  • In relation to the travel itinerary recommendation service, which has recently become in high demand, our previous work introduces a method to quantify the popularity of places including tour spots, restaurants, and accommodations through social big data analysis, and to create a travel schedule based on the analysis results. On the other hand, the generated schedule was mainly composed of travel routes that connected tour spots with the shorted distance, and detailed schedule information including restaurants and accommodation information for each travel date was not provided. This paper presents an algorithm for constructing a detailed travel route using a scenario template in a travel schedule created based on social big data, and introduces a prototype system that implements it. The proposed system consists of modules such as place information collection, place-specific popularity score estimation, shortest travel rout generation, daily schedule organization, and UI visualization. Experiments conducted based on social reviews collected from 63,000 places in the Gyeongnam province proved effectiveness of the proposed system.

  • In this study, we developed an algorithm for automatic travel itinerary planning based on expert recommendation. The proposed algorithm generates an itinerary by patterning a number of travel routes based on the automatic itinerary generation method based on the routes recommended by travel experts. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, we generated 30 itinerary for Singapore, Bankok, and Da Nang using both algorithms and analyzed the mean difference of trip distances with t-test and interater reliability of those itineraries. The result shows that the itineraries based on the proposed algorithm is not different from that of VRP(Vehicle routing problem) algorithm and interater reliability is high enough to show that the proposed algorithm is effective enough for real-world usage.

  • Recently, the marine leisure are being emphasized with improving the quality of life style by increased income and spare time. Also, there is a increasement of people's interest in marine leisure activities. But resources and facilities do not grow in proportion to the quantitative growth of the current marine leisure industry. Besides, a leisure ship operator tends to choose a simple or familiar route of the local area rather than a new leisure routes which are not explored due to lack of accessible areas information. This paper proposes a routes recommendation system in order to solve above problems based on marine resource database. The databases have been constructed through investigation and analysis of navigational information such as environmental conditions including weather conditions and sea status, field of marine leisure activities, tourist attractions and natural landscape, and marine leisure prohibited areas. Therefore we have developed and implemented the route recommendation system that provides various information necessary to route operation of leisure boats.

  • The South Korean rail authority is constructing a nationwide tourism belt by developing new rail tour routes in an effort to combine local tourism resources with rail service and to create value in regional areas. As massive financial resources are required to develop and operate such tourist trains, governing authorities are required to examine the feasibility of this project as a sound business model and to assess the public benefit and profitability of the project. In this study, the economic feasibility of the tourist trains was assessed with the contingent valuation method (CVM). According to an estimation of the willingness to pay of potential tour train passengers, the surveyed subjects were willing to pay fares that were higher than prices currently published at the time of this study, thereby demonstrating that the economic value they invest on tourist trains may be higher than published prices at the time. For instance, they were willing to pay 28.4% and 54.9% more for the O-train and V-train types, respectively, according to the study, suggesting that the quality as perceived by train passengers for tourist train services is relatively high. The study is significant in that it succeeded in quantifying the satisfaction level of tourist train passengers using quantitative data (additional funds people are willing to pay).

  • The Korea Air Force(KAF) has operated freight flights based on the prefixed time and route schedule, which is adjusted once in a month. The major purpose of the operation of freight flights in the KAF is to distribute necessary supplies from the home air base to other air bases. The secondary purpose is to train the young pilots to get more experiences in navigation. Each freight flight starts from and returned to the home air base everyday except holidays, while it visits several other air bases to accomplish its missions. The study aims to forecast freight demand at each base by using time series analysis, and then it tried to optimize the cost of operating flights by solving vehicle routing problem. For more specifically, first, several constraints in operating cargos were defined by reviewing the Korea Air Force manuals and regulation. With such constraints, an integer programming problem was formulated for this specific routing problem allowing several visits in a tour with limitation of maximum number of visits. Then, an algorithm to solve the routing problem was developed. Second, the time series analysis method was applied to find out the freight demand at each air base from the mother air base in the next month. With the forecasted demands and the developed solution algorithm, the oprimum routes are calculated for each flight. Finally, the study compared the solved routing system by the developed algorithm with the existing routing system of the Korea Air Force. Through this comparison, the study proved that the proposed method can provide more (economically) efficient routing system than the existing system in terms of computing and monetary cost. In summary, the study suggested objective criteria for air routing plan in the KAF. It also developed the methods which could forecast properly the freight demands at each bases by using time series analysis and which could find the optimum routing which minimizes number of cargo needed. Finally, the study showed the economical savings with the optimized routing system by using real case example.

  • In present, physical distribution industry fields are offering more convenient services using RFID, but there is plenty of room for improvement. And then, utilizing advantages of RFID which quick and simple manages goods and GPS which gets information of position at the present, we implemented a physical distribution management system can manages the information for distribution process of goods easier. We can get much information that the number of loaded goods, the data of goods, the state of distribution, whether or not missing, etc. as attached a RFID reader to the truck. and when truck is moving, we can also obtain much information consumer want that the real time data of position, distribution routes, etc. for loaded goods as received a latitude and longitude from GPS. These information have recorded, managed, and linked Google map, we can grasp the distribution information of goods on World Wide Web service. Because this service is focus on the image not the text can give the information required by the consumer on visual, it is different from the existing service. At this point of time that the RFID and GPS have used in overall industry, If these services have researched and developed with transportation, tour, etc. industry as well as physical distribution, it is possible to utilize more widely.
