Wake-induced boundary-layer transition on a NACA0012 airfoil with zero angle of attack is experimentally investigated in periodically passing wakes under the moderate level of free-stream turbulence. The periodic wakes are generated by rotating circular cylinders clockwise or counterclockwise around the airfoil. The free-stream turbulence is produced by a grid upstream of the rotating cylinder, and its intensities $(Tu_{\infty})$ at the leading edge of the airfoil are 0.5 and 3.5%, respectively. The Reynolds number (Rec) based on chord length (C) of the airfoil is $2.0{\times}10^5$, and Strouhal number (Stc) of the passing wake is about 1.4. Time- and phase-averaged streamwise mean velocities and turbulence fluctuations are measured with a single hot-wire probe, and especially, the corresponding wall skin friction is evaluated using a computational Preston tube method. The patch under the high free-stream turbulence $(Tu_{\infty}=3.5%)$ grows more greatly in laminar-like regions compared with that under the low turbulence $(Tu_{\infty}=0.5%)$ in laminar regions. The former, however, does not greatly change the turbulence level in very near-wall region while the latter does it. At further downstream, the former interacts vigorously with high environmental turbulence inside the pre-existing transitional boundary layer and gradually loses its identification, whereas the latter keeps growing in the laminar boundary layer. The calmed region is more clearly observed under the lower free-stream turbulence level and with the receding wakes.
In the present paper, transition turbulence model is applied to the NACA64(3)618 and detailed flow features are studied. The turbulence model is sensitive to the boundary layer grid quality and y+ of the grid was limited to 1. The prediction of the transition region is dependent on the local flow condition. The pressure coefficient distribution of the transition turbulence model is compared with that of the fully turbulent mode and the drag distribution of the transition turbulence model was compared with that of the wind tunnel test.
In recent years, due to the demand for operating efficiency and cost reduction of industrial facilities, remote access via the Internet is expanding. the control network accelerates from network separation to network connection due to the development of IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) technology. Transition of control network is a new opportunity, but concerns about cybersecurity are also growing. Therefore, manufacturers must reflect security compliance and standards in consideration of the Internet connection environment, and enterprises must newly recognize the connection area of the control network as a security management target. In this study, the core target of the control system security threat is defined as the network boundary, and issues regarding the security architecture configuration for the boundary and the role & responsibility of the working organization are covered. Enterprises do not integrate the design organization with the operation organization after go-live, and are not consistently reflecting security considerations from design to operation. At this point, the expansion of the control network is a big transition that calls for the establishment of a responsible organization and reinforcement of the role of the network boundary area where there is a concern about lack of management. Thus, through the organization of the facility network and the analysis of the roles between each organization, an static perspective and difference in perception were derived. In addition, standards and guidelines required for reinforcing network boundary security were studied to address essential operational standards that required the Internet connection of the control network. This study will help establish a network boundary management system that should be considered at the enterprise level in the future.

The phase field model is becoming the model of choice for the theoretical study of the morphologies of crystals growth from the melt. This model provides an alternative approach to the solution of the classical (sharp interface) model of solidification by introducing a new variable, the phase field, Ø, to identify the phase. The variable Ø takes on constant values in the bulk phases and makes a continuous transition between these values over a thin transition layer that plays the role of the classically sharp interface. This results in Ø being governed by a new partial differential equation(in addition to the PDE's that govern the classical fields, such as temperature and composition) that guarantees (in the asymptotic limit of a suitably thin transition layer) that the appropriate boundary conditions at the crystal-melt interface are satisfied. Thus, one can proceed to solve coupled PDE's without the necessity of explicitly tracking the interface (free boundary) that would be necessary to solve the classical (sharp interface) model. Recent advances in supercomputing and algorithms now enable generation of interesting and valuable results that display most of the fundamental solidification phenomena and processes that are observed experimentally. These include morphological instability, solute trapping, cellular growth, dendritic growth (with anisotropic sidebranching, tip splitting, and coupling to periodic forcing), coarsening, recalescence, eutectic growth, faceting, and texture development. This talk will focus on the fundamental basis of the phase field model in terms of irreversible thermodynamics as well as it computational limitations and prognosis for future improvement. A new GPS receiver correlator for the deeply-coupled GPS/INS integration system is proposed in order to the computation time problem of the Kalman filter. The proposed correlator consists of two early, prompt and late arm pairs. One pair is for detecting data bit transition boundary and another is for the correlator value calculation between input and replica signal. By detecting the data bit transition boundary, the measurement calculation time can be made longer than data bit period. As a result of this, the computational time problem of the integrated Kalman filter can be resolved. The validity of the proposed method is given through computer simulations.
In this paper, initial depositing process of electroless Ni-Cu-P alloy was investigated by means of SEM, TEM and AES. The results show that the initial deposition is inhomogeneous and there exist different transition layers between different coatings and substrates, which are decided by the structures and compositions of the bath. For Ni-P binary alloy, its deposition takes place superiorly at grain boundary and on some grains with beneficial texture, the thickness of transition layer composed of Ni-Fe-P reaches 2000 angstrom. But during initiation of Ni-Cu-P trinary alloy, only at grain boundary is prIor to be deposited electrolessly, transited layer contains Ni-Fe-Cu-P and is decreased to about 500 angstrom. The structures of the films of Ni-P and Ni-Cu-P are crystalline at the initial depositing stage. The mechanisms of the process are put forward in this paper.

A numerical analysis is carried out for the marine propellers in open water conditions to investigate the effect of the wall treatments in model and full scale. The standard wall function to apply the low of the wall and the two layer zonal model to calculate the whole boundary layer for a transition phenomenon are used with one turbulence model. To determine an appropriate distance of the first grid point from the wall when using the wall function, a formula based on Reynolds number is suggested, which can estimate the maximum y+ satisfying the logarithmic law. In the model scale, it is confirmed that a transition calculation is required for a model scale propeller with low Reynolds number that the transient region appears widely. While in the full scale, the wall function calculation is recommended for efficient calculations due to the turbulence dominant flow for large Reynolds number.
In this paper, we present a detailed mechanism of drag reduction by dimples and roughness on a sphere by measuring the streamwise velocity above the dimpled and roughened surfaces, respectively. Dimples cause local flow separation and trigger the shear layer instability along the separating shear layer, resulting in generation of large turbulence intensity. With this increased turbulence, the flow reattaches to the sphere surface with high momentum near the wall and overcomes strong adverse pressure gradient formed in the rear sphere surface. As a result, dimples delay main separation and reduce drag significantly. The present study suggests that generation of a separation bubble, i.e. a closed-loop streamline consisting of separation and reattachment, on a body surface is an important flow-control strategy for drag reduction on a bluff body such as the sphere and cylinder. In the case of roughened sphere, the boundary layer flow is directly triggered by roughness and changes to a turbulent flow. Due to this change, the drag significantly decreases. As the Reynolds number further increases, transition to turbulence occurs earlier on the sphere surface. Because of faster growth of turbulent boundary layer by roughness, earlier transition thickens the boundary layer, resulting in earlier separation and drag increase with increasing Reynolds number
