디젤기관의 연료분사시기가 배기배출물 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Fuel Injection Timing on Exhaust Emissions Characteristics in Diesel Engine)

  • A study on the exhaust emissions of diesel engine with various fuel injection timing is peformed experimentally. In this paper, fuel injection timing is changed from BTDC $14^{\circ}$ to $20^{\circ}$ by $2^{\circ}$ intervals, the experiments are performed at engine speed 1800rpm and from load 25% to 100% by 25% intervals, and main measured parameters are fuel consumption rate, Soot, NOx. HC and CO emissions etc. The obtained conclusions are as follows (1) Specific fuel consumption is indicated the least value at BTDC $18^{\circ}$ of fuel injection timing and it is increased in case of leading the injection timing. (2) Soot emission is decreased in case of leading fuel injection timing and it is increased in the form of convex downwards with increasing the load. (3) $NO_x$ emission is increased in case of leading fuel injection timing and it is increased in the form of straight line nearly with increasing the load. (4) HC and CO emissions are decreased in case of leading fuel injection timing and they are changed in the form of convex downwards with increasing the load.

  • The objective of the research was to study the effects of Miller cycle in a modified using diesel engine. The engine was dedicated to natural gas usage by modifying pistons, fuel system and ignition systems. The engine was installed on a dynamometer and attached with various sensors and controllers. Intake valve timing, engine speed, load, injection timing and ignition timing are main parameters. The results of engine performances and emissions are present in form of graphs. Miller Cycle without supercharging can increase brake thermal efficiency and reduce brake specific fuel consumption. The injection timing must be synchronous with valve timing, speed and load to control the performances, emissions and knock margin. Throughout these tested speeds, original camshaft is recommended to obtain high volumetric efficiency. Retard ignition timing can reduce $NO_x$ emissions while maintaining high efficiency.

  • The effects of spark timing and exhaust valve timing change on exhaust gas temperature during cold start period of an SI engine are studied through engine bench tests. The exhaust gas temperature increases when the spark timing or valve timing are retarded individually, due to late combustion or slow flame speed. Therefore, exhaust gas temperature shows a large increase when the two timings are retarded simultaneously. However, it is considered that combustion stability during cold start deteriorated under these retarded conditions. To increase exhaust gas temperature for fast warmup of catalysts while maintaining combustion stability, an optimal condition for spark and valve timing retard should be applied for the cold start period.

  • Experimental study of variation of exhaust gas temperature was carried out with the changes of spark timing and exhaust valve timing during the cold start operation of an SI engine. To investigate the effects of these variables on combustion stability, cylinder pressure and exhaust gas temperature were measured and analyzed. Experimental results showed that exhaust gas temperature increased when spark and exhaust valve timings were retarded from the baseline cases. However, combustion stability during cold start deteriorated under the retarded conditions. To increase exhaust gas temperature for fast warmup of catalysts while maintaining combustion stability, an optimal condition for spark and valve timing retard should be appied for the cold start period.

Performance Analysis of UWB Systems in the Presence of Timing Jitter

  • In this paper, performances of different ultra-wideband (UWB) modulation schemes in the presence of timing jitter are evaluated and compared. Static and Rayleigh fading channels are considered. For fading channels, Oat and dispersive channels are assumed. First, bit error rate (BER) performances for each case are derived for a fixed value of timing jitter. Later, a uniform distribution of jitter is assumed to evaluate the performance of the system, and the theoretical results are verified by computer simulations. Finger estimation error is treated as timing jitter and an appropriate model is generated. Furthermore, a worst case distribution that provides an upper bound on the system performance is presented and compared with other distributions. Effects of timing jitter on systems employing different pulse shapes are analyzed to show the dependency of UWB performance on pulse shape. Although our analysis assumes uniform timing jitter, our framework can be used to evaluate the BER performance for any given probability distribution function of the jitter.

  • The single carrier frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) technology is an important part of the broadband wireless access communication system, which can effectively combat the frequency selective fading in the wireless channel. In SC-FDE communication system, the accuracy of timing synchronization directly affects the performance of the SC-FDE system. In this paper, on the basis of Schmidl timing synchronization algorithm a timing synchronization algorithm suitable for FPGA (field programmable gate array) implementation is proposed. In the FPGA implementation of the timing synchronization algorithm, the sliding window accumulation, quantization processing and amplitude reduction techniques are adopted to reduce the complexity in the implementation of FPGA. The simulation results show that the algorithm can effectively realize the timing synchronization function under the condition of reducing computational complexity and hardware overhead.

  • 무선 LAN 시스템을 위한 심볼동기에 대하여 연구되었다. OFDM 방식의 LAN 시스템에서 정확한 심볼동기시점에서의 시간 metric의 평균값과 분산을 이론적으로 구한다. 또한 채널의 다중경로 페이딩과 시간 부분 편차에 의한 심볼동기 성능 저하가, 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션에 의한 방법으로 아울러 분석되었다.

  • This paper proposes a symbol timing recovery method that is simple in structure and can provide high speed symbol synchronization. Transmitter and receiver are not synchronized in communication systems using digital modulation. Receiver should search the timing variation of transmitter continuously. The proposed timing recovery method searches sample position by comparing previous sample value with next sample value. This method can be applied to digital and optical transceivers with high data rate.

  • The ignition timing feedback control system was studied to enhance the engine power and to reduce the fuel consumption by optimizing the spark timing. The signal of a piezo-electric vibration transducer attached to the engine block was compared with that of a pressure transducer in order to determine the knock intensity. With the result of comparison the ignition timing feedback control system which detect the knock and correct the spark timing was set up. The ignition could be more advaced with this control system than the existing system without the continuous knocking, therefore the engine torque was increased.

  • 실시간 시스템에서 프로그램의 실행시간을 예측하는 것은 중요한 일이다. 기존의 언어에서는 실행시간은 예측하기에 힘든 요소들이 있다. Timing-C는 이러한 요소를 제거하고 사용자로부터 시간 제약을 입력받을 수 있도록 하였다. Timing-C언어를 이용하여 실시간 프로그램밍을 하기 위해 작성한 프로그램이 시간제약을 준수하고 있는지 알기 위해 시간 분석 도구가 필요하다. 시간 분석 도구는 작성된 프로그램의 실행시간을 제한하여 사용자에게예측된 결과를 알려주는 도구이다. 개발자는 이러한 도구를 이용하여 작성하고 있는 프로그램의 수행시간을 더욱 정확하게 예측할 수 있다.
