubiquitous house, as a future house, adopting ubiquitous computing presenting the interrelation of human and house - interior space, architecture, nature. And the Context Aware Model of ubiquitous house is proposed to embody the ubiquitous house. The research objective is to systematize the context in the ubiquitous house and suggest a theoretical basis to embody the ubiquitous house interacting between the House ud Human Behavior Especially, this paper focuses on the Context Aware Model based on FengShui-Theory(sp. YangTaek-Theory). The ubiquitous house is not what operates passively by human but a information-oriented house that can predict the situation and the living patterns of human. For a information-oriented house and informal living context at home, this paper uses FengShui-Theory whose central concern is the interrelation of human and nature. Through these concepts, this research will suggest how to systematize, control and manage the context at home. In the end, it is expected to offer a theoretical basis to embody the intelligent house and apply an environment design communicating between the computers and human.

The purposes of this study were to identify the needs for ubiquitous home services in residential environment of elderly single or elderly couple households living without children and also to analyze the differences of the needs according to their demographic and housing characteristics. For this study, a literature review and field works on ubiquitous home services for older people were performed. Also, 1 to 1 interview by using the questionnaire which was developed by the researchers in this study was conducted and 270 elderly residents in Seoul and Gyeonggi-Do were responded. Seventy-one ubiquitous service items which were adopted to home electronic appliances and furniture for older people were developed for 1 to 1 interview questionnaire. The major findings of the study were as follows: the elderly residents expressed highest need for ubiquitous home service items related to safety and health issues. Among ubiquitous service items applied to gas stove, vacuum cleaner, TV, telephone, sofa and toilet, the items related to safety and health aspects were most needed. And residents' income level and health status were the two major variables to show group differences in the need of ubiquitous home services. In other words, the elderly residents who were high income and frail tended to have the highest demand for ubiquitous home services adopted to home electronic appliances and furniture.

Many distributed and heterogeneous services and devices are accessible in ubiquitous computing environment, so interoperating those services and devices is one of the key tasks in implementing ubiquitous applications. We used to use script languages in integrating such interoperating components and services. However currently available most script languages are not suitable for ubiquitous environment because there are so diverse forms of interoperation targets such as service objects, web, legacy objects and programmable devices. So it is worthwhile designing a new script language well-suited to ubiquitous environment. In this paper, we propose a new script language, called Ubiscript, for the ubiquitous environment. We develop and adopt several unique language features such as remote scope, multiple contexts, web and legacy objects, remote exception handling, etc. in Ubiscript to overcome the limitations of conventional script languages. In this paper, we also describe the implementation of Ubiscript and its runtime system. A couple of ubiquitous applications were developed in Ubiscript, and the applications are tested on the runtime system. According to our experiences and evaluation, Ubiscript turned out to have a high potential in its expression power and contribution to improving ubiquitous application developers' productivity.

As the concept of Ubiquitous City has become an important issue, we need to have a voice in the field of privacy. The Ubiquitous Computing revolution, it is achieved a physical space and an intelligent union of cyber space in the space where an off-line space was integrated with on-line. It is combined with a life space naturally, and Ubiquitous creates a new integrated space. The space is the opportunity space that is limitless as soon as it is the unknown world that mankind was not able to experience yet. According to the recent papers and studies, Privacy or Personal Information sector is mentioned as a major problem for Ubiquitous Computing Society. Therefore, this paper checks Ubiquitous City, the present privacy concept and situation of currently proceeding Ubiquitous computing environment. Also, The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the concepts privacy, personal information. Thus this paper treated the analysis of case, technological or social issue, problem and solution, competing values of privacy and so on.

오늘날 정보화는 디지털 환경에서 유비쿼터스 정보환경으로 발전하고 있다. 이러한 정보환경의 변화에 효과적으로 대응하기 위해서 정부는 유비쿼터스 기술을 이용하여 국가발전을 추구하고자 u-Korea 정책을 추진하고 있다. 한편, 국가의 공간정보화의 기틀인 국가GIS 역시 유비쿼터스 환경으로의 발전을 모색하고 있다. 그러나 아직까지 유비쿼터스 정보환경에 대한 뚜렷한 변화와 관련기술의 실용화는 나타나지 않고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 '유비쿼터스'라는 정보환경의 변화에 직면한 국가GIS 정책 방향을 모색하기 위해 우리나라와 일본의 유비쿼터스 정책 및 국가GIS 추진전략을 상호 비교하여 각 분야별 시사점을 도출하였다.

최근 유비쿼터스 환경의 특성을 바탕으로 모든 자원을 지능화하여 네트워크화 함으로써 시간과 공간의 제약없이 어떤 서비스의 제공도 가능한 환경을 구현하여 국민 삶의 질 향상 및 창의성을 극대화하고, 산업생산성을 증대시킨다. 특히 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅, 정보통신기술을 기반으로 도시 전반의 영역을 융합하여, 통합되고, 지능적이며, 스스로 혁신되는 공간을 구성하는 유비쿼터스 관련기술이 활발히 연구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유비쿼터스 시스템이 시설물에 적용될 때 필요한 기반 기술과 시스템의 종류에 알아보고 사례연구를 통해 유비쿼터스 시스템의 필요성과 기대효과를 분석함으로써 다중 이용 시설물에서 유비쿼터스 시스템을 구축할 수 있는 방안에 대해서 알아보고자 한다.

The Ubiquitous life is not a life style that exists in a science fiction or in a far distance future anymore. The Combination of electronic and physical space, this new type of space was created by the ubiquitous network system, and this system will offer us new life style. Also the pattern of our living will be changed by the information that has obtained from this ubiquitous network system. By offering a new way of communication from the ubiquitous surrounding, our life style such as shopping, medical treatment, banking, and working conditions and a notion such as the preference in a job title would have shifted. This study have arrived at the development of the high technology, in other words Ubiquitous age , I have considered the notion of home-network that have observed by the preceding investigators as well as the theoretical consideration of residential space in ubiquitous surrounding. After I look into the usages and examples of residential space in ubiquitous surrounding of today's society, I hope that this would be helpful for the design that strives for the comfortable living in this ubiquitous age.
