  • In this work, a fishbone-type transmission line employing a comb-type ground plane (FTLCGP) was fabricated on polyethersulfone (PES) substrate, and its RF characteristics were thoroughly investigated. According to the results, it was found that the FTLCGP on PES showed periodic capacitance values much higher than other types of transmission lines due to a coupling capacitance between the signal line and ground, which resulted in a reduction of wavelength and line width. Using the theoretical analysis, we also extracted the bandwidth characteristic of the FTLCGP on PES. According to the result, the FTLCGP structure showed a cut-off frequency of 280 GHz.

  • This paper proposes a fault location algorithm for double-circuit transmission lines in the case of single line-to-ground fault. The proposed algorithm requires the voltage and current from the sending end of the transmission line. The fault distance is simply determined by solving a second order polynomial equation which is achieved directly by the analysis of the circuit. In order to testify the performance of the proposed algorithm, several other conventional approaches have been taken out to compare with it. The test results corroborate its superior effectiveness.

  • We propose portable equipment that monitors a current and potential on high-potential power transmission lines. In the equipment, a current and voltage sensor are attached to a hollow insulator that supports a power transmission line: A current on a power line is detected by an air-core solenoidal coil clamped to the line and the detected current signal is transmitted to the ground station by using optical data link, A potential on a power transmission line is detected by a high resistance element, zinc oxide (ZnO) that acts as a potential divider between the power line and the ground. The equipment does not require high potential insulators and magnetic cores which. This leads to the following advantages of the equipment: (a) It is easily installed owing to its small size and its simple structure; (b) It operates in low ...

  • This paper analyzes arc phenomena including the secondary arc's elongation in the Korean 765kV single transmission line (79km) between Sin-Ansung S/S and Sin-Gapyeong S/S, which will be installed in Korea in June 2006. In particular, both frequency independent and frequency dependent line models are compared to make our final decisions. As well, the significant simulation results are investigated by the EMTP program. As a result, there is no need of HSGS in the Korean 765kV single transmission line from both a practical and an economical point of view.

  • This paper describes the results of ground fault analysis on HVDC Transmission Line using TNA (Transient Network Analyzer). The maximum overvoltage is about 1.7 p.u. in the case of single line to ground fault on the overhead transmission line. When the cable is linked to the end of the overhead transmission line, the maximum overvoltage is about 1.58 p.u..

  • The introduction of a digiral subscriber loop transmission system necessitates an optimized line interface solution. To meet this objective an adaptive line equalizer has been developed. The equalizer can be compensated up to 42 dB line loss at 200KHz, and operated up to 3.2 Km transmission length (0.4 mm\ulcornercable)at a rate of 400Kb/s. This has been builted using a variable \ulcorner equalizer to compensate a frequency-attenuation characteristics of metallic cable, an AGC (automatic gain control) circuits with simple control algorithm, and various filters to minimize a transmission constraints over subscriber loop. The purpose of this paper is to present a short description of a design of the adaptive line equalizer with a summary of implementation results. Some design concepts and considerations which results in an implementation of the equalizer are also given.

  • Dislocation density and distribution in epitaxial GaAs layer on Si are evaluated quantitatively and effectively using image processing of transmission electron microscopy image. In order to evaluate dislocation density and distribution, three methods are introduced based on line-intercept, line-length measurement and our coding with line-scanning method. Our coding method based on line-scanning is used to detect the dislocations line-by-line effectively by sweeping a thin line with the width of one pixel. The proposed method has advances in the evaluation of dislocation density and distribution. Dislocations can be detected automatically and continuously by a sweeping line in the code. Variation of dislocation density in epitaxial GaAs films can be precisely analyzed along the growth direction on the film.

  • Recently Many technologies of the P.L.N (Power Line Network) are introduced for an efficient communication. P.L.N transmits information using power line channel. A medical information transmission system is proposed in this paper for the effective transmission. The Power Line Networks have an advantage in low cost because it uses existent power line. It can be easily applied anywhere that a power line socket is available. But the power line channel is very noisy, because many electronic devices in generate electronic noise in modulated signals. This problem should be considered carefully in the design of medical information transmission system using P.L.N. The proposed system can be applied...I propose a telemedicine system using the power line network.

  • This paper proposed the band pass filter(BPF) with feeding structure using $\pi$-type transmission line by means of transforming the input/output coupled-lines of the half wavelength parallel coupled-line BPF into K-inverter, then substituting $\pi$-type transmission line equivalence for K-inverter. The proposed method supplies solution with what the half wavelength parallel coupled-line BPF's input/output coupled-lines are realized. Also it can quite reduce efforts and time needed to optimize filter performance when is compared to reported method using tapped line structure because formulas is very simple and accurate. On the basic of the proposed method, the BPF with feeding structure using $\pi$-type transmission line has been designed and fabricated. The validity of proposed method was proven by the measured result.

  • In this paper, we introduce the advanced compact transmission line with periodic stepped stubs. They are more effective than normal stubs in ATL. The short stepped stubs loading of transmission line work as effective shunt capacitance and that was proved by equivalent circuit based on transmission line theory and quasi-static analysis. And the compact branch-line coupler and the compact rat-race coupler via proposed compact microstrip line were designed at 1.8 ㎓. They have 677 ㎟ and 913 ㎟, respectively, and they are 62% and 45% of normal design.
