  • This paper proposes a block-type classification based image binarization for the implementation of the low-power feature extraction algorithm. The proposed method can be implemented with threshold value re-use technique approach when the image divided into $64{\times}64$ macro blocks size and calculating the threshold value for each block type only once. The algorithm is validated based on quantitative results that only a threshold value change rate of up to 9% occurs within the same image/block type. Existing algorithms should compute the threshold value for 64 blocks when the macro block is divided by $64{\times}64$ on the basis of $512{\times}512$ images, but all suggestions can be made only once for best cases where the same block type is printed, and for the remaining 63 blocks, the adaptive threshold calculation can be reduced by only performing a block type classification process. The threshold calculation operation is performed five times when all block types occur, and only the block type separation process can be performed for the remaining 59 blocks, so 93% adaptive threshold calculation operation can be reduced.

  • Fault diagnosis plays an important role in the performance and safe operation of many modern engineering plants. This paper investigates the problem of fault detection using neural networks in dynamic systems. A general framework for constructing a nonlinear fault detection scheme for nonlinear dynamic systems containing modeling uncertaintly is proposed. The main idea behind the proposed approach is to monitor the physical system with an off -line learning neural network and then to approximate the upper and lower thresholds of acceleration of the nominal system with the model-based threshold(ThMB) method, The performance of the proposed fault detection scheme is investigated through simulations of a pendulum with uncertainty.

  • In this paper, we propose an optimal thresholding method for the voxel coloring in the reconstruction of a 3D shape. Our purposed method is a new approach to resolve the trade-off error of the threshold value on determining the photo-consistency in the conventional method. Optimal thresholding value is decided to compare the surface voxel of photo-consistency with inside voxel on the optic ray of the center camera. As iterating the process of the voxels, the threshold value is approached to the optimal value for the individual surface voxel. And also, graph cut method is reduced to the surface noise on eliminating neighboring voxel. To verify the proposed algorithm, we simulated in the virtual and real environment. It is advantaged to speed up and accuracy of a 3D face reconstruction by applying the methods of optimal threshold and graph cut as compare with conventional algorithms.

  • This paper describes the pixel of AMOLED(act ive matrix organic light emitting diode) driving circuit by poly-sl technology. The area per pixel is 278um$\times$278um in 120$\times$160(2.2 inch) Driving the OLEDS with active matrix leads to the lower voltage operation, the lower peak pixel currents and the display with much greater efficiency and brightness The role of the active matrix is to provide a constant current throughout the entire frame time and is eliminating the high currents encountered In the passive matrix approach, This design can support the high resolutions expected by the consumer because the current variation specification is norestricted. The pixel has been designed driving TFT threshold voltage cancellation circuit and wide aperture ratio circuit that communizes 4 pixel. The test simulation results and layout are 11% per threshold-current var Eat ion and 12.5% the aperture ratio of increase.

  • This paper presents a new approach for the detection of seismic events using accumulated changes on time-frequency domain and variable threshold. To detect seismic P-wave arrivals with rapidness and accuracy, it is that the changes on the time and the frequency domains are simultaneously used. Their changes are parameters appropriated to reflect characteristics of earthquakes over moderate magnitude(${\geq}$ magnitude 4.0) and microearthquakes. In addition, adaptively controlled threshold values can prevent false P-wave detections due to low SNR. We tested our method on real earthquakes those have various magnitudes. The proposed algorithm gives a good detection performance and it is also comparable to STA/LTA algorithm in computational complexity. Computer simulation results shows that the proposed algorithm is superior to the conventional popular algorithm (STA/LTA) in the seismic P-wave detection.

  • The analytical transport model in subthreshold regime for double gate MOSFET has been presented to analyze the short channel effects such as subthreshold swing, threshold voltage roll-off and drain induced barrier lowering. The present approach includes the quantum tunneling of carriers through the source-drain barrier. Poisson equation is used for modeling thermionic emission current, and Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin approximations are applied for modeling quantum tunneling current. This model has been used to investigate the subthreshold operations of double gate MOSFET having the gate length of the nanometer range with ultra thin gate oxide and channel thickness under sub-20nm. Compared with results of two dimensional numerical simulations, the results in this study show good agreements with those for subthreshold swing and threshold voltage roll-off. Note the short channel effects degrade due to quantum tunneling, especially in the gate length of below 10nm, and DGMOSFETs have to be very strictly designed in the regime of below 10nm gate length since quantum tunneling becomes the main transport mechanism in the subthreshold region.

  • When the Hough transform is applied to identify an instance of a given model, the output is typically a histogram of votes cast by a set of image features into a parameter space. The next step is to threshold the histogram of counts to hypothesize a given match. The question is "What is a reasonable choice of the threshold?" In a standard implementation of the Hough transform, the threshold is selected heuristically, e.g., some fraction of the highest cell count. Setting the threshold too low can give rise to a false alarm of a given shape(Type I error). On the other hand, setting the threshold too high can result in mis-detection of a given shape(Type II error). In this paper, we derive two conditional probability functions of cell counts in the accumulator array of the generalized Hough transform(GHough), that can be used to select a scientific threshold at the peak detection stage of the Ghough.

  • The Delay Threshold-based Priority Queueing (DTPQ) scheme has been shown useful for scheduling both real-time (RT) and non-real-time (NRT) service traffic in mobile broadband wireless access (MBWA) systems. The overall system capacity can be maximized subject to their QoS requirement by the DTPQ scheme, which takes the urgency of the RT service into account only when their head-of-line (HOL) packet delays exceed a given delay threshold. In practice, the optimum delay threshold must be configured under the varying service scenarios and a corresponding traffic load, e.g., the number of RT and NRTusers in the system. In this paper, we propose an adaptive version of DTPQ scheme, which updates the delay threshold by taking the urgency and channel conditions of RT service users into account. By evaluating the proposed approach in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access/time division duplex (OFDM/TDD)-based broadband mobile access system, it has been found that our adaptive scheme significantly improves the system capacity as compared to the existing DTPQ scheme with a fixed delay threshold.

  • This paper proposes a selectively cumulative sum(S-CUSUM) control chart for detecting shifts in the process mean. The basic idea of the S-CUSUM chart is to accumulate previous samples selectively in order to increase the sensitivity. The S-CUSUM chart employs a threshold limit to determine whether to accumulate previous samples or not. Consecutive samples with control statistics out of the threshold limit are to be accumulated to calculate a standardized control statistic. If the control statistic falls within the threshold limit, only the next sample is to be used. During the whole sampling process, the S-CUSUM chart produces an 'out-of-control' signal either when any control statistic falls outside the control limit or when L -consecutive control statistics fall outside the threshold limit. The number L is a decision variable and is called a 'control length'. A Markov chain approach is employed to describe the S-CUSUM sampling process. Formulae for the steady state probabilities and the Average Run Length(ARL) during an in-control state are derived in closed forms. Some properties useful for designing statistical parameters are also derived and a statistical design procedure for the S-CUSUM chart is proposed. Comparative studies show that the proposed S-CUSUM chart is uniformly superior to the CUSUM chart or the Exponentially Weighted Moving Average(EWMA) chart with respect to the ARL performance.

  • This paper presents a new approach for underwater image analysis using the bi-dimensional empirical mode decomposition (BEMD) technique and the phase congruency information. The BEMD algorithm, fully unsupervised, it is mainly applied to texture extraction and image filtering, which are widely recognized as a difficult and challenging machine vision problem. The phase information is the very stability feature of image. Recent developments in analysis methods on the phase congruency information have received large attention by the image researchers. In this paper, the proposed method is called the EP model that inherits the advantages of the first two algorithms, so this model is suitable for processing underwater image. Moreover, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is presented in this paper to solve the problem that the threshold is greatly affected by personal experience when underwater image edge detection is performed using the EP model. The EP images are computed using combinations of the Canny detector parameters, and the binaryzation image results are generated accordingly. The ideal EP edge feature extractive maps are estimated using correspondence threshold which is optimized by ROC analysis. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is able to avoid the operation error caused by manual setting of the detection threshold, and to adaptively set the image feature detection threshold. The proposed method has been proved to be accuracy and effectiveness by the underwater image processing examples.
