QoS Functions in Mobile Backhaul Network (이동 백홀 네트워크에서 QoS 기능)

  • This paper addresses QoS functions in mobile backhaul network to accommodate the diverse traffics in cell site. The traffics assigned to the switching function in RAN system, such as Ethernet frame, IP packet, and ATM cell, are segmented, and then encapsulated to transfer then to the mobile backhaul network. ISP can converge all generation traffics, such as voice, HSPA, over all-IP RAN through standard pseudowire encapsulation. These can be enhanced with diverse QoS methods as well as comprehensive monitoring and diagnostic capabilities. Therefore in this paper, QoS functions under theses operations is simulated according to the encapsulation functions.

A Study on an Adaptive UPC Algorithm Based on Traffic Multiplexing Information in ATM Networks (ATM 망에서 트래픽 다중화 정보에 의한 적응적 UPC 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a new neural Buffered Leaky Bucket algorithm for preventing the degradation of network performance caused by congestion and dealing with the traffic congestion in ATM networks. We networks. We justify the validity of the suggested method through performance comparison in aspects of cell loss rate and mean transfer delay under a variety of traffic conditions requiring the different QoS(Quality of Service). also, the cell scheduling algorithms such as DWRR and DWEDF used for multiplexing the incoming traffics are induced to get the delay time of the traffics fairly. The network congestion information from cell scheduler is used to control the predicted traffic loss rate of Neural Leaky Bucket, and token generation rate is changed by the predicted values. The prediction of traffic loss rate by neural networks can effectively reduce the cell loss rate and the cell transfer delay of next incoming cells and be applied to other traffic control systems. Computer simulation results performed for traffic prediction show that QoSs of the various kinds of traffics are increased.

  • In this paper we consider the performance of TCP video traffic over ABR with Long-Range Dependent VBR traffic. As compressed coded video traffics are increasing rapidly over Internet, lots of studies are being done for transmitting those traffics efficiently using limited network resources. We consider here the transmitting video service over ABR service in ATM networks, especially satellite networks. CBR or VBR services are suggested in transmitting the video traffic in ATM Forum TM 4.0. But ABR service connection, which is considered as appropriate service for data traffic, can be established with a small amount of bandwidth, MCR (Minimum cell rate). Furthermore ABR service can control the source's transmitting rate using feedback mechanism. Using this feature ABR service can be used in some applications which can control their quality of services corresponding to network loads. Compressed video sources with MPEG-2 are used for Long-Range Dependent VBR traffic here. We model the compressed video source to resemble the MPEG-2 transport streams. These compressed video traffic streams are consisted of three different frames, I-frame, P-frame, and B-frame. So when a network are overloaded, we can control the quality of service using this traffic features. TCP Traffics over ABR need large buffers in ATM switch to satisfy their QoS with background VBR traffics, which have high deviations in bandwidth. Furthermore satellite ATM networks with large feedback delay need large buffers corresponding RTT delay. The performance comparisons among EFCI and ER switch (ERICA+) switches in the network circumstances described above were shown in this paper. We also considered the case with ON-OFF VBR traffics.

  • QoS 라우팅은 네트워크 활용률 및 사용자의 서비스 수준을 향상시키는 효과가 있으나 계산 및 프로토콜 오버헤드와 같은 추가 비용으로 인해 실제 IP 네트워크에서 널리 구현되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 최근 이러한 QoS 라우팅의 오버헤드를 감소시키기 위해 서버를 기반으로 하는 QoS 라우팅 방안들이 제시된 바 있다. 그러나 이들 대부분은 QoS 트래픽의 성능 향상에만 초점을 맞추어 우선 순위가 보다 낮은 처선(Best effort) 트래픽에 대한 영향은 전혀 고려하지 않았다. 두 트래픽은 서로 다근 우선 순위에 따라 라우팅되는데 네트워크 자원을 공유하는 환경에서 효율적인 최선 트래픽 라우팅을 지원하지 못하는 경우에는 네트워크 자원 고갈 및 성능 저하의 문제를 초래한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 서버를 기반으로 하는 QoS 라우팅 성능에는 전혀 영향을 주지 않으면서 우선 순위가 낮은 최선 트래픽의 성능 또한 향상시킬 수 있는 새로운 라우팅 메커니즘을 제안하고, 시뮬레이션을 통해 그 성능을 평가하였다.

  • The nodes of Ad-hoc network are made up of location registration for sending information and a great number of packet transmissions to maintain routing route among the nodes. under this environment, a huge number of traffics would be generated as mobility variable occurs more than in physical network. Hence, in this paper, focused on to study the relationship of nodes to analyze the extend of the traffic in order to control the traffics of the multi-hop in Ad-hoc.

  • In this thesis, a buffer alloction and management algorithm is proposed in order to satisfy the QoS of CBR/VBR traffics incomming to ATM networks. Proposed traffic menagement algorithm is based on the route seperation mechanism that allocates buffers acoording to traffic characterics, and sets threshold to allocated buffers. We developed a cell scheduling algorithm and evaluated cell delay and loss probability characteristics according to incomming traffic classes. The cell scheduling algorithm uses buffer size thresholds to control overload traffic flow.

  • An explosive expansion of the use of smart devices such as smart phones and tablet PCs in mobile telecommunications service is bringing about a steep increase of mobile traffic volumes. Mobile network operators or telcos are introducing the $4^{th}$ generation LTE network, which handles traffics more efficiently, to respond such enormously increasing traffics. Meanwhile, it is wondered how LTE contributes to raising a competitive edge of telcos. This paper aims at empirically testing whether the first mover of LTE acquired its competitive advantages. In this paper, we analyzed a number of telcos of 10 major countries. As a result, it turned out that there is no first mover's advantages, that is, the first mover did not have any competitive advantages in market share, profitability, and so on.

  • In the design of telecommunication network, the network configuration using hubbing topology is useful for designing and managing the network efficiently : i. e. all of central offices (COs) are grouped into clusters. Each cluster has one hub consisting of large-scale transmission facilities like digital cross-connect systems and ATMs. In clustering process, the community of interest and geographical factor should be considered. However, there exists a tradeoff between two factors. One is to minimize total link costs for geographical factor and the other is to maximize the total intra-cluster traffics for community of interest. Hence, this can be solved by multiobjective linear programming techniques. In this paper, the problem under considerations is formulated as two p-median subproblems taking into considerations total costs and total intra-traffics, respectively. Then we propose the algorithm to solve the problem based on the concept of cost-traffic tradeoff. The algorithm enables to identify efficient cost-traffic tradeoff pairs. An illustration is also presented.

  • In this paper, we analyze a leaky bucket (LB) scheme with queue length dependent arrival rates. In other words, if the queue length exceeds an appropriate threshold value on buffer, the arrivals need to be controlled. In ATM networks, if the congestion occurs, the input traffics must be controlled (reduced) for congestion resolution. By the bursty and correlated properties of traffics, the arrivals are assumed to follow a Markov-modulated Poisson process (MMPP). We derive the loss probability and the waiting time distribution for arbitrary cell. The analysis is done by using the embedded Markov chain and supplementary variable method. We also present some numerical examples to show the effects of our proposed LB scheme.

  • In order to control the flow of traffics in ATM networks and optimize the usage of network resources, an efficient control mechanism is necessary to cope with congestion and prevent the degradation of network performance caused by congestion. This paper proposes a new UPC(Usage Parameter Control) mechanism that varies the token generation rate and the buffer threshold of leaky bucket by using a Neural Network controller observing input buffers and token pools, thus achieving the improvement of performance. Simulation results show that the proposed adaptive algorithm uses of network resources efficiently and satisfies QoS for the various kinds of traffics.
