Ground motion intensity measure to evaluate seismic performance of rocking foundation system

  • The rocking foundation is effective for reducing structural seismic demand and avoiding overdesign of the foundation. It is crucial to evaluate the performance of rocking foundations because they cause plastic hinging in the soil. In this study, to derive optimized ground motion intensity measures (IMs) for rocking foundations, the efficiency of IMs correlated with engineering demand parameters (EDPs) was estimated through the coefficient determination using a physical modeling database for rocking shallow foundations. Foundation deformations, the structural horizontal drift ratio, and contribution in drift from foundation rotation and sliding were selected as crucial EDPs for the evaluation of rocking foundation systems. Among 15 different IMs, the peak ground velocity exhibited the most efficient parameters correlated with the EDPs, and it was discovered to be an efficient ground motion IM for predicting the seismic performance of rocking foundations. For vector regression, which uses two IMs to present the EDPs, the IMs indicating time features improved the efficiency of the regression curves, but the correlation was poor when these are used independently. Moreover, the ratio of the column-hinging base shear coefficient to the rocking base shear coefficient showed obvious trends for the accurate assessment of the seismic performance of rocking foundation-structure systems.

일본 기상청 계측진도의 국내 활용 (Application of the JMA instrumental intensity in Korea)

  • 계기에 의한 진도산정은 보통 PGA와 진도와의 경험적인 관계식으로부터 계산되어 왔다. 그러나 일본 기상청은 지진에 의한 피해의 정도는 관측된 PGA보다는 진도와 상관이 더 크다는 점에 착안하여, 지진 계측기에 의해 실시간으로 진도를 산정(JMA 계측 진도)함으로서 지진재해를 좀 더 정확히 평가하는 방안을 채택하고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 국내에서의 JMA 계측진도의 실제적인 활용방안을 제시하는 것이다. 한반도는 강진의 발생빈도가 낮기 때문에 사용할 수 있는 강진자료가 충분치 않다. 따라서 한반도의 지진원 특성과 감쇠특성에 맞는 강진동을 추계학적인 방법으로 합성하였다. 이러한 방법으로 합성된 강진자료에 대하여 JMA 계측진도를 포함한 6개의 공학적 지진동 상수들을 계산하였다. 다음으로 계산된 상수들 사이의 경험적인 관계식을 결정하였으며, 이 상수들을 몇 개의 그룹으로 분류하기 위한 군집분석을 수행하여 지진동 상수들을 분류하였다. 그 결과, JMA 가속도 ($a_0$)는 스펙트럼 진도와 유사한 그룹으로 분류되었으며, CAV(Cumulative Absolute Velocity)와는 비교적 관계가 먼 그룹으로 나타났다. JMA 계측진도는 지진재해 평가에 있어서 다른 하나의 평가척도로서 사용이 기능할 것으로 생각된다. 한편 지진재해의 예측에 활용이 가능한 PGA와 $a_0$에 대한 감쇠식이 모멘트 규모와 진원거리의 함수로 유도되었다.

도농교류 접근성을 고려한 농촌마을 공동시설의 입지평가모델 개발 (Developing Location-Evaluation Model on Community Facilities in Rural Villages Considering Accessibility for Urban-Rural Exchange)

  • Although the frequency of use for community facilities in rural villages is growing as well as the importance of the facilities for urban-rural exchange is being highlighted, study on spatial location-analysis of the facilities for such multi-purpose is not so much. This study aims to find the spatial distribution forms of community facilities in rural villages such as community center and rural-pocket park through location-analysis, in order to provide available data for selecting location in the future. As the study area, Sojeong-myeon, Sejong Special City was selected. This study conducted GIS analysis for criteria of the location-evaluation model developed in this study. This study introduced the concept of time-distance for accessibility analysis. This paper also used linear-consecutive scoring method(LCSM) as a scoring method of criteria and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) method for weighting values of criteria. The application results showed that the new model can generate the intensity of community facilities according to spatial distribution and accessibility from cities to the facilities.

  • This paper describes a probabilistic fracture mechanics (PFM) analysis based on Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. In the analysis of CANDU pressure tube, it is necessary to perform the PFM analyses based on statistical consideration of flaw generation time. A depth and an aspect ratio of initial semi-elliptical surface crack, a fracture toughness value, delayed hydride cracking (DHC) velocity, and flaw generation time are assumed to be probabilistic variables. In all the analyses, degradation of fracture toughness due to neutron irradiation is considered. Also, the failure criteria considered are plastic collapse, unstable fracture and crack penetration. For the crack growth by DHC, the failure probability was evaluated in due consideration of flaw generation time.

지하철 운행 중 발생하는 객차 내부 극저주파 자기장(ELF-MF) 세기 평가 (Evaluation of Intensity of Extremely Low Frequency Magnetic Fields (ELF-MF) Inside of Cabins as Generated During Subway Operation)

  • Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the intensity of the extremely low frequency magnetic fields(ELF-MF) generated inside of the cabins during subway operation. Methods: The ELF-MF intensity were investigated on 30 subway lines in Korea, including in the Greater Seoul Metropolitan Area(Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province), Incheon, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and Gwangju. ELF-MF intensity was measured at 0.9 m from the floor using EMDEX II meters with a resolution of $0.01{\mu}T$. All data were collected every three seconds and analyzed with EMCALC 2013 version 3.0B software. Basic characteristics of subway operation, including alternative current(AC) or direct current(DC), voltage level, and opening year of the line were investigated. Real-time information during measurement, such as the time of departure, moving and arrival of trains, were also recorded. Results: The arithmetic mean(AM) and maximum(Max) intensity of ELF-MF were $0.62{\mu}T$ and $11.51{\mu}T$, respectively. Compared by region, the ELF-MF intensity measured inside cabin were the highest in the Seoul Metropolitan Area($AM=0.80{\mu}T$), followed by Busan($AM=0.30{\mu}T$), Daegu($AM=0.29{\mu}T$), Incheon($AM=0.14{\mu}T$), Gwangju($AM=0.04{\mu}T$) and Daejeon($AM=0.03{\mu}T$). The average ELF-MF level measured in AC trains($AM=1.36{\mu}T$) was also significantly higher than in DC trains($AM=0.28{\mu}T$). In terms of the opening year of the subway, trains opened before 1990($AM=0.85{\mu}T$) was the highest and the lowest was 2000-2009($AM=0.24{\mu}T$). Conclusions: The AC supply has the greatest influence on the generation of the ELF-MF intensity in subway cabins.

지진강도 범위를 고려한 철근콘크리트 교량의 지진취약도 해석 (Seismic Fragility Analysis of a RC Bridge Including Earthquake Intensity Range)

  • 이 연구에서는 지진강도의 범위가 철근콘크리트 교량의 지진취약도 해석에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 이 목적을 위해 과거 지진에 의해 손상된 철근콘크리트 교량을 선택하여 비선형 동적 시간이력해석모델을 개발하였다. 총 25개의 계측지진파에 대해 비선형 동적 시간이력해석을 수행하여 교각의 최대 수평변위비를 구한 후, 이 결과를 이용하여 지진취약도 해석을 수행하였다. 지진취약도 해석에서는 최우도법을 사용하여 손상초과확률을 계산하였고, 계측지진파의 지진강도 범위가 지진취약도 곡선에 미치는 영향을 해석적으로 검토하였다. 예측된 해석결과, 실제 교량의 물리적인 손상상태를 반영할 수 있는 합리적인 지진취약도 해석 및 내진성능평가를 위해서는 계측지진파의 지진강도 범위가 매우 중요함을 알 수 있었다.

SCALE-ORIGEN-ARP를 이용한 사용후핵연료 내 중성자 및 감마선원 분석 (An analysis of neutron sources and gamma-ray in spent fuels using SCALE-ORIGEN-ARP)

  • The spent nuclear fuel is burned during the planned cycle in the plant and then generates elements such as actinide series, fission products, and plutonium with a long half-life. An 'interim storage' step is needed to manage the high radioactivity and heat emitted by nuclides until permanent-disposal. In the case of Korea, there is no space to dispose of high-level radioactive waste after use, so there is a need for a period of time using interim storage. Therefore, the intensity of neutrons and gamma-ray must be determined to ensure the integrity of spent nuclear fuel during interim storage. In particular, the most important thing in spent nuclear fuel is burnup evaluation, estimation of the source term of neutrons and gamma-ray is regarded as a reference measurement of the burnup evaluation. In this study, an analysis of spent nuclear fuel was conducted by setting up a virtual fuel burnup case based on CE16×16 fuel to check the total amount and spectrum of neutron, gamma radiation produced. The correlation between BU (burnup), IE (enrichment), and CT (cooling time) will be identified through spent nuclear fuel burnup calculation. In addition, the composition of nuclide inventory, actinide and fission products can be identified.

3차원 비대칭 철근콘크리트 구조물의 비선형 지진응답해석 (Nonlinear Seismic Analysis of a Three-dimensional Unsymmetrical Reinforced Concrete Structure)

  • 본 논문은 철근콘크리트 구조물의 지진해석에 관한 국제 벤치마크 프로젝트인 SMART-2013을 통해 3차원 비대칭 철근콘크리트 건물의 고유진동수와 재료 비선형성을 고려한 지진응답을 계산한 결과를 제시한다. 이를 위해 콘크리트와 철근의 비선형 재료모델을 구성하고 대표부피요소에 대한 국부테스트를 수행하여 비선형 모델의 성능을 평가하였다. 이러한 SMART-2013 철근콘크리트 건물의 비선형 유한요소모델에 대해 모드해석과 저강도 지진하중에 대한 선형 시간이력해석을 수행한 결과, 구조물의 고유진동수, 변위 및 가속도 시간이력이 SMART-2013 프로젝트에서 제시한 실험값들과 유사하였다. 또한 Northridge 지진에 대한 변위 및 가속도 응답의 시간이력과 최대층간상대변위의 응답스펙트럼을 계산하여 고강도 지진하중에 대한 이 철근콘크리트 건물의 거동을 평가하였다.

밀봉형 볼베어링용 그리이스의 노화와 잔류수명 (Deterioration and Residual Life of Grease for Sealed Ball Bearing)

  • Grease deterioration of mineral oil type grease was investigated using sealed deep groove ball bearings (6203) and bearing life test rig. The bearing test was performed under 3,000 rpm and 245 N radial load at 120。C. Grease taken ken tested bearings was checked in using certain evaluation methods, for example, oxidation induction time (OIT), FT-IR peak intensity, leakage .ate, bleeding .ate, total acid number. (TAN) and bearing noise increase. Within these test conditions, OIT, TAN, bleeding rate were changed gradually in accordance with bearing operating time and showed useful indices for deterioration of grease.

인공심장판막 환자를 대상으로 한 Warfarin 치료의 적정성 평가 (The Evaluation of Therapeutic Control with Warfarin in Patients with Mechanical Heart Valve Prostheses)

  • The goal of oral anticoagulation therapy with warfarin is to maintain INR values within the therapeutic range in order to prevent complications such as bleeding and thrombosis. The purposes of this study were to investigate the current level of anticoagulation control using INR values, to investigate the incidences of thromboembolism and bleeding complications, and to compare the effect of low intensity INR regimen with therapeutic range recommended by ACCP (American College of Chest Physician). Two hundred three patients with mechanical heart valve replacement done at Yonsei University Cardiovascular Center between January 1994 and December 1996 were selected and reviewed retrospectively. The target INR ranges of $2.5\sim3.5$ (ACCP standard) and low intensity INR of $2.0\sim3.5$ were used for evaluation. According to ACCP standard, $51.2\%$ of patients and $31.1\%$ of INR values were within the therapeutic range when average INR and cumulative INR were used, respectively. Applying low intensity INR values of $2.0\sim3.5$, the therapeutic control was achieved in $57.4\%\;and\;90.1\%$, using average INR and total INR, respectively. The incidences of major and minor bleedings were $0.5\%\;and\;26.6\%$, respectively. The incidence of thromboembolism was $0.5\%$. There was no significant difference in terms of complication incidences between INR $2.0\sim2.5\;and\;INR\;2.5\sim3.5$ groups. However, INR values at the time of bleeding were generally high. In conclusion, the evaluation of patients with mechanical heart valve replacement showed low level of therapeutic control with warfarin therapy. This is partially explained by the fact that the physicians at Yonsei University Cardiovascular Center were using lower intensity INR values as a goal than recommended INR. Also, in the near future, systematic anticoagulation service should be implemented at various hospitals in Korea so that patients on anticoagulant therapy can be more closely monitored to be within the recommended INR by ACCP.
