  • 본 논문에서는 고주파 변압기 대신 무선 전력 전송 시스템을 적용해 양방향 전력 전송을 가능케 해주는 loosely coupled dual-active-bridge 컨버터에서, 코일 간 전송 효율을 높이기 위한 코일 형상 설계에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 유한 요소법을 통해 여러 형태의 페라이트 코어에 대해 해석했다. 페라이트 코어 형태가 I-자 일 때 가장 높은 quality factor의 코일을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한, I-core의 ferrite plate의 크기에 따라 무선 전력 전송의 효율을 결정하는 코일의 coupling coefficient와 코일의 quality factor가 변하고 trade-off 관계가 있음을 확인하였다. 3cm의 air-gap에 대해 최대 효율을 가지는 코일 형상을 설계하여 시뮬레이션을 통해 97.8%의 코일간 전송효율을 얻었다.

  • In this paper, a low-noise amplifier is designed and fabricated using the HJFET for the reception of the Ku-band satellite broadcast signals. The optimum input and output reflection coefficients of each amplifier stage are obtained by the trade-off between the stable gain and the noise figure circle. The amplifier performance is simulated and optimized using a microwave CAD software. The designed amplifier is fabricated and tested. Results of the test show a gain of 17.0 dB, a gain flatness of less than $\pm$2.BdB, the noise figure of less than 1.0 dB, and the input and output reflection coefficient of less than -10 dB.

  • A dynamic design process was proposed for the design of the secondary suspension characteristics of a magnetically levitated vehicle(MAGLEV). It is based on a ride quality-secondary stroke trade-off. For the vertical vibration analysis, a magnetically levitated vehicle was simplified as 2 d.o.f. linear model, and FRA's class-6-track irregularities were considered as exciting disturbances. The optimum value of airspring stiffness and damping coefficient for the secondary suspension of a prototype MAGLEV was determined using this proposed design process.

A Study on the Characteristics of Intake Port Flow and Performance with Swirl Ratio Variance in a Turbocharged D.I. Diesel Engine (과급 디젤엔진에서 선회비 변경에 따른 흡기 포트유동 및 엔진성능 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The characteristics of intake port flow and engine performance with swirl ratio variance in a turbocharged D.I. diesel engine were studied in this paper. The intake port flow is important factor which have influence on the engine performance and exhaust emission because the properties in the injected fuel depend on the combustion characteristics. Through these experiments it can be expected to satisfy performance and emission by optimizing the main parameters; the swirl ratio of intake port, injection timing and compression ratio. The swirl ratio for ports was modified by hand-working and measured by impulse swirl meter. For the effects on performance and emission, the brake torque and brake specific fuel consumption were measured by engine dynamometer, NOx and smoke were measured by gas analyzer and smoke meter. The results of steady flow test are as follows; as the valve eccentricity ratio are closed to cylinder wall, the flow coefficient and swirl intensity are increased. Also we realized that there is a trade-off that the increase of swirl ratio decreases mean flow coefficient and increases the Gulf factor. And the optimum parameters to meet performance and emission through engine test are as follows; the swirl ratio 2.43, injection timing BTDC 13oCA and compression ratio 15.5.

  • This Paper Propose a method to reduce the calculation time in JPEG2000. That is, if a coefficient is estimate a upper-level subband and its descendents skip the scan process. There is a trade-off relationship between the calculation time and the image quality or the amount of output data, the calculation time and the amount of output data decreases, but the image degradation increases. The experimental results showed that in calculation time was 35% in average, which means that ls ge ses. The ein calculation time and output data can be obtls ed with a cost of an acceptlble image quality degradation.

  • Design of experiments based on Taguchi's orthogonal array is utilized for exploring the design space and for building response surface models of insulator and isolator database in order to facilitate the effective solution of multi-objective optimization commonly occurred in NVH problems. Response surface models, called engineering database of design space, provide an efficient means to rapidly model the trade-off among many conflicting NVH goals in automotive. In the design of insulator and isolator in automotive interior part, it is important not only to construct effective matrices of NVH but also to build up engineering database of current products. The experimental design especially based on orthogonal array and the nonlinear optimization algorithms are successfully used together to obtain the optimal design of insulator and isolator. The $2^{nd}$ order response surface models of absorption coefficient and insertion loss are constructed by using modified Taguchi's $L_{12}2^13^7$ orthogonal array and successfully used in optimal design of insulator and isolator.

  • In this paper, the design and implementation of echo canceller with new variable step size algorithm is discussed. The method used in the new algorithm is to periodically adopt the test function which helps an optimal coefficient tracking. This algorithm outperforms LMS and VS algorithms in convergence speed and steady state error. As the period of test function is decreased, the speed of convergence is improved, but the number of calculation is increased, then the trade off between these parameters must be considered. Simulation results show new algorithm outperforms LMS and VS algorithms in convergence rate. For the design of hardware, circuit is designed with VHDL, and synthesized with Act1 withc is a FPGA library of ActelTM in use of synovation of InterGraph$^{TM}$. Verification of the synthesized circuit is carried out with simulator DLAB. The circuit based on the algorithm which is suggested in this paper calculated 7 radix places of inary number. A simulation data for the verification is based on the data of algorithm simulation. When the same input data is applied to the both simulation, output results of circuit simulation had slight difference in compare with that of algorithm simulation. The number of used gate is about 5,500 and We have 5.53MHz in maximum frequency.y.

  • Recently, the study on non-linear equalization, self-recovering equalization using the neural Network structure or Fuzzy logic, is lively in progress. In this thesis, if the value of error difference is large, coefficient adaptation rate is bigger, and if being small, it is smaller. We proposed the new FSG(Fuzzy Stochastic Gradient)/CMA algorithm combining TS(Tagaki-Sugeno) fuzzy model having fast convergence rate and low mean square error(MSE) and CMA(Constant Modulus Algorithm) which is prone to ISI and insensitive to phase alteration. As a simulation result of the designed channel adaptive equalizer using the proposed FSG/CMA algorithm, it is shown that SNR is improved about 3.5dB comparing to the conventional algorithm.

  • Sub-arrays of arbitrary conformal array have different geometric shape through steering direction, thus the beam patterns of sub-arrays are always non-uniform. In this paper, we apply the beam pattern synthesis method using convex optimization into the conformal array, and shows the improvement of uniformity of beam performance. The simulation is performed with the conformal array of cut-sphere shape. As a result, the standard deviation of 3 dB beamwidth in elevation is greatly reduced but the directivity index is also reduced. To alleviate this trade-off, we propose a convex optimization using a shading function.

Equity-Efficiency Trade-off: the Case of Inheritance Tax (상속세(相續稅)에 있어서의 형평(衡平)과 효율성(效率性)의 괴리(乖離))

  • This paper examines the effect of redistributive inheritance tax on income distribution and social welfare. The model used here is the Overlapping-Generations Model consisting of individuals with different bequest motives where the lifetime income distribution in each cohort is determined endogeneously by the dynamic bequest process. It is shown that the introduction of redistributive inheritance tax can improve the vertical equity in the sense that the increase in tax rate reduces the coefficient of variations of intra-cohort income distribution in steady-state. However, it is also shown that, the effect on social welfare, when measured by Benthamite SWF, is uncertain in general. The numerical simulations show that, in spite of its equity-enhancing effect, the tax increase can actually lower the steady-state social welfare within the plausible range of parametric values, through the long-run output effect as well as the deadweight welfare loss incurred by tax distortion. Hence, the problem of equity-efficiency trade-off can arise in this case. However, if both the market interest rate and the elasticity of marginal utility in individual's preference function are sufficiently high, it is shown to be possible that the steady-state social welfare is enhanced by the introduction of inheritance tax.
