  • Objectives This study aims at using information about treatment satisfaction obtained from surveying pediatric traffic-accident patients to guide future improvement in the quality of traditional Korean medical services. Methods The survey included 95 pediatric patients treated for traffic-accident injuries at a traditional Korean medical institution. The questionnaire was developed from a similar satisfaction survey for adult traffic-accident patients and approved by a traditional Korean pediatrician. The year-long survey ran from April 2020 to April 2021. The collected data were analysed using t-tests, one-way analysis of variance, and cross-tabulation. Results Of the pediatric traffic-accident patients surveyed, the highest percentage of children were aged between 1 and 7 years (70.5%). Just over half the patients (55.8%) complained of sleeping difficulties, and 54.7% exhibited symptoms of anxiety and fear. Almost all the patients surveyed (97.9%) reported an improvement in their symptoms after undergoing traditional Korean medical treatment. The degree of satisfaction with the treatment correlated with the alleviation of symptoms. Approximately 83.2% of respondents reported 'difficult-to-administer treatment for children' and rated their satisfaction degree comparatively lower than those patients with no reported treatment difficulties. The most struggling treatment was herbal medicine (42.1%), highlighting the need for improvement in the adaptability of herbal medicine to the treatment of pediatric patients. Conclusions Treatment acceptance by pediatric traffic-accident patients affects reported treatment satisfaction. It is important to improve treatment experience and adaptability to pediatric patients to improve the perceived quality of traditional Korean medical services.

  • Background: Spinal pain is most common symptom in pain clinic. In most cases, before the treatment of spinal pain, physician explains the patient's disease and treatment. We investigated patient's satisfaction and physician's explanation related to treatments in spinal pain patients by questionnaires. Methods: Anonymous questionnaires about physician's explanation and patient's satisfaction in each treatment and post-treatment management were asked to individuals suffering from spinal pain. Patients who have spinal pain were participated in our survey of nationwide university hospitals in Korea. The relationships between patient's satisfaction and other factors were analyzed. Results: Between June 2016 and August 2016, 1007 patients in 37 university hospitals completed the questionnaire. In the statistical analysis, patient's satisfaction of treatment increased when pain severity was low or received sufficient preceding explanation about nerve block and medication (P < 0.01). Sufficient explanation increased patient's necessity of a post-treatment management and patients' performance rate of post-treatment management (P < 0.01). Conclusions: These results show that sufficient explanation increased patients' satisfaction after nerve block and medication. Sufficient explanation also increased the practice of patients' post-treatment management.

Methods: The study explained the purpose and purport of this study to orthodontic patients who visit dental clinics located in Daejeon and Chungcheong province for about two months from July 01, 2019, and conducted a self‐reported questionnaire survey for 220 participants who agreed to participate in this study. of the collected questionnaires, data of 197 subjects were used for the final analysis except 23 that were inadequate. Results: As for orthodontic treatment satisfaction according to perceived oral health and OHIP, there was statistically significant difference between respondents who were 'very healthy' and 'not healthy' (p<0.05). The higher the supplementary service satisfaction, the higher the orthodontic treatment satisfaction, and the higher the perceived oral health, the OHIP was found to be the higher. The factors affecting OHIP were found to be significantly associated with orthodontic treatment satisfaction and perceived oral health. The explanatory power was 15.6%. Conclusions: Active and ongoing oral health education should be provided to dental hygienists to ensure that the patient's oral cavity is healthy, and although additional services need to be improved, it is more important to have management strategies for patients to improve orthodontic treatment satisfaction.

  • Objectives: This study is to assess the correlation of the changes in dental health-related quality of life before, during, and after orthodontic treatments in the patients. Methods: The self-administered survey was conducted in the patients who completed orthodontic treatments living in Seoul and metropolitan areas using Oral Impact on Daily Performances (OIDP) to identify the relevant factors. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics of variables, independent t-test, one way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. Results: From observations of OIDP before, during, and after orthodontic treatment, discomfort associated with three factors including physical, psychological and social ones showed the statistically significant increases during orthodontic treatment than before the treatment; whereas, it was dramatically dropped afterward. Multiple regression analysis to find the influential factors of satisfaction level on orthodontic treatment by setting before, during, and after OIDP as independent variables and satisfaction on orthodontic treatment as a dependent variable revealed that OIDP before orthodontic treatment and after orthodontic treatment significantly affected satisfaction on orthodontic treatment. Conclusions: The above analysis on the change in patients' dental health-related quality of life showed that the quality of life improved after the orthodontic treatment. Accordingly, patients' quality of life and satisfaction level on orthodontic treatment are expected to improve if they strive to maintain healthy dental health through orthodontic treatment.
