  • This paper presents the effects of rotor time constant variation and the on-line tuning algorithm of the rotor time constant. If the value of the rotor time constant is set incorrectly, the IFOC (Indirect Field Oriented Control)scheme exhibits deteriorated performance according to the wrong slip command. These variation effects of the rotor time constant are caused by the slip calculator where it is known that the rotor time constant play an important role in the aligned rotor flux. Using the two torque angles (stationary torque angle, rotating torque angle), the variation of the rotor time constant is identified, and the rotor time constant of the controller is tuned to the proper value of the machine. As the result, with the proposed algorithm, the dynamics of the deteriorated IFOC system, where the rotor time constant is varied, is improved. For the purpose of the validity of this proposed algorithm, the computer simulations and the experiments have been performed and the explanation of the results is presented. • This paper presents the effects of the time delay on the stability of the haptic system that includes a virtual wall and a first-order-hold method. The model of a haptic system includes a haptic device model with a mass and a damper, a virtual wall model, a first-order-hold model and a time delay model. In this paper, the time delay is considered as the computational time delay that is assumed to be as much as the sampling time. As the time delay increases, the maximal available stiffness of a virtual wall model is reduced reversely. The relation among the time delay and the maximum available stiffness, the mass and the damper of the haptic device are analyzed using the MATLAB simulation.

  • This experiment was performed to investigate whether 50% ethanol extracts of the combined-preparation of Longanae Arilus, Chrysanthemi Flos, Zizyphi Fructus and Ginseng Radix alba (CPE) has hypnotic effects and/or enhances pentobarbital-induced sleeping time. Locomotor activity was evaluated using a ambulometer of tilting-type. The sedative-hypnotic effects were evaluated by measuring the sleeping onset time and sleeping time in pentobarbital-treated mice 30 min. after oral administration of CPE and muscimol. The intracellular $Cl^-$ concentration of cerebellar granule cells was estimated using $Cl^-$ sensitive fluorescence probe N-(ethoxycarbonylmethyl)-6-methoxyquinolinium (MQAE). CPE (150 mg/kg) decreased the locomotor activity, but CPE itself did not induce sleep. However, CPE reduced sleeping onset and prolonged sleeping time induced by pentobarbital (42 mg/kg). In addition, CPE (2 ${\mu}g/ml$) and pentobarbital (2.5 ${\mu}M$) itself did not affect on the chloride influx in primary cultured cerebellar granule cells, but the combination of CPE and pentobarbital (2.5 ${\mu}M$) increased the chloride influx onto the cells. In conclusion, it is suggested that CPE might augment pentobarbital-induced sleep through the increase of chloride influx.

  • Due to the time-dependent properties of materials, structures, and loads, accurate time-dependent effects analysis and precise construction controls are very significant for rational analysis and design and saving project cost. Elevation control is an important part of the time-dependent construction control in supertall structures. Since supertall structures have numerous floors, heavy loads, long construction times, demanding processes, and are typically located in the soft coastal soil areas, both the time-dependent features of superstructure and settlement are very obvious. By using the time-dependent coupling effect analysis method, this paper compares Shanghai Tower's vertical deformation calculation and elevation control scheme, considering foundation differential settlement. The results show that the foundation differential settlement cannot be ignored in vertical deformation calculations and elevation control for supertall structures. The impact of foundation differential settlement for elevation compensation and pre-adjustment length can be divided into direct and indirect effects. Meanwhile, in the engineering practice of elevation control for supertall structures, it is recommended to adopt the multi-level elevation control method with relative elevation control and design elevation control, without considering the overall settlement in the construction process.

  • Objective: This study investigated the double mediating effects of maternal and paternal parenting stress and the regularity of children's daily routines in the association between maternal and paternal parenting time and children's self-regulation. Methods: A total of 235 preschool children aged 4-5 years and their mothers and fathers participated in the study. Parenting time, parenting stress, and children's self-regulation were assessed using both mothers' and fathers' reports, but the regularity of daily routines was assessed using mothers' reports only. The data was analyzed using SEM in Mplus 8.2. Results: Mothers' and fathers' parenting stress appeared to have cross-spousal mediated effects of their parenting time on children's self-regulation. Higher levels of mothers' and fathers' parenting time predicted higher levels of children's self-regulation through only a lower level of mothers' parenting stress and a higher level of the regularity of daily routines. Conclusion/Implications: Findings indicated that parents' parenting time played a significant protective factor in reducing parenting stress and increasing the regularity of daily routines among family members. This cross-spousal influence on parenting process can inform the development of prevention programs and parenting education to promote self-regulation skills among preschool children.

  • This research introduces a trip generation model reflecting time-series effects derived from a panel analysis with the data collected from the national household trip surveys conducted in 1996, 2002 and 2006. The existing methods are unable to reflect time-series effects from the change of socioeconomic conditions because the parameters applied to the model were basically from the base year of study - the parameter values were unchanged. This study proposes a new trip generation model developed through a panel analysis performed with the data collected from the last three national household trip surveys. From the results, it was found that the number of school trips increases and that the number of shopping trips decreases as time passes. The results showed that there are time-series effects affecting in trip generation.

  • In inverters, time delays are inserted in the switching signals to prevent the dc lind shortage. This causes detrimental effects on the performance of the inverters, that is, the fundamental voltage drop and the generation of low order harmonics. This paper derives simple formula to describe the time delay effects in PWM inverters, where the effects may become significant because of relatively high switching frequencies. To compensate the tice delay effects, this paper presents two methods which are suitable for sinusoidal PWM and memory-based PWM respectively. Both are simple, easy to implement, and are shown to be effective, through the experiments, in improving the output waveform of PWM inverters.

  • Rhizoma Rehmanniae Preparata is a Chinese herbal tonic. The hemopoietic effects of Rhizoma Rehmanniae Preparata(4-time steamed Jihwang, 4-time steamed double dose Jihwang, 8-time steamed Jihwang, 8-time steamed double dose Jihwang) were examined using in vitro rat(SD) model. Cyclophosphamide(150 mg/kg) was injected into experimental groups and control group to induce bone marrow suppression. Oral administration of Rhizoma Rehmanniae Preparata suppressed hormone levels of $T_4\;and\;T_3$. Reticulocyte count was increased by the bone marrow suppression.

  • The form accuracy of parts has become an important parameter. Therefore, not only dimensional tolerance but also geometric tolerances are used in the design stage to satisfy the required quality and functions of parts. But the information on the machining conditions, which can satisfy the assigned geometric tolerance in do sign, is insufficient. The objectives of this research are to study the effects of the grinding parameters such as traverse speed, work speed, depth of cut, and dwell time on the after-ground workpiece shape, and to find out the major parameters among them The results are as follows; The effects of work speed and depth of cut on the workpiece shape are negligible compared with the effect of traverse speed. These is an optimal dwell time depending on the traverse speed. The optimal dwell time is decreasing as the traverse speed is increasing.

  • In this paper we investigated effects of the presentation time interval on a subjective evaluation test of loudness. We carried out paired comparison experiments of pure tones loudness with changing the time interval of the comparison. As the results, two characteristic effects were obtained. The difference limen of the loudness was almost proportional to the time interval in below 10 s and was almost the same value of 1.5 dB in above 10 s. On the other hand, the effect of the presentation order was smallest at the time interval of about 5 s.
