Background and Methods: In order to evaluate characteristics and modulatory factors of blood pressure in peritoneal dialysis(PD), studies were conducted on the 69 patients who had underwent peritoneal equilibration test(PET). Results: The results were as follows; 1) All patients received an antihypertensive drug before PD, but, 15 of 69 patients successfully quit taking the antihypertensive drug after peritoneal dialysis. 2) During peritoneal dialysis, mean arterial pressure(MAP) was significantly decreased for the first 3 months, and this lasted for 1 year, and antihypertensive drug requirements were significantly decreased continuously up to 9 months(p<0.05). 3) After changing the modality from hemodialysis to peritoneal dialysis, MAP(mmHg, from $107.0{\pm}4.5$ to $98.6{\pm}8.8$, p<0.05), antihypertensive drug requirements(from $5.6{\pm}2.6$, to $2.0{\pm}2.5$, p<0.01) and erythropoietin dosages(Uint/week, from $4600{\pm}2660$ to $2000{\pm}1630$, p<0.05) were decreased. 4) Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that MAP(p<0.01) and daily ultrafiltration volume(p<0.05) can contribute to the determination of antihypertensive drug requirements. However the relationship between antihypertensive drug requirements and PET results or dialysis adequacy indices(weekly Kt/V, weekly creatinine clearance) was not revealed. Conclusion: In conclusion, the prescription of antihypertensive drugs should be considered according to daily ultrafiltration volume, especially during first year after initiating PD, and follow-ups for over a year may be needed.

The errors between track segments or at the cross-over points of shipborne gravity were successfully reduced by applying a cross-over error adjustment technique using satellite gravity. The integration of shipborne and satellite altimeter-implied free-air gravity anomalies after the cross-over error adjustment resulted in a high resolution gravity map which contains both short and long wavelength components. The successful adjustment of the cross-over errors in the shipborne gravity using the satellite gravity suggests that the shipborne gravity can be combined with the satellite anomalies characterized by a stable and long wavelength component. The resulting free-air anomaly map is evenly harmonized with both short and long wavelength anomalies. Thus the corrected anomaly map can be better used for the geological interpretation. Free-air anomalies with more than 140 mGal in total variations generally correspond to the seafloor topographic changes in their regional patterns. A series of gravity highs are aligned from the Korea Plateau to the Oki Island, which are interpreted to be caused by seamounts or volcanic topographies. The gravity minima along the western and southern shelf edge are associated not only with the local basement morphology and thick sediment fill at the continental margin, but also possibly with the crustal edge effect known for passive continental margins. Series of NE-trending linear anomalies are possibly caused by a swarm of volcanic intrusions followed the initial opening of the Ulleung Basin. The linear high anomalies in the Ulleung Plateau are terminated by the straightly NNW-trending anomalies with a sharp gradient in its western boundary which indicates a fault-line scarp. The opposite side adjoined with the fault-line scarp shows no correlation with the fault-line scarp in geometry indicating that the block might be horizontally slided from the north. A gravity high in contrast to the deepening in seafloor toward the northeastern central Ulleung Basin is probably responsible for the thin crust and shallow seated mantle. Geological sequestration of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) is one of the most effective strategies far long-term removal of greenhouse gas from atmosphere. This paper reviews three projects for the $CO_2$ sequestration in geological formation. A unique $CO_2$ injection into a marine aquifer has been successfully monitored with repeated surface seismic measurements in the North Sea Sleipner West field. The seismic images reveal the extent and internal shape of the $CO_2$ bubble. Massive miscible $CO_2$ has been injected into a complex fractured carbonate reservoir at the Weyburn oil filed. High-resolution time-lapse P-wave data were successfully obtained to map the features of $CO_2$ movements within the two thin zones of different lithology. From the time-lapse crosswell EM imaging at the Lost Hills oil field in central California, U.S.A., the replacement of brine with $CO_2$ has been confirmed through a decrease of conductivity. The conductivity image was successfully compared with induction logs observed in the two wells.
Located on Java subduction zone, Merapi volcano is an active stratovolcano with a volcanic activity cycle of 1-5 years. Merapi's eruptions were relatively small with VEI 1-3. However, the most recent eruption occurred in 2010 was quite violent with VEI 4 and 386 people were killed. In this study, we have attempted to study the characteristics of Merapi's eruptions during 18 years using optical Landsat images. We have collected a total of 55 Landsat images acquired from July 6, 1994 to September 1, 2012 to identify pyroclastic flows and their temporal changes from false color images. To extract areal extents of pyroclastic flows, we have performed supervised classification after atmospheric correction by using COST model. As a result, the extracted dimensions of pyroclastic flows are nearly identical to the CVP monthly reports. We have converted the thermal band of Landsat TM and ETM+ to the surface temperature using NASA empirical formula and calculated time-series of the mean surface temperature in the area of peak temperature surrounding the crater. The mean surface temperature around the crater repeatedly showed the tendency to rapidly rise before eruptions and cool down after eruptions. Although Landsat satellite images had some limitations due to weather conditions, these images were useful tool to observe the precursor changes in surface temperature before eruptions and map the pyroclastic flow deposits after eruptions at Merapi volcano.
Interest in all kinds of renewable energies has been highly increased while the micro-small-hydro power(MSHP) development has shown relatively slowly growth because of the negative public recognition about dam site development. It is, however, announced that the micro-SHP shows higher energy conversion efficiency compared to other renewable energies and does not emit any carbon dioxide. Thus, it is concerned about the development and application of micro-SHP as an alternative energy. In this study, the application for Android was exploited with Eclipse to visualize readily the potential realizable amount of hydropower by micro-SHP. With this application, we can select the region from the map, obtain the design discharge of the selected site was calculated with HEC-HMS, presented by U.S. Army of Corp. and perform the simply economic analysis in sequence. Yeongwol in Gangwon-do Province, Korea was chosen as the target area since historically abundant precipitation was found and it is possible to obtain fundamental data from WAMIS. Results from this study could be expanded the whole region of Korea. Also, the initial investment cost would be reduced if the location for micro-SHP would be determined properly, because this application can help us easily select and examine the potential micro-SHP sites without on-the-spot visit.

In recent years, the introduction of complex systems analysis based on various variables has become more active in order to identify and analyze complex problems of Modern Society. Prediction of patients' spatial perception and usability according to the spatial arrangement of the outpatient department is a very important factor for providing high quality hospital service. For objective analysis, the standard program procedure and analysis index for the diseases of the elderly were prepared and the uniformity of the atmospheric space was evaluated through heat map analysis and quantitative analysis. In this study, 73 cells were installed and simulated to analyze the uniformity of the four alternatives according to the change of the arrangement of the medical care space, receiving space, and consultation space using the complex system analysis method for the nursing hospitals. The resulting density was derived. The results are as follows. 1)The layout of the reception space has the greatest influence on the total spatial density of the waiting space. 2) The uniformity of the waiting space can be increased by separating the examination space and the examination space. 3)The closer the location of the receiving space is from the entrance, the greater the density of the waiting space. Finally, this study applied discrete event simulation to the evaluation of uniformity of atmosphere space, and proved that the actor - based model can be utilized for utilization and evaluation as spatial analysis methodology.
The objective of the paper was to estimate the changes in acreages of tidal flats after the seawall construction at the Asan Bay and the Chunsu Bay from topographic maps, hydrographic charts, and Landsat TM images. The tidal floats from topographic maps published in one year differ significantly from that in the other, which appears to be attributed to the tide levels at the time of photographing. The hydrographic charts showed that tidal flats increase at rates of 22.3 ha/yr at the Asan Bay and 56.6 ha/yr at the Chunsu Bay after the dike construction. Applying the ISODATA method of unsupervised classifications for the Landsat TM images, the tidal flats were identified, and the resulting acreages for each image estimated. The resulting tidal flats increased at the rates of 21.3 ha/yr at the Asan Bay and 47.3 ha/yr at the Chunsu Bay during twelve years after the dike construction. It was found that the rates of the annual increases from the two data are very close and the differences result from the coastal lines at the charts and the TM images.

Emotional design gets more and more important. However, the systematical approaches to integration of user experience elements in product design have been rarely tried. This study consists of three parts. We extracted affective words fitting to design direction based on trend analysis. Then, user experience elements were matched with affective words. Finally, a prototype system was made to guide designing affective factors in electronic products. In the present study, user experience elements were defined as color, material & finishing, and sound. Through various documents analysis and trend analysis, trend analysis experts and user experience designers extracted 31 affective keywords which could fully reflect current trend. After paired-comparison of selected keywords, 2 sensibility dimensions were obtained by multidimensional scaling. Trend affective keywords could be explained by 2 dimensions of human-centered' vs. 'techno-centered' and 'warm vs. cool'. Next, user experience elements stimuli were matched with each keyword by user direct positioning on the 2 dimensions affective map. Based on the result of the experiment, the prototype system was developed for the product designers. The results of the current study could guide designers to design emotionally satisfactory products.
Abstract This paper introduces our experience for developing a public transportation guidance system, which facilitates the World-Wide Web(WWW) to provide users with easier access and use. The proposed system is composed of four subsystems: client/server system, path search system, traffic data storage system, and traffic raw-data management system. The user interface in clients utilizes Java to furnish users with multimedia data accessibility and interactivity. The server processes clients' requests based on the traffic data coming from remote sensing devices and interacts with the path search system and traffic data storage system to provide users with the results. The path search system, which uses a modified A* algorithm, produces optimal solutions based on dynamic traffic data. The traffic data storage system stores the current traffic information together with the geographical information about the b$us_way routes. The traffic raw-data management system is a graphical user interface which enables the system manager to handle the traffic information easily on the map in the terminal screen. The system has considerable benefits such as portability, scalability, and flexibility since it is implemented using Java. Also, it can be extended to an integrated Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS) which includes a variety of information on the Internet as well as traffic information.n.
It has been previously described that transcription factor early growth response gene product 1 (EGR-1) functions as a tumor suppressor gene. This study was conducted to demonstrate that EGR-1 induction by phytochemical apigenin and its derivative isovitexin can mediate the growth suppression of the intestinal epithelial tumor cells. Apigenin and isovitexin induced EGR-1 gene expression both in the dose and time-dependent manners. Moreover the induction was relatively late around 9-12 hr after treatment of HCT-116 cells, while several anti-inflammatory agent such as NSAIDS and catechins elicit the ECR-1 gene expression at much earlier time about 1-3 hr after treatment. In terms of signal transduction, ERK1/2 was critical for apigenin-induced EGR-1 gene expression and its promoter activation. When EGR-1 gene expression was blocked with EGR-1 small interference RNA, the cytotoxicity of apigenin in the human epithelial cells was attenuated, suggesting the involvement of EGR-1 in the anti-tumoric activity of apigenin. To link the EGR-1 induction to EGR-1-regulated gene products in colon cancer, NSAID-Activated Gene 1 (NAG-1) was demonstrated to be elevated by apigenin and isovitexin at 24-48 hr after treatment. Taken together, apigenin-activated ERK1/2 mediated EGR-1 gene induction, which was associated with suppression of the cellular viability by apigenin compound.
