  • Real-time target signal processing techniques for FMCW LiDAR are described in this paper. FMCW LiDAR is gaining attention as the next-generation LiDAR for self-driving cars because of its detection robustness even in adverse environmental conditions such as rain, snow and fog etc. in addition to its long range measurement capability. The hardware architecture which is required for high-speed data acquisition, data transfer, and parallel signal processing for frequency-domain signal processing is described in this article. Fourier transformation of the acquired time-domain signal is implemented on FPGA in real time. The paper also details the C-FAR algorithm for ensuring robust target detection from the transformed target spectrum. This paper elaborates on enhancing frequency measurement resolution from the target spectrum and converting them into range and velocity data. The 3D image was generated and displayed using the 2D scanner position and target distance data. Real-time target signal processing and high-resolution image acquisition capability of FMCW LiDAR by using the proposed parallel signal processing algorithms based on FPGA architecture are verified in this paper.

  • The purpose of this paper is to review Post-Fordist urban economic theories that have tackled the recent changes of urban economies in large cities in the world since 1980s, so that we can conceptualise the changes of urban economies in Korean cities. In the perspective of the Post-Fordist urban economic theories, the recent changes of urban economies in the world are deeply related to the transformation of capitalist world economic system from Fordism to Post-Fordism. To see these changes which can be called as the new urbanization process in the economic aspect, we will focus especially such theories as new industrial space (district) theory based on the flexible specialization paradigm, informational city theory based on the information and communication mode paradigm, and cluster and regional innovation theory based on the institution and network paradigm. Also we will consider the social polarization process and dual city phenomena that have been observed for the most part of big cities in the world.

  • Detailed knowledge on maskelynite, a glassy phase of plagioclase found in shocked meteorites and impact craters, is essential to understand a shock metamorphism. Here, we explore an inhomogeneous shock metamorphism in the lunar meteorite Mount DeWitt (DEW) 12007 with an aim to understand the formation mechanism of maskelynite. Most plagioclase grains in the DEW 12007 partially amorphized into maskelynite with a unidirectional orientation. Back-scattered electron (BSE) images of maskelynite show a remnant of planar deformation fracture possibly indicating that the maskelynite would be formed by solid-state transformation(i.e., diaplectic glass). Plagioclase with flow texture is also observed along the rim of maskelynite, which would be a result of recrystallization of melted plagioclase. Results of Raman experiments suggest that shock pressure for plagioclase and maskelynite in the DEW 12007 is approximately 5-32 GPa and 26-45 GPa, respectively. The difference in shock pressures between plagioclase and maskelynite can be originated from 1) external factors such as inhomogeneous shock pressure and/or 2) internal factors such as chemical composition and porosity of rock. Unfortunately, Raman spectroscopy has a limitation in revealing the detailed atomic structure of maskelynite such as development of six- or five-coordinated aluminum atom upon various shock pressure. Further studies using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy are necessary to understand the formation mechanism of maskelynite under high pressure.

  • The inky cap, Coprinellus congregatus, produces several laccase isozymes during its life cycle: both hyphal tip laccase and sclerotial laccase are involved in the fungal development. When this fungus was transferred to an acid liquid medium (pH 4.0-4.5), a new laccase was synthesized and secreted into the culture supernatant. In order to examine its regulation by external pH, green fluorescent protein gene was ligated at the downstream of the promoters having different lengths. These expression vectors having different promoter lengths were inserted into the fungal transformation vector, pBARGEM7-1. These expression vectors were introduced to the mating type a1 and a2 monokaryons, and the transformants were selected by the phosphinothricin resistance. Transformant a1 (a1TF) and transformant a2 (a2TF) were mated with each other to generate homozygotic dikaryon transformants. All these transformants were grown in neutral liquid medium for 5 days, and then the whole cell homogenates were transferred to the acidic liquid medium (pH 4.1). After 36 h incubation at $25^{\circ}C$, cells were harvested for the analysis of GFP expression. GFP expression was detected in the transformant having full-length promoter (2.0 kb), but other transformants having shorter length promoter (shorter than 1.29 kb) failed to show the fluorescence. Therefore, the acid-responsive element in the laccase promoter should be localized between -2.0 kb ~ -1.29 kb region.

  • Greenhouse gas(GHG) inventories and basic strategies for Jeonbuk regional government were established to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The method to construct GHG inventories of Jeonbuk followed the 'Revised IPCC 1996 Guidelines'which was used for the 'Third National Communication of the Republic of Korea under UNFCCC'. Korean government could use primary energy consumption for the energy industries section in the national GHG inventories. However, regional governments should use secondary energy consumption (included electricity consumption) for the energy industries section for their GHG inventories because they could not control the emission of energy transformation section. In the result of Jeonbuk GHG inventories in 2006, carbon dioxide($CO_2$) emissions from fuel combustion covered 87.1% of total emissions. Methane($CH_4$), carbon dioxide($CO_2$) from other sections, nitrous oxide($N_2O$) and F-gas(HFCs, PFCs, $SF_6$) accounted for 8.1, 2.2, 1.6 and 1.0% of total emissions, respectively. The sectional emission decreased in the order of the energy(88.0%), agriculture(7.6%), waste(2.3%) and industrial processes(2.1%) section. The energy industries section that contained electricity consumption was the most dominant emission source in the energy section. F-gas consumption, rice cultivation and waste incineration were main emission sources in the industrial processes, agriculture and waste section, respectively. In this study, basic directions of each section were established by the results of Jeonbuk GHG inventories in 2006.

  • Historical dramas are changing in response to the public who wants more dramatic development, and historical costumes are also expressed in a modern sense. The purpose of this study is to examine the modernization of historical costumes in historical dramas and how the modernization of historical costumes in historical dramas is fostered from the learner's point of view with suggesting implications. As a result of this study, first, the essential problem with the modernization of historical costumes was the excessive modern transformation that undermines historical facts in historical dramas. Second, the negative perceptions of the modernization of historical costumes in historical dramas included the loss of the unique Korean identity, decreased immersion in drama, and the educational influence of media. Positive perceptions focused on the increased interest through raising awareness of traditional culture, compromises on changes in the times, and increased visual play of the public. Third, the implications of the modernization of historical costumes in historical dramas require the awareness improvement of participants in historical drama and a thorough preliminary investigation by the costume designer on the historical costume, an in-depth study of traditional costumes, a systematic educational approach, viewers' attention, and government effort.

  • It can be said that digital technology is at the center of the change in the modern work environment. In particular, in general public institutions that prove their work with records produced by business management systems and document production systems, the record management system is also the work environment itself. Gimpo City applied for the 2021 public cloud leading project of the National Information Society Agency (NIA) to proactively respond to the 4th industrial revolution technology era and implemented a public cloud-based AI-OCR technology enhancement project with 330 million won in support of 330 million won. Through this, it was converted into data beyond the limitations of non-electronic records limited to search and image viewing that depend on standardized index values. In addition, a 98% recognition rate was realized by applying a new technology called AI-OCR. Since digital technology has been used to improve work efficiency, productivity, development cost, and record management service levels of internal and external users, we would like to share the direction of enhancing expertise in the record management and implementation of work environment innovation.

  • Microspores were isolated from pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) anthers by using a micro-blender and cultured in modified NLN medium at $25^{\circ}C$. The influence of pretreatment period at $32^{\circ}C$, adding the 2-hydroxynicotinic acid to a pretreatment medium, and co-pretreatment anthers with microscopes on the induction of embryo were examined. Globular and torpedo embryos were observed from 3 weeks after culture. Embryo development was not synchronized within culture. After 4 weeks in culture, in addition to globular and torpedo embryos, cotyledonary embryos were observed. Normal cotylodonary embryos developed into plantlets when transferred to a solid hormone free B5 medium containing $2\%$ sucrose. Embryo yields were significantly higher after 1- and 2-day pretreatment at $32^{\circ}C$. However the development of embryo ceased at the globular or heart stage. In contrast, embryo yields were lower after 3- to 6-day pretreatment at $32^{\circ}C$ and embryo developed at the cotyledonary stage. After adding the 2-hydroxynicotinic acid to anther pretreatment solution, embryo yields were slightly increased. However most embryos occurred were at the globular or heart stage. Co-pretreatment of microspores with anthers was deleterious for embryo induction and development. AS far as we know, this is the first report of success in obtaining high frequency of embryogenesis and plantlets formation from isolated microspores of pepper. Although the culture conditions have to be optimized further, this promising microspore culture system can be used for genetic transformation, selection for dominant and recessive traits as well as for the production of homozygous doubled haploid plants.

  • In order to cope with the rapidly changing product development environment, individual manufacturing enterprises are forced to collaborate with each other through establishing a virtual organization. In collaboration, designated organizations work together for mutual gain based on product data interoperability. However, product data interoperability is not fully facilitated due to semantic inconsistency among product data models of individual enterprises. In order to overcome the semantic inconsistency problem, this paper proposes a reference ontology, Reference Domain Ontology(RDO), and a methodology for product data interoperability with semantic consistency using RDO. RDO describes semantics of product data model and metamodel for all application domains in a virtual organization. Using RDO, application domains in a virtual organization can easily understand the product data models of others. RDO is agile and temporal such that it is created with the formation of a virtual organization, copes with changes of the organization, and disappears with the vanishment of the organization. RDO is built by a hybrid approach of top-down using a upper ontology and bottom-up based on the merging of ontologies of application domains in a virtual organization. With this methodology, every domain in a virtual organization can achieve product data model interoperability without model transformation.
