Purpose: Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a complex genetic disorder that results from the lack of paternally expressed genes in the chromosome 15q11-q13 region. This study was performed to delineate the clinical features of PWS infants and toddlers and the effects of two-year growth hormone (GH) treatment according to gender and age at the start of treatment. Methods: The clinical characteristics and the results of the GH treatment were reviewed retrospectively for 30 PWS patients diagnosed by molecular genetic testing and clinical manifestations. Results: The mean age at diagnosis with PWS was 13.7 months (2-47 months of age). All patients showed the characteristics of facial dysmorphism, including brown hair and almond-shaped eyes. Most patients showed developmental delays/mental retardation (93.3%), cryptorchidism (75%), feeding problems in infancy (73.3%), and neonatal or infantile hypotonia (66.7%). Among 30 patients, 14 PWS infants and toddlers had been treated with GH for more than two years. Two years of GH treatment resulted in an improvement in head circumference-standard deviation score (HC-SDS), body weight-SDS, insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) SDS, IGF binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) SDS, lean body mass, and bone mineral content, especially in IGFBP-3 SDS and motor development in PWS patients younger than two years of age. There was significant increase in IGF-1 SDS and IGFBP-3 SDS among male PWS patients after GH treatment. Conclusion: Our study showed increases in IGFBP-3 SDS and an improvement in motor development among individuals under two years of age after GH treatment, and significant difference in IGF-1 SDS and IGFBP-3 SDS by gender.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to identify the parenting stress of nurses with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers. Methods: The subjects are the 117 nurses working in hospitals in Gangneung City. The instruments are the questionnaires about general characteristics (14 items), parenting stress (32 items). Results: The parenting stress of nurses scored 2.46. The total parenting stress according to the demographic characteristics, there were no significant differences, but according to the position, baby-sitter, parenting support did show the significant differences. Conclusion: Nurse's parenting stress is slightly high. But it is very important to develop the nursing intervention to relieve the parenting stress by considering the characteristics that showed the significant differences in the parenting stress.
Objectives: Young children's feeding characteristics can play an important role in eating habits and health during later childhood. This study was conducted to examine the associations of feeding characteristics with dietary patterns and obesity in children. Methods: This study utilized data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted between 2013 and 2017. In total, 802 toddlers were included, with information on their demographic characteristics, feeding practices and duration, and 24-hour recall obtained from their parents. Feeding characteristics were categorized into feeding type, duration of total breastfeeding, duration of total formula feeding, duration of exclusive breastfeeding, and age when starting formula feeding. Dietary patterns were identified based on factor loadings for the food groups for 3 major factors, with "vegetables & traditional," "fish & carbohydrates," and "sweet & fat" patterns. Overweight/obesity was defined as ≥85th percentile in body mass index based on the 2017 Korean National Growth charts for children and adolescents. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine associations between feeding characteristics and dietary patterns. The association between dietary patterns and obesity was analyzed using multivariable logistic regression analysis. Results: The early introduction of formula feeding was inversely associated with the "vegetables & traditional" pattern (β=-0.18; 95% confidence interval [CI], -0.34 to -0.02). A higher "vegetables & traditional" intake was associated with a lower risk of obesity (odds ratio, 0.48; 95% CI, 0.24 to 0.95). Conclusions: Feeding characteristics are associated with dietary patterns in later childhood, and dietary patterns were shown to have a potential protective association against obesity.
The purpose of this study is to verify the relationship between parents' adult attachment, resilience, and psychological well-being, as it is inferred that infants and toddlers attending daycare centers will be directly or indirectly affected by their parents' adult attachment type. For this study, a total of 247 copies of the SPSS 12.0 statistical program were used for analysis, except for 43 copies where data were omitted after a questionnaire was conducted on 300 parents (150 parents and 150 mothers) of daycare centers located in Gyeonggi Province. Looking at the results of this study, first, it was confirmed that the general characteristics of parental adult attachment, self-recovery elasticity, and psychological well-being stimulate normality statistically. Second, the relationship between adult attachment and self-recovery elasticity was verified as a negative relationship, and it was confirmed that it had a significant effect. Third, it was confirmed that the relationship between adult attachment and psychological well-being was verified as a negative relationship and had a significant effect. As a follow-up study, we propose a phenomenological study of the mediating effect of psychological well-being on the influence of parents' adult attachment on self-recovery elasticity, parental attachment, resilience, and psychological well-being with infants and toddlers.

This study was conducted to examine the influence of personal characteristics of infant-toddler and mother, social support and mother-child interaction on mother-child attachment. A descriptive study was implemented, and data were gathered from March 1 to September 30, 2016. The subjects were 215 mothers whose children were in infancy or toddlers. A survey was conducted with self-administered questionnaires regarding general characteristics, social support, mother-child interaction and attachment. SPSS 24.0 was used for descriptive statistics, intergroup comparisons of average scores, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. Statistically significant differences in average attachment scores according to gender (t=3.200, p<0.002), age (t=4.037, p<0.001) and temperament (F=4.614, p<0.011) were observed among the characteristics of infant-toddlers, as well as according to age (F=18.028, p<0.001) and academic credentials (F=4.241, p<0.016) among the characteristics of mother. Attachment was correlated with social support (r=0.507, p<0.001) and with mother-child interaction (r=0.571, p<0.001). The factors that affected attachment were mother-child interaction (${\beta}=0.361$, p<0.001), social support (${\beta}=0.309$, p<0.001), age (under the age of 30)(${\beta}=-0.370$, p<0.001) and marriage duration (less than 10 years)(${\beta}=-0.179$, p<0.033). Overall, the results indicate that interaction programs that bolster social support and mother-child interactions that exert a crucial influence on attachment should be developed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the overall developmental characteristics of Korean children ages 0 to 8, and then explore specifically how children's social and emotional developmental levels are related to mothers' psychological states. This study was part of newly launched Boryung Baby Panel Study using web-based survey in 2011. The subjects were all mothers of 940 infants(0-2 years), 654 toddlers(3-5 years), and 484 school-age children(6-8 years) The mothers were asked to administer the web-based standardized developmental checklist for their child and fill out the questionnaires of psychological variables(life satisfaction, depression, parenting attitude, parenting efficacy, and parenting stress). The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, and logistic regression for SPSS 20.0 windows. Major findings were as follows: 1. Infants(0 to 2) showed higher developmental level in cognition and fine motor skill domain compared to other domains. 2. Most toddlers(3 to 5) showed normal development in the most domain such as gross motor skill, fine motor skill, language, letter, number, self-help behavior. 3. In socio-emotional development domain, the ratio of risk or delay group were highest at both infant and toddler. 4. The 6-8 years old children that belong to risk group by the result of SDQ(emotion and behavior assessment) were also relatively high. 5. The relation of the children's socio-emotional developmental level and the mother's psychological variables were reciprocal. Based on these findings, the implications and the limitations of current study were discussed.
This study aims to identify the difference in teacher commitment at workplace child-care centers and understand the relationship between teacher commitment and teacher efficacy. To achieve this, the data were collected from 176 teachers who were working at workplace child-care centers in Gyeonggi province, One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Scheff$\acute{e}$ test, and Pearson's correlation analysis were performed. According to the results, it was found that there is a high positive correlation between teacher commitment and teacher efficacy. The teacher commitment appears high and especially the teacher commitment to infants and toddlers appears the highest at the workplace child-care centers. It was also found that there is a significant difference in teacher efficacy depending on academic ability and work experience of teachers, age of infants and toddlers, and total number of teachers in the centers. This study is significant in that it provides the basic data for drawing up the measures to support the teacher commitment as one of the internal characteristics of the teachers working at the workplace child-care centers. Further studies need to explore the relationship between teacher commitment and teacher efficacy depending on the type of kindergarten or day care center.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to evaluate the epidemiological characteristics of?children with fall-down injuries according to age groups and to analyze the major trauma groups that were treated at the emergency room (ER). Methods: Among 1,222 children under age 6 who were treated at the ER from January 2008 to December 2009, a retrospective study was conducted through examination of medical records. The children were classified by age into 3 groups: infant, toddler, and pre-schooler. In each group, the differences between the causative factors that led to the fall-down injuries were analyzed. Also, ISS (Injury Severity Score) score above 4 was classified as major trauma, and an ISS score 0-1 was classified as a minor trauma. The relationship between major trauma and age group was also analyzed. Results: Through an analysis of child fall-down injuries, men (56.6%), toddler (47.3%), head-related symptoms (72.9%), furniture-related traumas (80.2%), and falls from less than a 1-m height (69.9%) were found to be common factors. Furthermore, in radiological studies, fractures and brain hemorrhages accounted for 16.9% of major traumas, and simple skull fractures were the most common (21.4%). Distributed according to age group, the factors relevant to fall injuries were fall height and head-related symptoms for infants, accident site, fall height and head-related symptoms for toddlers, and accident site for pre-schoolers (p<0.05). Also, headrelated symptoms and fall height were independent factors of major trauma in all age groups. However, major traumas (17.3%) were related to dumped trauma, fall height and accident site (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study was mainly about head-related injuries, and toddler were most common victims. The relevant factors for the major trauma were falling height for infants, accident site and falling height for toddlers, and accident site, falling height for pre-schoolers.

The study examined the behavior of infant's caregivers using public libraries, measured the level of awareness of infant and toddler services in the library to determine the factors affecting their revisit or recommendation of use to others, and examined the impact of such recognition on the use behavior, revisit and willingness to recommend others. The study surveyed 146 caregivers of infants who use four public libraries in Gwangju Metropolitan City on demographic characteristics, library use behavior, level of awareness of library services, library revisit and recommendation to others. Analysis of this survey shows that the factors that influence the caregivers' revisit of the library or their desire to recommend to others through their caregivers' use of the library are the factors that influence the expansion of information data, the stability of space facilities, the accessibility of space facilities, and the ease of participation in programs among the various service factors provided by the library rather than the personal factors of infants and toddlers' caregivers.

Objectives: Restricted and repetitive behaviors (RRBs) are a core symptom in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The complexity of behavioral patterns has called for the creation of phenotypically homogeneous subgroups among individuals with ASD. The purpose of this study was 1) to investigate the different types of RRBs and 2) to explore whether subgroups created by RRBs would show unique levels of functioning in toddlers and young children with ASD. Methods: A total of 313 children with ASD, aged 12-42 months were included in the analysis. The Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised was used to obtain information on the different types of RRBs by grouping 15 items into six categories. The Vineland Adaptive Behaviors Scale, a parent-reported questionnaire, was used to measure adaptive functioning. A portion of the children were analyzed separately for verbal-related RRBs based on their expressive language level. Two-step cluster analysis using RRB groups as features was used to create subgroups. Analysis of covariance while covarying for age and language was performed to explore the clinical characteristics of each cluster group. Results: Sensory-related RRBs were the most prevalent, followed by circumscribed interests, interest in objects, resistance to change, and repetitive body movements. A subset of the children was analyzed separately to explore verbal-related RRBs. Four cluster groups were created based on reported RRBs, with multiple RRBs demonstrating significant delays in adaptive functioning. Conclusion: Heterogeneity of RRBs emerges at a young age. The different patterns of RRBs can be used as valuable information to determine developmental trajectories with better implications for treatment approaches.
