  • This study examines the vision/strategies of policy for the public services based ubiquitous-IT. That policy is for searching the ubiquitous based people-friendly public services and promoting the industry related u-IT. This article's purposes are below; first, making the policy for activating the ubiquitous based public services, second, looking for the core subjects focused on practical value, and finally, proposing the system for the cooperation between public and private sector.

  • This study is intended to examine the types of U-public service that can be introduced to the public sector by making an empirical analysis on Chungju City public officials. Specially, to analyze the public officials' recognition of the types of ubiquitous public service that can be introduced to the public sector, this study investigates the utility and necessity of ubiquitous information technology when making use of it in terms of administrative concepts. To achieve study purpose, this study examines what type of U-public service is highly likely to be applied and basically has to be applied when ubiquitous information technology is applied to the current environment of Chungju City in stages.

A Study on the Effects of Quality of u-City Service on Customer Satisfaction in the Korea : Focusing on Public Services (한국의 u-City서비스 품질이 고객만족에 미치는 영향 : 공공서비스를 중심으로)

  • This paper aims to study the effects of quality of u-City public service on customer satisfaction in the Korea and is summarized as follows. First, we propose a model for assessing customer's satisfaction on u-City public services. The model comprises of information system (IS) quality, information quality, service quality and publicity. For verifying a model, a statistical study by SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 16.0 has been performed. Second, it is shown from the analysis that information system (IS) quality, information quality and publicity have a positive effect on customer satisfaction. while service quality does not. Last, the study shows that u-City public service enables any citizen to connect to necessary service in anytime and anywhere.

  • 최근 유가의 상승은 공간이동의 비용을 매우 크게하여 경제성장을 약화시키고 있다. 이러한 시기에 본 논문은 시간적/공간적 제약을 극복하고 효율적으로 작업할 수 있는 서비스 모델을 제안한다. 인터넷 및 IT인프라의 발전은 사람들이 시간과 공간의 제약없이 언제, 어디에서나 누구와도 작업할 수 있도록 가능하게 할 것이다. 정해진 시간이 아니라 자기가 일하고 싶은 시간에 가상의 일터에서 가상의 조직을 이용하여 전 세계 어디에 있는 누구와도 같이 일을 할 수 있는 공간이 만들어지는 것이다. 이렇게 일하는 방식을 u-Work이라하며 u-Work서비스가 가능하게 해 준다. 본 논문은 u-Work의 유형을 재택근무, 이동원격근무, u-Work센터근무로 분류하고, 공공기관 u-Work서비스 모델을 제안하고자 한다. 또한, 제안한 공공기관 u-Work서비스 모델의 구축방안을 시설인프라 측면, IT인프라 측면, 운용인프라 측면으로 나누어 기술한다. 구축된 u-Work서비스는 전 세계의 전문인력을 활용할 수도 있으며, 사회적 약자의 생산활동 참여 기회를 높이는 등 유연한 노동시장을 만들어 줄 것이다.

On the Relationship of u-Security Service, Usefulness and Citizen Satisfaction (u-방범서비스와 유용성 및 시민만족의 관계)

  • This paper aims to study on the relationship of u-Security service, usefulness and citizen satisfaction. Independence variable is u-Security service, a mediation parameter is usefulness, and dependent variable is citizen satisfaction. Using SPSS 18.0, a series of factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis and path analysis have been performed. The conclusion is as following. First, u-Security service affects usefulness. That is, as publicity safety, system quality, service quality increase, usefulness increases. Second, u-Security service affects citizen satisfaction. That is, as publicity safety, system quality, service quality increase, citizen satisfaction increases. Third, usefulness affects citizen satisfaction. That is, as economic usefulness and security usefulness increase, citizen satisfaction increases. Last, u-Security service has direct and indirect effect in usefulness and citizen satisfaction. That is, usefulness is an important variable that mediates u-Security service and citizen satisfaction.

  • This study aims to explore the significance of homework help service as a library program to support young people in the community and investigate the characteristics of homework help services in U.S. public libraries. It reviews the previous literature on the cases and trend of homework help services in U.S. public libraries. It also investigates the practice and characteristics of homework help services using an email survey targeting public libraries that offer the services. The results are analyzed in terms of the user, collection, space, public relations and human resources of homework help services. This study may contribute to eliciting the service plan on homework help service in its planning and implementation stage in public libraries.

  • This paper aims to study the relationship of U-Traffic Service Quality and User Satisfaction. Independence variables is u-traffic service quality, and mediation parameters are publicity, usefulness and economic. Dependent variable is user satisfaction. Using SPSS 18.0, a series of factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis and path analysis have been performed. The conclusion is as follows. First, U-traffic service quality have a positive effect on user satisfaction directly. Second, U-traffic service quality have a positive effect on user satisfaction through mediation parameters of publicity, usefulness and economic. Third, service quality factor of the U-traffic service quality have more effect on user satisfaction than system quality factor. Last, usefulness among mediation parameters have the most positive effect on user satisfaction.

The Need for Information Literacy Instruction for Public Library Internet Service Users (공공도서관의 인터넷서비스 이용자를 위한 정보이용능력 지도의 필요성에 관한 연구)

  • This research is a study designed to identify the needs for information literacy instruction for the U.S. public library Internet service users. The levels and needs of Internet service users as well as the development and effectiveness of the Internet services at the U.S. public libraries were investigated. The survey was administered to the Internet service users at four public libraries in the upper Midwest region of the U.S.A total of 386 surveys were collected and analyzed. The result showed that as the years of Internet use experience and the level of expertise increases, user satisfaction decreases. However, the users who had taken any Internet class showed more satisfaction than who had not. This research offers a new direction and need for information literacy instruction for public library Internet service users.

  • In this paper, we introduce an integrated performance evaluation model defined by the three indices (evaluation index for each evaluation stage, performance viewpoint, and performance type) and analyze the utilization and satisfaction of the seven public u-IT services implemented from 2008 to 2009 using the proposed model. From the performance results of the public u-IT services, it was found out that most of the research goals initially set by the public u-IT service support projects were satisfied. Furthermore, we suggest improvement directions and promotion strategies of future projects.

Public Library Services for Immigrants in the United States: Then and Now (미국 공공도서관의 이민자 대상 서비스: 과거와 현재)

  • This study examines and compares public library services for immigrants in the U.S. in the early 1900s and nowadays. U.S. public libraries in the early 1900s supported the Americanizing movement by opening English language classes and providing information that is essential for U.S. citizenship. Public librarians also recognized the importance of foreign language materials; by providing foreign language materials and developing diverse services to reach immigrants, public libraries eventually hastened assimilation processes. Despite a gap of one hundred years, the situation today is not very different. Public libraries still try hard to serve their ethnic patrons with extensive foreignlanguage collections and culturally diverse library programs, while still emphasizing English language education.
