Novel Average Value Model for Faulty Three-Phase Diode Rectifier Bridges

  • Rectifiers are widely used in industrial applications. Although detailed models of rectifiers are usually used to evaluate their performance, they are complex and time-consuming. Therefore, the Average Value Model (AVM) has been introduced to meet the demand for a simple and accurate model. This type of rectifier modeling can be used to simplify the simulations of large systems. The AVM of diode rectifiers has been an area of interest for many electrical engineers. However, healthy diode rectifiers are only considered for average value modeling. By contrast, faults occur frequently on diodes, which eventually cause the diodes to open-circuit. Therefore, it is essential to model bridge rectifiers under this faulty condition. Indeed, conventional AVMs are not appropriate or accurate for faulty rectifiers. In addition, they are significantly different in modeling. In this paper, a novel application of the parametric average value of a three-phase line-commutated rectifier is proposed in which one diode of the rectifier is considered open-circuited. In order to evaluate the proposed AVM, it is compared with experimental and simulation results for the application of a brushless synchronous generator field. The results clearly demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed model.

새로운 영상전류 주입법에 의한 다이오드 정류기의 고조파 저감 (Harmonic Reduction of Diode Rectifiers by a New Zero-Sequence Current Injection Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 영상고조파 주입법을 사용하여 3상 다이오드 정류기의 입력전류를 개선하는 새로운 방식의 고조파 저감기술을 제안한다. 3고조파 주입을 근간으로 하는 본 방식은 다이오드 정류기의 상측과 하측의 전류를 독립적으로 제어하기 위하여 두 대의 단상 반파 인버터와 두 대의 단상 변압기로 구성되어져 있다. 이렇게 만들어진 영상전류는 zigzag 변압기에 의해서 다이오드 정류기의 상측과 하측으로 주입이 되어진다. 이 결과 3상 다이오드 정류기의 입력전류는 순수한 정현파 전류가 된다. 본 방식의 타당성을 1.5kVA 시작품의 실험을 통하여 입증하였다.

  • A technique to suppress the low frequency ripple voltage of the DC output in three phase buck diode rectifiers is presented in this paper. The proposed pulse frequency modulation methods and duty ratio modulation methods are employed to regulate the output voltage of the buck diode rectifiers and guarantee zero-current -switching(ZCS) of the switch over the wide load range The proposed control methods used in this paper provide generally good performance such as low THD of the input line current and unity power factor. IN addition control methods can be effectively used to suppress the low frequency ripple voltage appeared in the dc output voltage. The harmonic injection technique illustrates its validity and effectiveness through the simulations.

  • In conventional three-phase rectifiers, it was necessary to use a transformer to obtain low output voltage. In this paper, we propose a characteristic experimental of three-phase diode rectifiers circuit that achieves low voltage by using a very simple circuit configuration that does not have a transformer and does not need any complex control. We also describe the operation principle of the proposed circuit, and der?ive a theoretical formula for its current waveform. On the basis these theoretical values with experimentally obtained input output current characteristics, current amplification factor, and output voltage characteristics, allowed us to confirm the soundness of our theoretical analyses.

  • This paper presents an improved three-phase PFC power rectifier with a three-phase diode rectifier cascaded four-switch boost converter. Its operating principle contains the operating principle of two conventional three-phase PFC power rectifiers: one switch boost converter type and a two switch boost converter type. The operating characteristics of the four switch boost converter type three-phase PFC power rectifier are evaluated from a practical point of view, being compared with one switch boost converter type and two switch boost converter topologies.

  • Two new schemes of three-phase rectifier using softing switching methods are introduced for the input power factor correction. These three-phase rectifiers are employed the zero voltage switching for the parallel resonant and zero current switching for the series resonant AC link type rectifiers. The dynamic modeling and discontinuous integral cycle mode control technique are also presented. With the proposed circuits and control technique, the high power factor can be obtained.

  • 본 논문에서는 3상 강압형 다이오드 정류기에서 출력전압의 저주파 리플 전압을 감소시키기 위한 새로운 제어기법을 제안한다. 제안한 펄스 주파수 변조 기법은 강압형 다이오드 정류기의 출력전압과 넓은 부하 범위에 대한 주 스위치의 영전류 스위칭을 보장하기 위해 적용된다. 본 논문에서 적용된 펄스 주파수 변조 기법은 일반적으로 입력전류의 낮은 고조파의 단위 역률의 장점을 지니고 있다. 또한 출력전압에서 보여진 저주파 리플전압을 감소시키기 위해 효과적으로 사용되어진다. 제안된 제어기법을 자세하게 설명하며 그 타당성을 검증하기 위해 시뮬레인션 및 실험을 통하여 검증한다.

  • In this paper, The characteristic of Harmonic spectrum is studied for generally used three-phase diode rectifier. and filter design criteria is showen in the sense of THD, DPF, and PF. As the becoming of Automative and informative era, the demand of critical and stable control becomes more and more important. But much EMI emissions are generated for more critical and stable control in power electronic system these EMI emissions can be measured using LISN(Line Impedance Stabilization Network). So we are to investigate the behavior of Conducted EMI emission in Diode Rectifiers using LISN in frequency domain.

  • A technique to suppress the low frequency ripple voltage of the DC output voltage in three-phase buck diode rectifiers is presented. A pulse frequency modulation method is employed to regulate the output voltage of the rectifier and guarantee zero-current switching of the switch over the wide operating range. The pulse frequency control method used in this paper shows generally good performance such as low THD of the input line current and unity power factor. In addition, the pulse frequency method can be effectively used to suppress the low frequency voltage ripple appeared in the dc output voltage. The proposed technique illustrates its validity and effectiveness through the respective simulations and experiments.
