  • Recently, rotating elements which use mechanical and electrical systems have been utilized for high speed and accuracy to increase the performance. The most important thing to get a more reliable system is to understand the friction, wear and characteristics which has an effect on various coated surfaces. In this study, the tribologicali characteristics of various soft/hard materials were investigated by using a custom-built pin-on-reciprocator tester From the experimental results, it was found that the friction coefficients of the soft material coated surfaces were lower under various normal loads due to trier self-lubricating ability and material transfer to the counter surface.

  • A study for investigating the effects of the cutting conditions (radial depth of cut feed per tooth) and the number of tooth on the side wall of prismatically milled workpiece is described. This study is available not only for understanding the geometrical characteristics of the end milled side wall but also for finding the optimal cutting conditions. In this work, the side wall geometry was characterized by the straightness and the location of maximum peak point. Through this study, it was revealed that the geometrical characteristics of the end milled side wall are strongly related to the material removal per tooth and the number of tooth.

  • Recently, the uses of Ceramic/metal bonded joints, resin/metal joints, adhesive joints, composite materials which are composed of dissimiliar materials have increased in various industry fields. Since the ceramic/metal bonded joints material is made at a high temperature, residual stress distributions due to differences in material properties were investigated by varying material parameters. The two dimensional finite element analysis was performed to study residual stress distribution in Si3N4/SM45C bonded joint with a copper interlayer between the silicon nitride(Si3N4) and the structural carbon steel(SM45C) and 4-point bending tests were carried out under room temperature. Fracture surface and crack propagation path were observed using scanning electron microscope and characteristics of its fracture was discussed.

  • The automated chemical analysis shop floor are developed for the environmental pollution problems in our chemical analysis center. This shop floor have the several equipments include weight, pour, dry, heater, boiler, mixture, spectroscopy etc. And the material handling components are made up by the stored stack, conveyore, turntables, robot etc. Computer simulation has been an important tool for these complete design problem. We have designed the arangement of chemical equipments and material flow systems by using the simulator "AutoModII". "AutoMoII" is one of the advanced simulator, CAD-like drawing tools with a powerful, engineering oriented language to model control logic and material flow. The result is the modeling of the chemical analysis system in accurate, three dimensional detail. We could designed the set able layout and scheduling system by using the AutoMoII simulator. • The old technique of sandblasting which has been used for paint or scale removing, deburring and glass decorating has recently been developed into a powder blasting technique for brittle materials, capable of producing micro structures larger than $100{\mu}m$. In this paper, we studied on the predictive modeling of material removal and surface roughness in powder blasting of glass by design of experiments. The surface characteristics and surface shape of powder blasted glass surface were tested under different blasting parameter. Finally, we proposed a predictive model for powder blasting process, and compared with experimental results.

  • Nondestructive nonlinear acoustic method in two dimensions is suggested as a useful tool for detecting defects in a composite layer-structured material. Spectrum level changes in fundamental and harmonic frequencies are observed in the presence of a layer type defect compared with in the absence of such a defect. It is proposed in this study that such spectrum changes we due to the mode conversion. The layer type defect makes different normal modes due to different boundary conditions in the thickness direction for the Lamb waves propagating in a layer-structured material. Specifically, the normal mode with the fundamental frequency in the case of the water-layer gap is converted to the normal mode with the second harmonic frequency in the case of the air-layer gap.

  • Alumina, a typical ceramic material used for semiconductors and display parts, is the subject of research and development efforts for mineral material processing. Alumina is extremely difficult to process since it is brittleness to either fine ceramics material. We have studied the shape of diamond particles and their use in machinability for alumina processing. Our study was carried out under various processing conditions, including cutting speed, table speed, and the surface roughness of the work piece. We also analyzed the wear characteristics of the tool by total cutting.

  • In this paper, the current-voltage characteristics of a 4H-SiC MESFET is simulated by using the Atlas Simulation tool. we are able to use the simulator to extract more information about the new material 4H-SiC, including the mobility, velocity-field Curve and the Schottky barrier height. We have enabled and used the new simulator to investigate breakdown Voltage and thus predict operation limitiations of 4H-SiC device. Modeling results indicate that the Breakdown Voltage is 197 V and Current is 100 mA

  • Flow forming is an incremental forming process in which rollers are used to form cylindrical parts with repeated turning of both roller and starting material. Both sheet and tube can be used as the starting material. The process is highly useful for producing hollow shaped parts from a tube, with the benefit of the average strain in the final shape being significantly lower than that from a sheet material. In the present study, the flow forming process was studied and optimized for producing a hollow shaped part from seamless steel tube by both experiment and numerical analysis. Upon considering the difficulty of forming seamless steel sheet, the thickness reduction was distributed over several tool paths. In the end, an optimum process condition was attained, and the experiment verified the simulation results.
