  • In the sixth grade mathematics, drawing of development figures of the triangular prism and the quadrangular prism is recommended in terms of the creativity. In this sense, the teacher has the need to check in advance all the possible development figures of the triangular prism and the quadrangular prism before teaching on them. However, previous studies that currently give all the possible development figures of the triangular prism and the quadrangular prism are hard to find. For this reason, in this paper, as a study of teaching materials for the professional development of elementary school teachers, the method of finding all the possible development figures of the triangular prism and all the possible development figures of the quadrangular prism without omissions and overlaps and the number of each of development figures which can be obtained by that method are discussed. Here lengths of the three sides of base planes of the triangular prism are different each other and lengths of the four sides of base planes of the quadrangular prism are different each other. This discussion is needed in terms of a study of teaching materials in order to prepare for predictable questions to ask the number of the possible development figures of the triangular prism and the number of the possible development figures of the quadrangular prism in classes. In addition, through this discussion, this paper presents the development figures of the triangular prism and the development figures of the quadrangular prism without omissions and overlaps. And teachers can take advantage of them for determining the correctness of the development figures drew by students and guiding students to draw the development figures creatively in actual classes.

  • The flowfield characteristics of a square prism having a small triangular prism at the upstream side were investigated by visualizing the flow field using PIV. The ratio of the width of the triangular prism to that of the square prism and the gap ratios between the square and triangular prisms were selected as the experimental parameters. The results are summarized as follows. The Strouhal number measured on the wake side of the square prism, which had the same characteristics as the drag reduction rate, increased, and then decreased with the gap ratio for the same width ratio. For a square prism having a small triangular prism, the stagnation regions were represented at the upstream and downstream sides of the square prism. The size of the stagnation region increased with the width ratio at the upstream side of the square prism, and decreased at the downstream side.

  • The characteristics of the fluid force reduction of a square prism having a small triangular prism at the upstream side was investigated by measuring of lift and drag on the square prism The experimental parameters were the width ratios (H/B=0.2~0.6) of triangular prisms to the prism width and the gap ratios (G/B=0~3) between the square prism and the triangular prism. The drag reduction rate of the square prism was increased and then decreased with G/B in case of the same H/B, and was increased with H/B in case of the same G/B. The maximum drag reduction rate was represented by 78.5% at H/B=0.6 and G/B=1.5. The lift reduction rate of the square prism was hardly not affected by the width and gaps ratios, the average value was about 52.4%.

  • The effects of porous wind fence on the pressure characteristics around a 2-dimensional prism model of triangular cross-section were investigated experimentally. The fence and prism model were embedded in a neutral atmospheric surface boundary layer over the city suburb. In this study, various fences of different porosity, back fence, inclination angle of prism and location of additional back prisms were tested to investigate their effects on the pressure and wall shear stress of the prism surface. The fence and prism had the same height of 40 mm and Reynolds number based on the model height was Re=3.9*10$^{4}$. The porous fence with porosity 40% was found to be the best wind fence for decreasing the mean and pressure fluctuations on the prism surface. By installing the fence of porosity 40%, the wall shear stress on the windward surface of prism was largely decreased up to 1/3 of that without the fence. This indicates that the porous fence is most effective to abate the wind erosion. Pressure fluctuations on the model surface were decreased more than half when a back fence was located behind the prism in addition to the front fence. With locating several back prisms and decreasing the inclination angle of triangular prism, the pressure fluctuations on the model surface were increased on the contrary.

  • The shelter effect of a porous wind fence on a triangular prism was experimentally investigated in a circulating water channel. A porous fence of porosity .epsilon.=38.5% was installed in front of the prism model. The fence and prism model were embedded in a turbulent boundary layer. The instantaneous velocity fields around the fence and prism model were measured by using the instantaneous velocity fields around the fence and prism model were measured by using the 2-frame PTV(Particle Tracking Velocimetry) system. By installing the fence in front of the prism, the recirculation flow region decreases compared with that of no fence case. The porous fence also decreases the mean velocity, turbulent intensity and turbulent kinetic energy around the prism. Especially, at the top of the prism, the turbulent kinetic energy is about half of that without the fence.

  • Effeccs of porous wind fence on surface-pressure around 2-dimensional prism model of triangular cross-section were investigated experimentally. The pressure data were obtained at a Reynolds number based on the model height of Re=2.1*10$^{5}$ . Flow visualization also carried out to investigate the flow structure qualitatively. The mean velocity and turbulent intensity profiles measured at fence location were well fitted to the neutral atmospheric surface boundary layer over the open terrain. Various fences with different porosity and height were tested to investigate their effects on the surface pressure acting on a prism model at different locations. As the results, porous fence with porosity 40 ~ 50% is most effective for abating wind erosion. With decreasing porosity of the fence, pressure fluctuations on the model surface are increased. The mean pressure coefficients are decreased only when the fence height is greater than the model height. The effect of distance between wind fence and triangular prism was not significant, compared to that of the fence porosity and height.

  • We have investigated anamorphic prism lenses with distortions of 0.3-0.5%. We designed the plastic triangular lens and confirmed the minimum resolution using MTF graphs. Also we confirmed that the SVGA optical system can realize a resolution of $864{\times}648$ 56 megapixels. A distortion of about 0.5% aberration appears in the maximum field, and a finite beam aberration of about $15{\mu}m$ is confirmed. We made a mold based on the design data and completed the prism lens through exodus molding. We confirmed the shape error (< $30{\mu}m$) and surface roughness (> 40 nm) of the three sides. We made the video-information-display prototype glasses using prism lens by measuring the performance, we determined the distortion aberration (0.3%) and SVGA resolution. Our approach will enable fabrication of a portable large-screen display device for glasses and sunglasses for the domestic market and, after 2015, for the world market.

  • This paper presents the results of some measurement of the fluctuating velocity field in the turbulent boundary layer disturbed by a triangular prism and discusses the discovery of the disturbed boundary layer. A prism of height 8mm was used for experiments. The streamwise location of the prism was fixed at 1200mm downstream from the leading edge and the space between the prism center and the wall was set at three different values, 6, 15 and 33.5mm. The results show that the near-wall region of the disturbed boundary layer recovers original state much more quickly than the outer region. In the case h=6mm the recovery is faster than the other cases. Moreover, it was found that peak of fluctuating velocities moves outwards somewhat rapidly with increasing ${\times}$ mainly due to the turbulent diffusion of the fluctuating velocity.

  • The wind-flow characteristics over a two-dimensional triangular prism with a porous windbreak are numerically investigated. The geometry is a simplified model of large outdoor stack with a frontal wall-type windbreak which is used to prevent particle dispersion by reducing wind speed over stak surface. In the present numerical model, the RNG k-$\varepsilon$ model, the orthogonal grid system and the QUICK scheme are employed for the successful simulation of separated flow. The predicted results are compared and validated with the associated wind-tunnel experiments. In addition, the trajectories of dispersed particles and their sedimentation characteristics are quantitatively investingated using a Lagrangian turbulent-dispersion model.

  • In this study, we investigate the Characteristics of the flowfields of a circular cylinder having a small triangular prism at the upstream side. We measure the fluid force on the circular cylinder and obtain a visualization of the flow fields using particle image velocimetry (PIV). The experimental parameters employed were the width ratios (H/B = 0.2~0.6) of the triangular prisms to the circular cylinder's diameter, and the gap ratios (G/B = 0~3) between the circular cylinder and the triangular prism. We observed that the drag reduction rate and Strouhal number of the circular cylinder increased and then decreased with G/B in the case of the same H/B. The drag reduction rate increased with H/B in the case of the same G/B. In the case where the circular cylinder had a small triangular prism, the stagnation regions were represented in the upstream and downstream sides of the circular cylinder.
