Study on Preemptive Real-Time Scheduling Strategy for Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Most of the tasks in wireless sensor networks (WSN) are requested to run in a real-time way. Neither EDF nor FIFO can ensure real-time scheduling in WSN. A real-time scheduling strategy (RTS) is proposed in this paper. All tasks are divided into two layers and endued diverse priorities. RTS utilizes a preemptive way to ensure hard real-time scheduling. The experimental results indicate that RTS has a good performance both in communication throughput and over-load.

  • In the highway engineering, the performance, quantity and status of machines available for the project have direct impact on the project time. For instance, the status of machines, such as working or in trouble, have great influence on the activity execution. Therefore, while scheduling the project, the project manager always increases the spare machines or prolong the activity time to avoid delaying the project time when some of the machines are in trouble in construction site. However, how many are the spare machines and how long are the prolonged activity time, which are estimated subjectively by the manager. This subjective estimation has been criticized for systematically overestimating or underestimating quantity of the machines and the activity time. In the paper, we propose and prototype a model to simulate the status of the machines in construction site, and then to evaluate the schedule feasibility considering the performance, quantity and statues of the machines involved.

  • 공사관리자는 가용자원을 최대한 합리적으로 사용하고 주어진 공사기간과 예산 범위 내에서 건설 프로젝트를 완료하기 위해 노력하며, 공사기간 내에 프로젝트를 끝내기 위해 바차트나 CPM과 같은 공정표를 활용한다. 제주지역의 소규모 건설회사나 현장에서는 건설공사를 수행하기 위한 도구로 공정관리 전문 소프트웨어보다는 엑셀을 많이 사용하는 것으로 조사되었다. 이는 엑셀이 원가와 연계하여 사용하기 편리하고 공정관리 소프트웨어를 활용할 전문가도 부족하기 때문이다. 대학은 지역의 중소규모 건설회사가 요구하는 공정관리 능력을 가진 인재를 배출하고 있지만 교육의 질적 및 양적 측면에서 다소 부족하다. 지방 국립대 건축공학의 교육과정 조사에 의하면 대부분의 학과는 공정관리과목이나 유사한 과목을 편성하고 있다. 주요 교육내용은 네트웍 공정관리기법에 대한 이해와 공정표 작성으로 이루어져 있다. 공정관리 소프트웨어에 대한 교육과 실습은 일부 대학에서만 이루어지고 있으므로 중소규모 건설현장의 공정관리 전문가를 양성하기 위해서는 바차트 활용과 전문 공정관리 소프트웨어 교육도 필요하다.

  • The critical problem of nurse scheduling in the hospital is determining the day-to -day shift assignments for each nurse for the specified period in a way that satisfies the given requirements of the hospital. As nurse scheduling involves many factors and requirements, manual scheduling requires much time and effort to produce an adequate schedule. A PC - based decision support system, developed in Turbo - C/sup ++/, for nurse scheduling was introduced. The system is composed of 4 sub-systems : 1) Entering basic information for each nursing unit : 2) Generation of an appropriate initial schedule and revised schedule for a given period, maximally satisfying each nurse's duty requests : 3) Provision of variety of statistical information, and 4) Help messages for each modular function. Icons and a mouse are used for easier graphic user interface and reducing the need for typing efforts. This system can help nurses develop quick and easy schedule generation and allow more time for the patient care.

동적계획모형을 이용한 근무형태 결정 (Determination of Work Schedule Type by Dynamic Programming)

  • In this paper we applied dynamic programming to determining work schedule type. In dynamic programming formulation, each day during a planning horizon represents a stage for which a decision is made. The alternatives are given by work schedule types that combine regular time, overtime, additional shift, and so on. In this case, their associated return function is labor cost. The state is defined as the amount of work time allocated to stage 1, stage 2,…, and current stage. A case study for a real manufacturing company was performed to apply dynamic programming to scheduling daily work hours during a week. The case study showed that total cost of our solution derived from dynamic programming decreased by about 6% as compared with the solution obtained from the previous method.

경부고속철도의 표정속도 향상 가능성에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Possiblity of Schedule Speed Improvement for Kyeongbu HSR)

  • The domestic railway has high speed trains as good as those of countries outside Korea, but the schedule speed in the domestic railway, which is calculated by dividing distance to destination by time, is lower than that of overseas trains. The object of this study is the necessity for the improvement of schedule speed in the Kyeongbu High speed railway. This study was conducted with analyzing foreign cases related to the improvement of schedule speed in order to satisfy the increasing traffic demand. The schedule speed against the high speed of railway advanced countries is over 65%, while it is about 50% in the domestic railway. In conclusion, This study confirmed that there are possibilities and plans about the improvement of schedule speed for using TPS analysis in the Kyeongbu High speed railway.

  • Over the past 20 years, Researchers have tried to develop "Integration Model of Cost and Schedule" in construction industry. They suggested various models and techniques, however, it is still required to develop new methodology for AL Form Work in Public Multi-Housing Projects. Accordingly, this research focused on measuring quantity take-offs of on-going projects and analysing the basic process of using the resources(Labor, Material, Plant) related to cost and time data. There are 3 steps of this research : 1) The literature review of previous studies about Integration Model of Cost and Schedule was conducted. 2) Model for integration between cost and schedule was developed. 3) the accuracy of developed model was verified. The results are expected to improve in integrated managing the cost and schedule data of AL form work.

A Development of Nurse Scheduling Model Based on Q-Learning Algorithm

  • In this paper, We focused the issue of creating a socially problematic nurse schedule. The nurse schedule should be prepared in consideration of three shifts, appropriate placement of experienced workers, the fairness of work assignment, and legal work standards. Because of the complex structure of the nurse schedule, which must reflect various requirements, in most hospitals, the nurse in charge writes it by hand with a lot of time and effort. This study attempted to automatically create an optimized nurse schedule based on legal labor standards and fairness. We developed an I/O Q-Learning algorithm-based model based on Python and Web Application for automatic nurse schedule. The model was trained to converge to 100 by creating an Fairness Indicator Score(FIS) that considers Labor Standards Act, Work equity, Work preference. Manual nurse schedules and this model are compared with FIS. This model showed a higher work equity index of 13.31 points, work preference index of 1.52 points, and FIS of 16.38 points. This study was able to automatically generate nurse schedule based on reinforcement Learning. In addition, as a result of creating the nurse schedule of E hospital using this model, it was possible to reduce the time required from 88 hours to 3 hours. If additional supplementation of FIS and reinforcement Learning techniques such as DQN, CNN, Monte Carlo Simulation and AlphaZero additionally utilize a more an optimized model can be developed.

  • Capacity planning plays an important role not only for master production plan but also for facility or layout design in shipbuilding. Product work breakdown structure, attributes of production resources, and production method or process data are associated in order to make the discrete event simulation model of shipyard layout plan. The production amount of each process and the process time is assumed to be stochastic. Based on the stochastic discrete event simulation model, the production capacity of each facility in shipyard is estimated. The stochastic model of product arrival time, process time and transferring time is introduced for each process. Also, the production capacity is estimated for the assumed master production schedule.

집합분할모형을 이용한 운항승무원의 승무경로 일정계획 (Cockpit Crew Scheduling using Set Partitioning Problem)

  • Efficient crew scheduling for cockpit crew is important in airline industry due to operational safety and cost associated with the flight duty time. Because of complexity of regulations imposed to the cockpit crew. it is complicated to generate an efficient schedule. Schedule of cockpit crew can be generated through two steps; selecting of flight patterns. and scheduling of them to the specific time horizon. Heuristic method is developed and applied with massive data in a limited time of computation. A set of flight patterns is selected from all possible flight patterns. which are generated by composing the flight leg based on regulations. by using the set partitioning problem with objective function of oversea stay cost. The selected set of flight patterns found at the first step is allocated to 4 week crew schedule to minimize the variance of total fight time assigned to each crew. The crew schedules obtained are evaluated and compared with the ones currently used in one of major airline company.
