  • The effect of propionylpromazine, acepromazine maleate, ketamine HCI, xylazine HCI, and pentobarbital sodium as chemical restraint drugs on the transit time of barium sulfate through the stomach and duodenum in 24 healthy cats was investigated. In the present study, propionylpromazine, acepromazine maleate, and ketamine HCI did not reveal significant effect on the gastroduodenal transit time, but xylazine HCI and pentobarbital sodium pro-longed the gastroduodenal transit time markedly compared with control group. Therefore it is concluded that propionylpromazine, acepromazine maleate, and ketamine HCI could be selected for upper gastrointestinal radiographs. but xylazine HCI and pentobarbital sodium should be avoided.

  • This paper describes transient responses of a very floating structure subjected to dynamic load induced by waves. A time domain method is applied to the hydroelastic problems for this purpose. The method is based on source-dipole and FEM scheme and on Newmark $\beta$ method to pursuit time step process taking advantage of memory effect. The present procedure is carried out to analyze hydroelastic responses in regular waves and impact responses due to dropping aircraft.

  • The effect of deposition time in arc ion plating on surface properties of the TiN-coated SM45C steel is presented in this paper. The surface roughness, micro-particle, micro-hardness, coated thickness, atomic distribution of TiN, and adhesion strength are measured for various deposition times. It has been shown that the deposition time has a considerable effect on the micro-hardness, the coated thickness, and the atomic distribution of TiN of the SM45C steels but that it has little influence on the surface roughness and adhesion strength.

  • Compliance effect consideration method for real-time multibody vehicle dynamics is proposed using quasi-static analysis. The multibody vehicle model without bush elements is used based on the subsystem synthesis method which provides real-time computation on the multibody vehicle model. Reaction forces are computed in the suspension subsystem. According to deformation from the quasi-static analysis using reaction forces and bush stiffness, suspension hardpoint locations and suspension linkage orientation are changed. To validate the proposed method, quarter car simulations of McPherson strut and multilink suspension subsystems are performed. Full car bump run simulations and fish hook handling test simulations are also carried out comparing with the ADAMS vehicle model with bush elements. CPU times are also measured to see the real-time capabilities of the proposed method.

  • In this study, ball milling process was applied to reduce the particle size of bio-material down to submicron size. The material used was Ibuprofen. The ball milling was performed at low temperature of about $-180^{\circ}C$. The effect of processing conditions (milling time, milling speed) on the particle size was determined. The results showed that the degree of crystallite of Ibuprofen was slightly reduced by the ball milling process. The results also showed that the size of Ibuprofen was significantly reduced by the ball milling process. The effect of milling time was significant within the milling time of six hours while it was small thereafter.

  • We investigated the effect of polarity of polyimide(PI) film in amorphous (a) - twisted nematic (TN) - liquid crystal display(LCD) for response time and viewing angle. We found that the domain size of a-TN-LCD on PI film with high polarity is smaller then medium polarity. It is considered that the electro-optical characteristics are strongly dependent on this domain in a-TN-LCD. We observed the response time of a-TN-LCD on PI film with high polarity is slow as comparing to PI film with medium polarity. We suggest that the response time of a-TN-LCD is attributed surface effect between the LCs and the substrates.

  • This paper presents a method to predict dynamic responses of floating bodies in the time domain. Because of the frequency-dependence of the radiation wave forces, the memory effect must be taken into account when the responses are evaluated in the time domain. Although the formulations firstly developed by Cummins (1962) have been well-known for this purpose, the effective numerical procedure has not been established yet. This study employs FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) algorithm to evaluate the memory effect function, and the equations of motion of an integro-differential type are solved by Newmark-β method. Numerical examples for a truncated circular cylinder have indicated the effectiveness of the proposed numerical procedure.

  • It is important that the teacher, in an inquiry learning gives his student sufficient thinking time regarding the teacher's question and the child's response. In an inquiry loaming, it is essential that children should have an enough time to understand question fully and find out correct answers. The purpose of this study is to investigate an effect of science teaching, when Wait-time theory is applied, on the scholastic and thinking ability, thinking trend and scientific attitudes of elementary children. We could draw several meaningful conclusions from the study concerned with improving the effect of science teaching that changed from teacher centered teaching to children centered erie.

  • A modular multilevel converter is widely adapted for a high-voltage direct current power transmission system. This study proposes a design methodology for a novel digital control that mitigates the negative effects caused by time delay, including communication transport delay for a modular multilevel converter. The modeling and negative effect of time delay are analyzed theoretically in a frequency domain, and its compensation methodology based on an inverse model is described fully with practical considerations. The proposed methodology is verified through several simulation results using a modular 21-level converter system.

  • A phenomenon which is seen in some of the manufacturing systems and production planning is chaos and the butterfly effect. The butterfly effect points out that in case of the presence of nonlinear relations in system and incorrect estimation of initial values of variables, the error in the estimates of system state will be intensified, and after a while there will be a large distance between available state of system and reality. Using mathematical means and computer simulation, we have tried to demonstrate that in a production system the numerical combination of Cycle Time (CT), Adjustment Time between existing and desired Work In Progress (WIP), and Adjustment Time between current and desired inventory can lead to chaos and butterfly effect in the behavior of the inventory state variable. Our paper concludes with a discussion of a hypothesis that emerged from this research.
