군용 수송기 소요 산정 최적화 모형 (An Optimization Model for Determining the Number of Military Cargo-plane)

  • In contemporary global warfare, the significance and imperative of air transportation have been steadily growing. The Republic of Korea Air Force currently operates only light and medium-sized military cargo planes, but does not have a heavy one. The current air transportation capability is limited to meet various present and future air transport needs due to lack of performance such as payload, range, cruise speed and altitude. The problem of population cliffs and lack of airplane parking space must also be addressed. These problems can be solved through the introduction of heavy cargo planes. Until now, most studies on the need of heavy cargo plane and increasing air transport capability have focused on the necessity. Some of them suggested specific quantity and model but have not provided scientific evidence. In this study, the appropriate ratio of heavy cargo plane suitable for the Korea's national power was calculated using principal component analysis and cluster analysis. In addition, an optimization model was established to maximize air transport capability considering realistic constraints. Finally we analyze the results of optimization model and compare two alternatives for force structure.

Multi-objective optimization of submerged floating tunnel route considering structural safety and total travel time

  • The submerged floating tunnel (SFT) infrastructure has been regarded as an emerging technology that efficiently and safely connects land and islands. The SFT route problem is an essential part of the SFT planning and design phase, with significant impacts on the surrounding environment. This study aims to develop an optimization model considering transportation and structure factors. The SFT routing problem was optimized based on two objective functions, i.e., minimizing total travel time and cumulative strains, using NSGA-II. The proposed model was applied to the section from Mokpo to Jeju Island using road network and wave observation data. As a result of the proposed model, a Pareto optimum curve was obtained, showing a negative correlation between the total travel time and cumulative strain. Based on the inflection points on the Pareto optimum curve, four optimal SFT routes were selected and compared to identify the pros and cons. The travel time savings of the four selected alternatives were estimated to range from 9.9% to 10.5% compared to the non-implemented scenario. In terms of demand, there was a substantial shift in the number of travel and freight trips from airways to railways and roadways. Cumulative strain, calculated based on SFT distance, support structure, and wave energy, was found to be low when the route passed through small islands. The proposed model helps decision-making in the planning and design phases of SFT projects, ultimately contributing to the progress of a safe, efficient, and sustainable SFT infrastructure.

급유비용 차별하의 항공기 급유 최적화 모형 (Aircraft fueling optimization model under a fueling cost differentiation)

  • 항공교통시스템에서 핵심적 역할을 하는 항공사의 운영비 중 유류비용은 가장 큰부분을 차지한다. 따라서 많은 항공사들은 유류비 절감을 위한 많은 노력을 기울이고 있는 실정이다. 이 중 체계적인 항공기 급유계획 전략은 많은 비용절감 효과로 인하여 근래에 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 항공기 급유계획은 항공유의 급유비용이 각 운항공항 별로 상이할 때, 총 유류비를 최소화할 수 있도록 각 항공기의 운항공항에서 최적 급유량을 도출하는 계획이다. 본 연구에서는 항공기 급유계획에 관한 수리모형을 제시한다. 제시된 모형은 각 운항공항의 급유비용과 항공기 경로정보가 알려져 있을 때 각 운항공항에서 총비용을 최소로하는 정확한 급유량을 계산하는 최적화 모형이다. 실험결과, 제안된 모형은 직관적 형태의 발견적 기법보다 효과적인 비용절감이 이루어짐을 확인하였고, 향후 항공사를 비롯한 대형 운송시스템에서 유류관리 전략으로 중요한 역할을 할 것이라 기대된다.

  • 도로공사 토공사 작업현장에서 수행되는 운반계획의 주요 목적은 절토량과 성토량 간의 균형을 맞추는 것과 운반비용, 운반거리를 최소화 하는 것이다. 토공사의 합리적인 운반계획은 공사비 및 공사기간에 직접적인 영향을 미치나, 기존의 토공사 운반계획은 현장관리자의 경험적 지식을 기반으로 토공 운반계획을 수립하는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 도로공사 토공사 작업현장의 토공물량 운반계획의 효율성 향상을 위해 활용할 수 있는 최적화 모델 개발 하였으며, 사례구간을 통해 본 연구를 적용시킨 결과 공사기간은 약 19%, 공사비는 약 11% 감소시킨 것으로 확인되었다.

수송 네트워크에서 빈 장비 흐름의 계산법 (Calculating Empty Moves in Transportation Networks)

  • Empty moves are necessary when there are imbalances among transportation demands from source locations to destination locations and the transportation demands require empty equipment that must be supplied to source locations. When the amount of the inflow exceeds that of the outflow or the amount of the outflow exceeds that of the inflow, repositioning empty equipment is necessary. Examples of the empty equipment are containers, chassis, and pallets. This paper addresses how to estimate the empty moves on several typical transportation networks. Types of transportation networks considered are chain, tree, cycle, tree of cycles, and hybrid networks. Simple procedures are suggested for determining the optimal empty flows. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate procedures in this paper.
