  • Professional baseball is one of the spectator sports that has been loved for a long time by the citizens as a recreational activity since its establishment in 1982, and has been playing pivotal role as a national sport. However, there has been decline in the number of audiences since 2019. Hence, this research paper aimed to provide strategic direction for planning and improvement of professional baseball stadiums by applying the concept of servicescape. In this research, five key factors of servicescape that affects players performance and the level of immersion of spectators were derived through literature review, and based on these key factors, case study analysis were carried out for 51 domestic and foreign baseball stadiums while focusing on the factors derived. Domestic baseball stadiums highly concentrate on spectatorship without effectively responding to change in spectators demand and its effective use of space rather than baseball games. As in foreign cases, it is critical to modify mangement process and planning direction, and improve policies while perceiving baseball stadium as recreational and cultural space.

  • This study aims to present the direction of development of a policy framework to solve the problems associated with Smart Cities. For this purpose, first, after investigating the development process of domestic smart cities, we examined various cases of smart city policies being established overseas. Second, we analyzed the existing research into smart cities, in order to understand the relationship between the major issues. Third, an expert interview was conducted based on the identified issues. Fourth, we presented the direction of development of a Smart City policy framework to solve the major problems associated with domestic and foreign smart cities. In the policy framework presented in this research, after subdividing the elements used for solving each problem, we linked them with the smart city components and selected matching executable agents to prepare solutions. Then, once the deliberation process of the National Smart City Committee and the Smart Urban Service Support Organization has been completed, the government will support it financially and politically. It also suggested that it is necessary to perform continuous information gathering and monitoring work, along with the construction of a control tower to strengthen the network effect between smart city related markets. This research has significance in that it presents the procedures required for efficiently responding to the problems arising in the smart city promotion process. It is expected that it will serve as the basis for establishing policies dealing with the development and advancement of domestic smart cities in the future.

  • This study is aimed at investigating the compensatory education which was already implemented or is being implemented in the U.S.A. and Japan; and at studying the types of programs and their characteristics; and at sounding out the possibilities of the application of such programs in family and social conditions is Korea. In order to achieve the above mentioned objectives, the established items for the study are as follows: (1) Various types of early children's education (2) Programs of compensatory education for the disadvantaged Children (3) Head Start Program, Early Training Project and Montessori School (4) Integrated Preschool Programs (5) Day-Care Center for employed mothers We investigated the various compensatory education programs for the preschool children who are in economically, socially, culturally disadvantaged conditions. Head Start Programs were federally supported programs for preschool children and opened as summer programs in 1965 for the first time. The purpose of Head Start has been to give preschool children the kinds of experiences they need in preparation for school. The Head Start children were found to be significantly better prepared for school than the normal children. However, after six to eight months, their initial advantages had virtually. disappeared and then the simple problem with Head Start and other such programs was that little long-term good could be evidenced unless the high quality educational environment was maintained. Therefore, to solve this problem, three other programs were funded as part of the overall Head Start. These three programs are the Parent-Child Center, Home Start, and the Child and Family Resources Program. The Early Training Project for disadvantaged children was implemented by Klaus and Gray of Peabody College in 1962. The program was a field research study concerned with the development and testing over time of procedures for improving the educability of young children from low income homes. Its major concern was to study whether it was possible to offset the progressive retardation observed in the public schooling careers of children, living in deprived circumstances. Children, who were trained through the Early Training Project were superior to control groups in the test of IQ and vocabulary as well as linguistic abilities, and preparation for reading. This project showed the possibilities which could prevent preschool children from being disadvantaged socially, culturally and mentally. In 1907, Montessori School was established by Maria Montessori in Italy and her school program has been introduced at present to several countries in the world as one compensatory educations. She first began her experimental methods with retarded children, followed by disadvantaged children from the tenements of Rome. The Montessori approach futures a prepared environment and carefully designed, self-correcting materials. The Montessori curriculum presents tastes that feature sequence, order, and regularity, in addition to those that develop motor and sensory skills. She was interested in children's intellectual development and in developing good work habits. One of the latest developed programs for disadvantaged children is "Integrated Preschool Program" which has successfully integrated handicapped and nonhandicapped children. Several studies have showed that handicapped children in integrated school environments are accepted by and interact with their nonhandicapped peers. In fact, this program provides a number of potential, and perhaps opportunities for nonhandicapped children to serve as valuable resources in fostering the development of their handicapped peers. Next we turn to Japanese programs which are divided into two different types. One is Day-Care Center which was established by Child Welfare Law and the other is kindergarten organized by School Education Law. The kindergarten opened in 1876 and it has been part of school systems since 1947 by the implementation of education law, and the Day-Care Center which started in 1890 for the employed mothers. was changed into Day-Nursery by the enactment of child welfare law in 1947. The laws and operational regulations for the Day-Nursery were set up and were put in effect by the establishment standard acts of children welfare facilities, and the Day-Nursery has been operated in various types by the increasing demand, chiefly because of the socio-economical changes of family structures in both urban and suburban areas. Nursery education for physically and mentally disadvantaged children is for those who are blind, deaf and dumb, mentally retarded; physically disadvantaged by accidents or diseases. Montessori education in Japan was started in 1968 and many research groups for studying Montessori were organized. In 1977, Montessori remedial education society was also organized in which they started a number of studies; a study for developing materials; in-service training for the remedial education; and seminars and lectures, etc It is strongly suggested that we study the early educations that are being implemented in Japan and a variety of compensatory educations that were already implemented in the U.S.A. and modify them for the organization of our own model and properly accommodate them to our social needs.

  • Wireless mesh networks contain multi-hop routing protocols between wireless nodes and are connected to the Internet through a gateway. These networks perform a role as a backbone and are scalable for main applications. We propose the design of QoS supporting mechanisms for wireless mesh networks using software defined networking. Our proposed scheme is cost-effective and features adaptive QoS mechanisms for wireless router's resource constraints. The QoS mechanisms use software defined networking technology with Openflow protocol based on diffserv and intserv models with MPLS mechanism and RSVP respectively. A performance evaluation model is suggested to verify the validity of the proposed scheme using several QoSmetrics of the wireless mesh networks.

  • Ultrasonic inspection system consist of the operator, equipment and procedure. The reliability of results in ultrasonic inspection is affected by its ability. Furthermore, the reliability of nondestructive testing is influenced by the inspection environment, materials and types of defect. Therefore, it is very difficult to estimate the reliability of NDT due to the various factors. In this study, the probability of detection by logistic probability model and Monte Carlo simulation is used for the reliability assessment of ultrasonic inspection. The utility of the NDT reliability assesment is verified by the analysis of the data from round robin test nth these models.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a list of plants that adapted to the aquatic environment in urban areas based on the list of plants surveyed through literature review and field surveys, and to classify the types of vegetation according to the five categories of plant distributions set by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (1988) in the aspect of the adaptability of plants to the aquatic environment. Results of the classification by category according to the adaptability to the aquatic environment for the plant species surveyed through literature review and field surveys showed that there are 45 species of OBL, 96 species of FACW, 66 species of FAC, and 94 species of FACU, totaling 650 species. In addition, a total of 50 species excluding exotic species, endangered species, and naturally introduced plants are proposed as appropriate plants for the urban aquatic environment that will be artificially constructed. The results of the study can be utilized as the basic information for maintaining diversity and stability of the ecosystem during the restoration of water ecology; they can serve as useful data for the development of an optimum vegetation model when planting in water spaces in the future and preparing proper planting plans for each space. In addition, it is believed that the information will be useful in wetland identification and evaluation by observing plant species that appear only in wetlands.

  • While much attention has been given to pedestrian environments recently, methods to evaluate their service level have not been fully developed yet. Although many kinds of pedestrian environment-related surveys and field studies are conducted, data are not systematically collected and accumulated due to the lack of consistent evaluation tools and methods. In this regard, it is necessary to develop reasonable evaluation methods for pedestrian environments. This paper suggests technical indices to evaluate pedestrian environments for a city. These indices provide useful ways to determine priorities to enhance pedestrian streets and also provide ways to compare cross sectional and time series changes of pedestrian environments. These indices therefore can be used as criteria for pedestrian environment planning and policy.

  • This study's purpose was to analyze the effect of the SmartCare obesity management pilot project, which was conducted between 09 March 2011 and 03 April 2013 in Korea (South). Of 212 subjects who were enrolled in the study, the final analysis was conducted with 147 subjects who completed their weight self-measurements and SmartCare services until the end of a 6-month service period. The self-measurement group for evaluation was classified into 3 groups (Low, Middle, and High) by evenly dividing the monthly average frequency of measurement for 6 months and the evaluation indices were weight, and BMI (Body Mass Index) transmitted from the SmartCare System. The monthly average weight and BMI were decreased more in the High Group than the Middle Group and Low Group (M5: High>Middle>Low), and they are showing statistically significant differences between groups (p< 0.05). In conclusion, analysis of the weight and BMI improvement effect showed a greater improvement effect when the self-measurement frequency level was higher.

  • As Ubiquitous commerce is coming personalization service is getting interested. And also the recommendation method which offers useful information to customer becomes more important. However, most of them depend on specific method and are restricted to the E-commerce. For applying these recommendation methods into U-commerce, first it is necessary that the extended context modeling and systematic connection of the methods to complement strength and weakness of recommendation methods in each commercial transaction. Therefore, we propose a mod-eling technique of context information related to personal activation in commercial transaction and show incremental preference analysis method, using preference tree which is closely connected to recommendation method in each step. And also, we use an XML indexing technique to effi-ciently extract the recommendation information from a preference tree.
