In structures excavated in rock mass, load progressively increases to a level and remains constant during the construction. Rocks display different elastic properties such as Ei and ʋ under different loading conditions and this requires to use the true values of elastic properties for the design of safe structures in rock. Also, rocks will undergo horizontal and vertical deformations depending on the amount of load applied. However, under constant loads, values of Ei and ʋ will vary in time and induce variations in the behavior of the rock mass. In some empirical equations in which deformation modulus of the rock mass is taken into consideration, elastic parameters of intact rock become functions in the equation. Hence, the use of time dependent elastic properties determined under constant loading will yield more reliable results than when only constant elastic properties are used. As well known, rock material will play an important role in the deformation mechanism since the discontinuities will be closed due to the load. In this study, Ei and ʋ values of intact rocks were investigated under different constant loads for certain rocks with high deformation capabilities. The results indicated significant time dependent variations in elastic properties under constant loading conditions. Ei value obtained from deformability test was found to be higher than the Ei value obtained from the constant loading test. This implies that when static values of elastic properties are used, the material is defined as more elastic than the rock material itself. In fact, Ei and ʋ values embedded in empirical equations are not static. Hence, this workattempts to emerge a new understanding in designing of safer structures in rock mass by numerical methods. The use of time-dependent values of Ei and ʋ under different constant loads will yield more accurate results in numerical modeling analysis.

When a concrete structure is subjected to load, its response is both immediate and time dependent. Under sustained load, the deformation of a structure gradually increases with time and eventually may be many time greater than its instantanneous value. The gradual development of strain with time is caused by creep and shrinkage. On this study, to estimate of stress variations on time effects in partially prestressed concrete composite girder bridges, computer program applied Age-adjusted Effective Modulus Method(AEMM) in used.
Time-dependent buckling of embedded straight concrete columns armed with Silicon dioxide($SiO_2$) nano-particles exposed to fire is investigated in the present study for the fire time. The column is simulated mathematically with Timoshenko beam model. The governing mass conservation equations to describe heat and moisture transport in concrete containing free water, water vapor, and dry air in conjunction with the conversion of energy are considered. The characteristics of the equivalent composite are determined using Mori-Tanaka approach. The foundation around the column is simulated with spring and shear layer. Employing nonlinear strains-displacements, energy methods and Hamilton's principal, the governing equations are derived. Differential quadrature method (DQM) is used in order to obtain the critical buckling load and critical buckling time of structure. The influences of volume percent of $SiO_2nano-particles$, geometrical parameters, elastic foundation and concrete porosity are investigated on the time-dependent buckling behaviours of structure. Numerical results indicate that reinforcing the concrete column with $SiO_2nano-particles$, the structure becomes stiffer and the critical buckling load and time increase.

Time-dependent deformation process of concrete was incrementally formulated to take account of the persistent change of creep-inducing stress as well as shrinkage and development of elastic modulus. Three types of experiments were performed including a set of experiments to derive three basic time-dependent equations regarding to shrinkage, creep and development of elastic modulus of concrete, cylindrical concrete specimen with axial reinforcements subjected to a sustained axial load, and RC beam subjected to uniformly distributed load as well as self-weight.

Based on random vibration theory, a procedure for calculating the dynamic response of the tall building to time-dependent random excitation is developed. In this paper, the fluctuating along- wind load is assumed as time-dependent random process described by the time-independent random process with deterministic function during a short duration of time. By deterministic function A(t)=1-exp($-{\beta}t$), the absolute value square of oscillatory function is represented from author's studies. The time-dependent random response spectral density is represented by using the absolute value square of oscillatory function and equivalent wind load spectrum of Solari. Especially, dynamic mean square response of the tall building subjected to fluctuating wind loads was derived as analysis function by the Cauchy's Integral Formula and Residue Theorem. As analysis examples, there were compared the numerical integral analytic results with the analysis fun. results by dynamic properties of the tall uilding.
This work produces a new model of nonlocal thermoelastic nanobeams of temperature-dependent physical properties. A nanobeam is excited by harmonically varying heat and subjected to an exponential decaying time varying load. The analytical solution is obtained by means of Laplace transform method in time domain. Inversions of transformed solutions have been preceded by using calculus of residues. Effects of nonlocal parameter, variability thermal conductivity, varying load and angular frequency of thermal vibration on studied fields of nanobeam are investigated and discussed.
In designing the Prestressed concrete box-girder bridge. dead load, prestressing force, creep and shrinkage of concrete are the main factors which influence the camber and deflection of segmental concrete structure under construction. Among these factors the creep and shrinkage are the functions of the time-dependent property which. therefore, must be considered with time. The prediction model for estimating creep and shrinkage of concrete has been suggested by ACI, CEB/FIP, JSCE and KSCE design code and EMM, AEMM, RCM, IDM and SSM has been suggested for analytical method in consideration of time-dependent characteristics. In this study the creep test was carried out for four different curing ages of concrete which were applied to the Prestressed concrete structure at the construction site, and the results of test were compared with the values of creep prediction proposed by the design code. Also the creep test was performed with step-wise incremental stresses and the results were compared to the analytical values.
Stability of a cylindrical shell subject to a uniform axial compression, which is a power function of time, is examined within the framework of small strain elasto-plasticity. The material of the shell is incompressible and the effect of the elastic unloading is considered. Initially, employing the infinitesimal elastic-plastic deformation theory, the fundamental relations and Donnell type stability equations for a cylindrical shell have been obtained. Then, employing Galerkin's method, those equations have been reduced to a time dependent differential equation with variable coefficient. Finally, for two initial conditions applying a Ritz type variational method, the critical static and dynamic axial loads, the corresponding wave numbers and dynamic factor have been found. Using those results, the effects of the variations of loading parameters and the variations of power of time in the axial load expression as well as the variations of the radius to thickness ratio on the critical parameters of the shells for two initial conditions are also elucidated. Comparing results with those in the literature validates the present analysis.
An analytical-numerical procedure has been presented in this paper to take into account the nonlinear effects of concrete cracking and time-dependent effects of creep and shrinkage in the concrete portion of the continuous composite beams under service load. The procedure is analytical at the element level and numerical at the structural level. The cracked span length beam element consisting of uncracked zone in middle and cracked zones near the ends has been proposed to reduce the computational effort. The progressive nature of cracking of concrete has been taken into account by division of the time into a number of time intervals. Closed form expressions for stiffness matrix, load vector, crack lengths and mid-span deflection of the beam element have been presented in order to reduce the computational effort and bookkeeping. The procedure has been validated by comparison with the experimental and analytical results reported elsewhere and with FEM. The procedure can be readily extended for the analysis of composite building frames where saving in computational effort would be very considerable.
This paper is concerned with the time dependent service load behaviour of prestressed composite tee beams. The effects of creep and shrinkage of the concrete slab are modelled using the age adjusted effective modulus method and a relaxation approach. The tendon strain is determined considering compatibility of deformations and equilibrium of forces between the tendon and the composite tee beam. A parametric study is undertaken to study the influence of various aspects on the stress, strain and deformations of the concrete slab, steel beam and prestressing tendon. The effect of loading type and tendon relaxation has also been considered for various types of prestressing tendon materials. Recommendations are then made in relation to adequate span to depth ratios for varying levels of prestressing force.
