  • This paper presents a time-domain approach for analyzing nonlinear random vibrations of long-span suspended cables under transversal wind. A consistent continuous model of the cable, fully accounting for geometrical nonlinearities inherent in cable behavior, is adopted. The effects of spatial correlation are properly included by modeling wind velocity fluctuation as a random function of time and of a single spatial variable ranging over cable span, namely as a one-variate bi-dimensional (1V-2D) random field. Within the context of a Galerkin's discretization of the equations governing cable motion, a very efficient Monte Carlo-based technique for second-order analysis of the response is proposed. This procedure starts by generating sample functions of the generalized aerodynamic loads by using the spectral decomposition of the cross-power spectral density function of wind turbulence field. Relying on the physical meaning of both the spectral properties of wind velocity fluctuation and the mode shapes of the vibrating cable, the computational efficiency is greatly enhanced by applying a truncation procedure according to which just the first few significant loading and structural modal contributions are retained.

  • The objective of this paper is to propose a new efficient technique for the estimation of time-delay parameters using wavelet theory and third-order cumulants, yielding good performance even in the case of low SNR. In particular, band-limited non-Gaussian signals with non-zero skewness and spatially correlated Gaussian noises are considered here. The approach is based on the fact that the effects of spatially correlated Gaussian noises on time-delay estimation can be reduced by using the projection sequences (based on the redundant wavelet decomposition) of given measurements in the higher-order cumulant domain. Finally, the performance of the proposed approach is demonstrated using simulations.

  • In this paper, the unsteady Stokes problem is considered and also the pressure-correction method for the problem is described. At a fixed time level, we reduce the problem to two symmetric positive definite problems which depend on a time step parameter. Linear systems that arise from the problems are large, sparse, symmetric, positive definite and ill-conditioned as the time step tends to zero. Preconditioned problems based on an additive Schwarz method for solving the symmetric positive definite problems are derived and preconditioners are defined implicitly. It will be shown that the rate of convergence is independent of the mesh parameters as well as the time step size.

  • In this paper, we develop a multichannel blind source separation algorithm based on a beamspace transform and the multichannel non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) method. The NMF algorithm is a famous algorithm which is used to solve the source separation problems. In this paper, we consider a beamspace-time-frequency domain data model for multichannel NMF method, and enhance the conventional method using a beamspace transform. Our decomposition algorithm is applied to audio source separation, using a dataset from the international Signal Separation Evaluation Campaign 2010 (SiSEC 2010) for evaluation.

  • Small angle light scattering (SALS) and field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) have been used to investigate the light scattering patterns with time evolved during water vapor quenching (relative humidity of 53 (${\pm}3)%$ at $26^{\circ}C$ of polysulfone (PSf)/NMP/Alcohol and chlorinated poly(vinyl chloride) (CPVC)/THF/Alcohol, respective1y. Time dependence of the position of the light scattering maximum was observed at PSf dope solutions, confirming spinodal decomposition (SD), while CPVC dope solutions showed a decreased scattered light intensity with an increased q-value, indicating nucleation & growth (NG). For the each system, domain growth rate in the intermediate and late stage of phase separation decreased with increasing the number of carbon of alcohol used as additive (non-solvent). Also, in the early stage for SD, the scattering intensity with time was in accordance with Cahn's linear theory of spinodal decomposition, regardless of types of non-solvent additive. Also, the size scales obtained by SALS were mutually compared to domain sizes gained by FE-SEM measurement. These observations of scattering pattern were much clearly observed for the 20PSf/70NMP/10n-butanol (w/w%) and agreed with the theoretical predictions for scattering patterns of each stage like the early, the intermediate, and the late stage of SD type phase separation. As the scattering maximum was observed at the larger angles (larger q) in the order of n-butanol > n-propanol > methanol > no alcohol, the pore size of final morphology decreased.

  • The purpose of this paper is to recognize the feature points of ECG and human pulse -which signal shows the electric and physical characteristics of heart respectively- using wavelet transform. Wavelet transform is proper method to analyze a signal in time-frequency domain. In the process of wavelet decomposition and reconstruction of ECG and human pulse signal, we removed the noises of signal and recognized the feature points of signal using some of decomposed component of signal. We obtained the result of recognition rate that is estimated about 95.45$\%$ in case of QRS complex, 98.08$\%$ in case of S point and P point and 92.81$\%$ in case of C point. And we computed diagnosis parameters such as RRI, U-time and E-time.

  • Generators are the most complex and expensive single element in a power system. The generator protection relays should to minimize damage during fault states and must be designed for maximum reliability. A conventional CDR(Current Differential Relaying) technique based on DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) filter have the disadvantages that the time information can lead to loss in the process of converting the signal from the time domain to the frequency domain. A WT(Wavelet transform) and WT analysis is known that it is possible with the local analysis of the fault and transient signal. In this paper, to overcome the defects in the DFT process, an application of WT for fault detection of generator is presented. This paper describes an selection of mother Wavelet to detect faults of generator. Using collected data from the fault simulation with ATPdraw, we analyzed the several mother Wavelet through the course of MLD(multi-level decomposition) using MATLAB software. Finally, it can be seen that the proposed technique using detail coefficient of Daubechies level 2 which can be fault discriminant of generator.

  • This paper presents the application method of a wavelet theory for identification of the structural dynamic properties of a bridge, which is based on the ambient vibration signal caused by the traffic loadings. The method utilizes the time-scale decomposition of the ambient vibration signal , i . e. the continuous wavelet transform using the Morlet wavelet is used to decompose the ambient vibration signal into the time-scale domain. The applicability of the proposed approach is verified through the reduced scale bridge and automobile system in the laboratory. The results of verification shows that the use of the Morlet wavelet to identify the structural dynamic properties is reasonable and practicable.

  • The numerical analyses of the complicated flows are widely attempted in these days. Because of the enormous demanding memory and calculation time, parallel processing is used for these problems. In order to obtain calculation efficiency, it is important to choose proper domain decomposition technique and numerical algorithm. In this research we enhanced the efficiency of the CFDS code developed by ADD, using parallel computation and newly developed numerical algorithms. For the huge amount of data transfer between blocks non-blocking method is used, and newly developed data transfer algorithm is used for non-aligned block interface. Recently developed RoeM scheme is adpoted as a spatial difference method, and AF-ADI and LU-SGS methods are used as a time integration method to enhance the convergence of the code. Analyses of the flows around the ONERA M6 wing and the high angle of attack missile configuration are performed to show the efficiency improvement.

  • This paper presents a newly implemented parallel finite element procedure for contact-impact problems. Three sub-algorithms are includes in the proposed parallel contact-impact procedure, such as a parallel Belytschko-Lin-Tsay (BLT) shell element generation, a parallel explicit time integration scheme, and a parallel contact search algorithm based on the master slave slide-line algorithm. The underlying focus of the algorithms is on its effectiveness and efficiency for inclusion in future finite element systems on parallel computers. Throughout this research, a prototype code, named GT-PARADYN, is developed on the IBM SP2, a distributed-memory computer. Some numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the timing results of the procedure, discussing the accuracy and efficiency of the code.
