  • Embedded systems are used in many fields such as home appliances, terminals, controls, communications, etc. So, to manage, control, and test these embedded systems, monitoring programs have been developed variously. In this paper, to overcome the characteristic faults of embedded systems which have resource restrictions, we implemented a development environment based on NFS and designed a monitoring tool that can evaluate and analyze kernel performance in embedded equipment by using LTT(Linux Trace Toolkit). Also, we designed a method to show monitoring data collected by using a monitoring tool, called MONETA 2.0, through the web-page.

  • The purpose of this study is to trace historical changes and to show broad spectrums in landscape architectural drawing. Drawing has been both a locus of interpreting a site and a vehicle of imagining the new landscape. The designed landscape might be influenced by the way to draw in landscape design. Despite of its importance, landscape architectural drawing has rarely been discussed. Here, the drawing will be understood as theoretical issues and texts for criticism. Recently, the drawing has primarily been recognized in functional and instrumental ways. The stereotypes office drawings such as plan, section, perspective, axonometric are typical examples. Its symbolic and metaphoric dimensions have been seriously diminished. As a result, the poetic power in the designed landscape might be devastated. Composite drawing, notation are the alternative drawings to overcome the above mentioned dilemma along with the adaption of collage and photomontage. Finally, I would argue that landscape architectural drawing can be a creative tool to elicit the idea and to reveal the trace of memory. It could be also a poetic locus to postulating the vision. Designers should utilize both traditional drawing and experimental drawing in order to reconcile the instrumental representation with the symbolic representation.

  • Three-dimensional forging analysis becomes an inevitable tool to make design process more reliable and more producible. In this study, in order to make the investigation for three-dimensional forging analysis more conveniently and accurately, a new post processor was developed. For post-processing of multi-stage forging simulation, efficient data structure was proposed and applied by using STL. New file architecture was developed to handle successive and huge data efficiently, common in three-dimensional forging analysis. Since sectioning and flow tracing plays an important role in the investigation of analysis result, we developed an algorithm suitable for 4-node and 10-node tetrahedron. This flow tracing algorithm can trace and reverse-trace flow through remeshing. Developed program shows good performance and functionality. Especially, a big size problem can be handled easily due to proposed data structure and file architecture.

  • In this paper, we propose the self-autonomous algorithm for mobile robot system (MRS). The proposed mobile robot system which is learned by learning with the neural network can trace the target at the same distances. The mobile robot can use ultrasonic sensors and calculate the distance between target and mobile robot. By teaming the setup distance, current distance and command velocity, the robot can do intelligent self-autonomous drive. We use the neural network and back-propagation algorithm as a tool of learning. As a result, we confirm the ability of tracing the target with proposed mobile robot.

  • LEON3 is a 32-bit synthesizable processor based on the SPARC V8. It can be connected to AMBA 2.0 bus and has a 7- stage pipeline, IEEE-754 FPU and 256[KB] cache. It can be easily implemented using FPGA and used for a SoC design. DSU which comes with LEON3 can be used to control and monitor the operation of LEON3. And DSU makes it easy to set a debugging environment for the development of both hardware and software for an embedded systems based on LEON3. This paper presents the summary of the debugging tool for LEON3 based embedded systems. The debugging tool can initialize the target hardware, find out how the target hardware is configured, load application code to a specified memory space and run that application code. To provide users a debugging environment, it can set breakpoints and control the operation of LEON3 correspondingly. And function call trace is one of key functions of the debugging tool.

  • In this study, the genetic diversities of multi-resistant Salmonella typhimurium (ST) isolates were analyzed via the application of both pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis methods, using 6 kinds of primers (REP, ERIC, SERE, BOX, P-1254 and OPB-17). And their discriminative abilities (DA) were also compared in order to determine the most effective and reliable analysis method. 118 S. typhimurium isolates, cultured from diverse animals and human patients in Korea beginning in 1993, were analyzed and subjected to a comparison of Simpson's index of diversity (SID), using both PFGE and PCR methods. PFGE by XbaI enzyme digestion allowed for discrimination into 9 pulsotypes, with high SID values (0.991) on the genomic DNA level. This shows that PFGE is a very discriminative genotypic tool, and also that multiple clones of S. typhimurium isolates had existed in domestic animals and humans in Korea since 1993. However, we could ultimately not to trace the definitive sources or animal reservoirs of specific S. typhimurium isolates examined in this study. Depending on the SID values, the combined method (7 kinds of method) was found to be the most discriminative method, followed by (in order) SERE-PCR, REP-PCR, ERIC-PCR, PFGE & OPB-17 (RAPD), P-1254 (RAPD), and BOX-PCR at the $80\%$ clone cut-off value. This finding suggests that the REP-PCR method (which utilizes 4 primer types) may be an alternative tool to PFGE for the genotyping of S. typhimurium isolates, with comparable cost, time, and labor requirement. The establishment of a highly reliable and discriminatory method for epidemiologic analysis is considered necessary in order for researchers to trace the sources of specific pathogens and, consequently, to control and prevent the spread of epidemic S. typhimurium isolates to humans.

  • It is important for effective visualization to summarize not only a large amount of debugging information but also the mental models of abstract ideas. This paper presents an abstract visualization tool which provides effective visualization of thread structure and race information for OpenMP programs with critical sections and nested parallelism, using a partial order execution graph which captures logical concurrency among threads. This tool is supported by an on-the-fly trace-filtering technique to reduce space complexity of visualization information, and a graph abstraction technique to reduce visual complexity of nested parallelism and critical sections in the filtered trace. The graph abstraction of partial-order relation and race information is effective for understanding program execution and detecting to eliminate races, because the user can examine control flow of program and locations of races in a structural fashion.

  • A simulation program SIMULTSONIC is under development at CNDE to help determine and/or help optimize ultrasonic probe locations for inspection of complex components. SIMULTSONIC provides a ray-trace based assessment for immersion and contact modes of inspection. The code written in Visual C++ operating in Microsoft Windows environment provides an interactive user interface. In this paper, a description of the various features of SIMULTSONIC is given followed by examples illustrating the capability of SIMULTSONIC to deal with inspection of canonical objects such as pipes. In particular, the use of SIMULTSONIC in the inspection of very thin-walled pipes (with 450 urn wall thickness) is described. Ray trace based assessment was done using SIMULTSONIC to determine the standoff distance and the angle of oblique incidence for an immersion mode focused transducer. A 3-cycle Hanning window pulse was chosen for simulations. Experiments were carried out to validate the simulations. The A-scans and the associated B-Scan images obtained through simulations show good correlation with experimental results, both with the arrival time of the signal as well as with the signal amplitudes.

  • This study introduces a new method of combining Imaging Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (Imaging-DOAS) data and plume dispersion formulas for power plant emissions to determine the three-dimensional structure of a dispersing pollution plume and the spatial distributions of trace gas volume mixing ratios (VMRs) under conditions of negligible water droplet and aerosol effects on radiative transfer within the plume. This novel remote-sensing method, applied to a power plant stack plume, was used to calculate the two-dimensional distributions of sulfur dioxide ($SO_2$) and nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$) VMRs in stack emissions for the first time. High $SO_2$ VMRs were observed only near the emission source, whereas high $NO_2$ VMRs were observed at locations several hundreds of meters away from the initial emission. The results of this study demonstrate the capability of this new method as a tool for estimating plume dimensions and trace gas VMRs in power plant emissions.
