Development of Korean-to-English and English-to-Korean Mobile Translator for Smartphone (스마트폰용 영한, 한영 모바일 번역기 개발)

  • In this paper we present light weighted English-to-Korean and Korean-to-English mobile translators on smart phones. For natural translation and higher translation quality, translation engines are hybridized with Translation Memory (TM) and Rule-based translation engine. In order to maximize the usability of the system, we combined an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engine and Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine as a Front-End and Back-end of the mobile translators. With the BLEU and NIST evaluation metrics, the experimental results show our E-K and K-E mobile translation equality reach 72.4% and 77.7% of Google translators, respectively. This shows the quality of our mobile translators almost reaches the that of server-based machine translation to show its commercial usefulness.

  • This paper presents and analyzes field test results of distributed translator (DTxR) for distributed frequency network (DFN) in the ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) terrestrial digital TV broadcasting system. In the field test, according to types of antennas and receivers in areas where are overlapped by two DTxRs' coverage, we measured reception power, noise margin reception possibility, and ease of reception at each test point. By the field test results, when two DTxRs are on, reception power and noise margin are increased than when one DTxR is on. However, reception rate and ease of reception are similar or increased according to types of receivers.

  • In this paper, we analyzed and analyzed the entry path and the capacity of translation competent personnel who participated in the translation project for the last 5 years. For this purpose, the entry path of the translation workforce is classified as 'employee', 'research course', 'vt', and 'external expert'. And the number of manpower and the amount of translated manuscripts were examined by year. In addition, the average amount of manpower for one translator was also examined. As a result of the research and analysis, the proportion of the total translation companies in the translation business was in the order of external experts - from the research course - from the qualification examination - from the staff. The proportion of manuscripts is in the order of from the research course - external expert - from the qualification examination - from the staff. In addition, we surveyed and analyzed the present status of each of the translators and discussed the characteristics and problems of each business sector. In the translation of historical documents, the proportion of manpower is the largest in the research process, but the proportion of manuscripts is the highest in the qualification test, and that of the experts in the translation and special classics is significant. In addition, it was judged that translation work of translator was proceeding inefficiently by analyzing average manpower quantity of translation worker. In order to solve these problems, three plans were proposed: 'Need to plan the use of translation personnel based on business plan', 'Improvement of qualification examination for cross-country and translation committee members', 'Training of translation experts in specialized fields and expansion of entry routes'. Each of these measures must be validated and validated through detailed analysis and research. However, it is hoped that the translator will help the translation project by establishing a more systematic and planned business plan and a plan to utilize the translation workforce.

  • In this work, an automatic software verification method for Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) protection system is developed. This method utilizes Colored Petri Net (CPN) for system modeling and Prototype Verification System (PVS) for mathematical verification. In order to help flow-through from modeling by CPN to mathematical proof by PVS, an information extractor from CPN models has been developed in this work. In order to convert the extracted information to the PVS specification language, a translator also has been developed. ML that is a higher-order functional language programs the information extractor and translator. This combined method has been applied to a protection system function of Wolsong NPP SDS2(Steam Generator Low Level Trip). As a result of this application, we could prove completeness and consistency of the requirement logically. Through this work, in short, an axiom or lemma based-analysis method for CPN models is newly suggested in order to complement CPN analysis methods and a guideline for the use of formal methods is proposed in order to apply them to NPP Software Verification and Validation.

  • The virtual machine is a programming environment that supports device and platform independence. So far, virtual machines such as JVM and KVM have been used in a variety of environments for the Java language. Some virtual machines similar to them are also being developed and used. This paper Presents the experiences of extracting elements essential for small sized devices such as PDA from Java Class files(*.class) and designing a converted class file(*.rclass) for runtime efficiency by modifying its class file format and developing its translator. In addition, a virtual machine is developed to receive the translated class file entered and output the runtime results.

C2JNI: An Embedded C to JNI Translator (C2JNI: 내장 C 언어에서 JNI 코드를 생성하는 변환기)

  • Java, a platform independent object-oriented programming language, is widely used, however it should be integrated with JNI to use system services or to reuse legacy systems. Though JNI provides the standard APIs which allow Java to be combined with C/$C^{++}$, it is very hard and cumbersome for developers to use JNI APIs. In order to address this problem, we introduce a translator named C2JNI, which converts the embedded C program into a JNI compatible C program. With C2JNI, developers can Integrate Java and C programs without JNI APIs, and it will reduce the complexity caused by JNI APIs.

  • In the previous work, we presented HDTS for locating logical errors in Java programs. The HDTS locates an erroneous method at an execution tree using an algorithmic program debugging technique and locates a statement with errors in the erroneous method using a step-wise program debugging. The technique can remove the unnecessary statements and nodes in debugging using a program slicing technique at the execution tree. So HDTS reduces the number of program debugging. In this paper, we design HDTS system for debugging java programs. We define small subset of Java language and design the translator that translates java source codes and the virtual machine that runs java programs. We design GUI(Graphical User Interface) for debugging.

An Implementation of a System for Video Translation on Window Platform Using OCR (윈도우 기반의 광학문자인식을 이용한 영상 번역 시스템 구현)

  • As the machine learning research has developed, the field of translation and image analysis such as optical character recognition has made great progress. However, video translation that combines these two is slower than previous developments. In this paper, we develop an image translator that combines existing OCR technology and translation technology and verify its effectiveness. Before developing, we presented what functions are needed to implement this system and how to implement them, and then tested their performance. With the application program developed through this paper, users can access translation more conveniently, and also can contribute to ensuring the convenience provided in any environment.

  • The various researches are investigated for translating Bytecode into native code which can be implemented in the specific processor using classical compiling methods to improve the execution speed of the Java application programs. The code generation techniques using pattern matching can generate more high-quality machine code than code expansion techniques. We provide, in this research, the standardized pattern describing methods and pattern matching techniques that can be used to generate the register-based intermediate code which is for the effective native code generation from Bytecode. And we designed and realized the intermediate code translator with which we can generate the high-quality register-based intermediate code using standardized pattern described formerly.
