Indium zinc tin oxide (IZTO) thin films were studied as a possible alternative to indium tin oxide (ITO) films for providing low-cost transparent conducting oxide (TCO) for thin film photovoltaic devices. IZTO films were deposited onto glass substrates at room temperature. A dc/rf magnetron co-sputtering system equipped with a ceramic target of the same composition was used to deposit TCO films. Earlier studies showed that the resistivity value of $In_{0.6}Zn_{0.2}Sn_{0.2}O_{1.5}$ (IZTO20) films could be lowered to approximately $6{\times}10^{-4}ohm{\cdot}cm$ without sacrificing optical transparency and still maintaining amorphous structure through the optimization of process variables. The growth rate was kept at about 8 nm/min while the oxygen-to-argon pressure ratio varied from 0% to 7.5%. As-deposited films were always amorphous and showed strong oxygen pressure dependence of electrical resistivity and electron concentration values. Influence of forming gas anneal (FGA) at medium temperatures was also studied and proven effective in improving electrical properties. In this study, the chemical composition of the targets and the films varied around the $In_{0.6}Zn_{0.2}Sn_{0.2}O_{1.5}$ (IZTO20). It was the main objective of this paper to investigate how off-stoichiometry affected TCO characteristics including electrical resistivity and optical transmission. In addition to the composition effect, we have also studied how film properties changed with processing variables. IZTO thin films have shown their potential as a possible alternative to ITO thin films, in such way that they could be adopted in some applications where currently ITO and IZO thin films are being used. Our experimental results are compared to those obtained for commercial ITO thin films from solar cell application view point.

Zinc oxide is a direct band gap wurtzite-type semiconductor with band gap energy of 3.37eV at room temperature. the n-type doped ZnO oxides, B doped ZnO (BZO) is widely studied in TCOs materials as it shows good electrical, optical, and luminescent properties. we focused on the fabrication of B doped ZnO films with glass substrate using the LSMCD at low temperature. And Novel boron-doped ZnO thin films were deposited and characterized from the structural, optical, electrical point of view. The structure, morphology, and optical properties of the films were studied as a function of by employing the XRD, SEM, Hall system and micro Raman system.
Optical properties of $TiO_2/M/Ag/M/TiO_2$ films have been changed with the diffusion barrier metal M. Optimum opticla properties of $TiO_2/M/Ag/M/TiO_2$ as the transparent heat mirror film, could be obtained with Ti among diffusion barrier metals of Ti, Cu, Zr and Al. $TiO_2/M/Ag/M/TiO_2$ film, which was fabricated by sputtering of 18 nm-thick $TiO_2$ and Ag, and 4nm-thick Ti, showed maximum transimittance of 89% at visible wavelength and infrared reflectance of 97% at wavelength of 3000 nm. Optical properties of this film was not degraded by Xenon-sunshine weather test for 240 hours. For specimens with barrier layers of Cu, Zr, and Al, degradation of optical properties by weather test was increased in a sequence of films with Cu, Zr, and Al barrier layers.
Recently semiconductor doped glasses have attracted attention as nonlinear optical materials because of their large third order nonlinear optical properties. The transparent and homogeneous CdS-doped SiO2 glass thin films were obtained by the dip=coating process of the sol-gel method. Thin films were consisted of glasses containing CdS microcrystallites which were formed by dissolved Cd2+ and S2- ions in a SiO2 matrix solutions. A subsequent thermal treatment of this samples led the formation of colloidal agglomerates and finally of microcrystallites. The size of CdS microcrystallites was about 4 to 15 nm after thermal treatments at various heating conditions. From the optical absorption spectra of the CdS-doped SiO2 glass films it was found that the absorption edge was blue-shifted compared with that of the bulk CdS crystal(~2, 4 eV) and that the amount of energy shift was inversely proportional to the crystal size. And the band gap energy increased with the decrease in crystallite size indicating that the quantum size effects occured.

In order to achieve a high efficient a-Si solar cell, the TCO (transparent conductive oxide) substrates are required to be a low sheet resistivity, a high transparency, and a textured surface with light trapping effect. Recently, a zinc oxide (ZnO) thin film attracts our attention as new coating material having a good transparent and conductive for TCO of solar cells. In this paper the optical properties of $H_2$ post-treated BZO (boron doped ZnO, ZnO:B) thin film are investigated with $O_2$-plasma treatment. The BZO thin films by MOCVD (Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) are investigated and the samples of $H_2$ post-treated BZO thin film are tested with $O_2$-plasma treatment by plasma treatment system with 13.56 MHz as RIE (Reactive Ion Etching) type. We measured the optical properties and surface morphology of BZO thin film with and without $O_2$-plasma treatment. The optical properties such as transmittance, reflectance and haze are measured with integrating sphere and ellipsometer. This result of the BZO thin film with and without $O_2$-plasma treatment is application to the TCO for solar cells.
A series of transparent polyimide (PI) nanocomposite films was synthesized from bicyclo(2,2,2)oct-7-ene-2,3,5,6-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA) and 1,3-bis(3-aminophenoxy)benzene (BAPB) with various organoclay contents via solution intercalation polymerization to poly(amic acid)s, followed by thermal imidization. Varying organoclay loading in a range of 0 to 1.5 wt% produced variations in the optical transparency, morphology, and oxygen barrier property of the hybrids. An optimum oxygen barrier property was observed for the hybrids containing 1.0 wt% Cloisite 30B; these properties were degraded gradually by further increases in the clay content. The PI hybrid films were found to exhibit excellent optical transparency and almost no color. However, the transparency of the hybrid films decreased slightly with increasing organoclay content. Transparent PI hybrid films containing 1.0 wt% Cloisite 30B were stretched equi-biaxially with various stretching ratios in a range of 100-140% to investigate their optical transparency and oxygen permeability in detail; the variations of clay dispersion and morphology were also determined as a function of equi-biaxial stretching ratio. PI hybrid films with ${\geq}120%$ stretching were found to contain homogeneously dispersed clay in the polymer matrix and exfoliated nanocomposites. The highest barrier to oxygen permeation was found at an equi-biaxial stretching ratio of 130%.
The heat treatment effects of the undoped ZnO and Al doped ZnO(AZO) transparent conductive films prepared by rf magnetron sputtering were investigated. The variations of the electrical and optical properties with heat treatment temperature and ambient were studied. The resistivity of the un doped ZnO films heat treated in air and $H_z$ plasma for 1 hour increased rapidly above $200^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$, respectively. And that of the ZnO:Al films heat treated in air also increased rapidly above $300^{\circ}C$. On the other hand that of the ZnO:Al films heat treated in $H_z$ plasma was constant regardless of heat treatment temperature. The optical transmittance above 550nm is about 90% for all thin films regardless of impurity doping, the heat treatment temperature and ambient.

Zinc oxide (ZnO) based transparent conducting oxides (TCO) thin films, are used in many applications such as solar cells, flat panel displays, and LEDs due to their wide bandgap nature and excellent electrical properties. In the present work, fluorine and aluminium-doped ZnO targets are prepared and thin films are deposited on soda-lime glass substrate using a RF magnetron sputtering unit. The aluminium concentration is fixed at 2 wt%, and the fluorine concentration is adjusted between 0 to 2.0 wt% with five different concentrations, namely, Al2ZnO98(AZO), F0.5AZO97.5(FAZO1), F1AZO97(FAZO2), F1.5AZO96.5(FAZO3), and F2AZO96(FAZO4). Thin films are deposited with an RF power of 40 W and working pressure of 5 m Torr at 270 ℃. The morphological analysis performed for the thin film reveals that surface roughness decreases in FAZO1 and FAZO2 samples when doped with a small amount of fluorine. Further, optical and electrical properties measured for FAZO1 sample show average optical transmissions of over 89 % in the visible region and 82.5 % in the infrared region, followed by low resistivity and sheet resistance of 3.59 × 10-4 Ωcm and 5.52 Ω/sq, respectively. In future, these thin films with excellent optoelectronic properties can be used for thin-film solar cell and other optoelectronics applications.
The structural, optical, and electrical properties of Ga-doped ZnO (GZO) thin films on glass substrates grown by radio-frequency(RF) magnetron sputtering were investigated. The flow ratio of Ar was varied as a deposition parameter for growing high-quality GZO thin films. The structural properties and surface morphologies of GZO were characterized by the X-ray diffraction. To analyze the optical properties of GZO, the optical absorbance was measured in the wavelength range of 300-1100 nm by using UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The optical transmittance, absorption coefficient, and optical bandgap energy of GZO thin films were calculated from the measured data. The crystallinity of GZO thin films is improved and the bandgap energy increases from 3.08 to 3.23eV with the increasing Ar flow ratio from 10 to 100 sccm. The average transmittance of the films is over 88% in the visible range. The lowest resistivity of the GZO is $6.215{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ and the hall mobility increases with the increasing Ar flow ratio. We can optimize the characteristics of GZO as a transparent electrode for thin film solar cells by controlling Ar flow ratio during deposition process.
TIO thin films were deposited on the poly-carbonate substrates with RF magnetron sputtering under different sputtering power condition to investigate the influence of deposition rate on the electrical and optical properties of the films. Although, all films have the similar carrier concentration, the films prepared at a lower deposition rate of 4 nm/min show a higher mobility of $5.96cm^2\;V^{-1}S^{-1}$ due to the low surface roughness. In addition, optical transmittance is also influenced by a deposition rate. Based on the figure of merit, it can be concluded that the lower deposition rate effectively enhances the opto-electrical performance of IGZO films for use as transparent conducting oxides in flexible display applications.
