  • Seascape means the scenery which is composed around the sea., Seascape has it's own characteristics compared with landscape and has many important roles in our urban life. Nowadays seascape is being destructed by the development in waterfront area and ocean space. Especially the various kind of buildings which are built in coastal area give great visual impact on seascape. But we have rare research on seascape and no guideline for seascape planning. Before any action against destroying seascape the assessment of seascape has to be preceded. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the representative seascapes which are selected from over 300 slides of various seascapes according to the types of seascapes. We used S.D (Semantic Differential) method with 35 adjective pairs in seven scale to evaluate each seascape. The results can be summarized as follows. 1) Seascapes can be classified as natural type and urban type. The natural type can be divided into beach type and rock-island type. 2) Natural type of seascape is more prefered than urban type. 3)Beach type is the most prefered among seascape types. 4) Natural elements of seascape such as sky, water, sand, trees, forest, mountain, open space, waterfront line, are evaluated as 'good' to see but artificial elements, such as buildings, persons, roads, structures, are evaluated 'bad' to see. 5)As a result of factor analysis five factors(axes) are found out. They are 'wildness', 'vividness', 'preference', 'interest', and 'openness'. These factors can be used for evaluting any seascape.

The introduction of this 'the natural element' delivers the pleasure and stability to the consumer buying process and availability is enlarged. Therefore, the purpose of study is gain that expression and characteristic method of the natural element in the commercial space. The detailed study method are as follows. First, the study looks into the natural element expression tendency in the modern space. Second, the expression type of the natural element was classified as 'Reappearance', 'Transformation', and 'Fuse' based on the preceding research. And according to the content of the expression type, subdivided method of 'Inclusion' and 'Replication' of 'Reappearance' and method of 'Imitation' and 'Association' of 'Transformation' and method of 'Juxtaposition' and 'Combine' of 'Fuse'. Third, the result of analyze the characteristic of expression of the natural element of the besides the commercial space case 20 place is as follows. First, 'Inclusion' of 'Reappearance' introduced the external scenery or planned garden as the inside through the opening. 'Replication' is used for decorative purposes or functional purposes as the natural element. 'Imitation' of 'Transformation' imitated the form, pattern, and color of the natural element and was mainly expressed in the wall and objet. The method of 'Association' expressed the concept of the natural element for the whole of the space and a portion of the wall and objet repetitively. As for 'Juxtaposition', mixture of 'Reappearance' had a good visual effect, because it can be obtained the external-internal nature. As for 'Combine', mixture of 'Replication' and 'Imitation' was the most common method. Thus, the study results are expected to be utilized as base date in designing the commercial with development of the natural element application method.

  • Since 2000 country region developmental policy has been to integrate not only the improvement of physical living environment but also various subjects on ecology, environment, scenery, local culture, and green tourism. This study has recently established a decentralized Rainwater Management plan in order to provide an hydrology cycle system to the eco-village being planned by Seocheon-gun as a part of the garden village development business promoted by the ministry of agriculture and forestry. Hydraulic conductivity of the subject area is measured at $10^{-7}{\sim}10^{-10}m/sec$, and a flowerbed-type rainwater Infiltration system capable of controlling a non-point pollution source that stems from the development-caused impermeable surface has been applied. In the case of rainwater flowing out from the main entrance way and parking lot within the complex being treated in the flowerbed-type rainwater infiltration system, natural purification effects via soil and plants as well as natural water cycling effects through evaportranspiration and infiltration are expected. The significance of this study, compared to conventional decentralized rainwater management being applied limited to the urban areas, is that it offers appropriate rainwater management planning based on the analysis of the current situation of the subject area. Decentralized Rainwater Management is a valuable measure both economically and ecologically that reduces the burdens on local underground water cultivation as well as rain water pipe lines or purification systems, and sewage pipes.
