A Study on the Characteristics of Automatic Flatness Control System for Cold Rolling (냉각압연 가공용 자동 형상제어장치의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Flatness of cold rolled strip is vital to the quality of the product and productivity of the mill. Therefore, in recent year requirement for flatness control in strip rolling have become increasingly severe. The necessity for more accurate automatic gauge control and automatic flatness control(AFC) has increased by customer's requirement for cold rolled steel sheets with thinner gauge and better flatness quality. In this paper, the performance and functions of AFC system installed on the 4 hi-reversing mill has been investigated under actual conditions. The test results are as follows : The more strip thickness is thick, the smaller the I-value. The I-value is a strain measured by stressometer. Complex distributions of strip tension are controlled to remove not only a quarter buckle but also a simple center wave and edge wave. The defects caused by poor flatness have been drastically decreased. And a proper coolant temperature for work roll cooling system on the AFC system is about $50~55^{\circ}C$.

DETORQUE FORCE OF TiN-COATED ABUTMENT SCREW WITH VARIOUS COATING THICKNESS AFTER REPEATED CLOSING AND OPENING

  • Statement of problem. When TiN coating is applied to the abutment screw, occurrence of greater preload and prevention of the screw loosening could be expected due to decrease of frictional resistance. However, the proper thickness of TiN coating on abutment screw has not been yet reported. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to find out the appropriate TiN coating thickness by evaluating the detorque force and the surface change of titanium abutment screw with various TiN coating thickness. Material and methods. 1. Material Thirty five non-coated abutment screws were prepared for TiN coating. TiN coatings were prepared by Arc ion plating method. Depending on the coating deposition time(CDT), experimental groups were divided into 6 groups(CDT 30min, 60min, 90min, 120min, 150min, 180min) and those of 1 group was not coated as a control group. Each group was made up of 5 abutment screws. 2. Methods FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscoper) and EDX(Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy) were used to observe the surface of the abutment screw. Electric scales was used to measure the weight of the abutment screw after the repeated closing and opening of 10 trials. Detorque force was measured with digital torque gauge, at each trial. Results. 1. As the coating deposition time increased, the surface became more consistent and smooth. 2. As for the abutment screws that were TiN coated for more than 60 minutes, no surface change was found after the repeated closing and opening. 3. The TiN coated abutment screws showed less weight change than the non-coated abutment screws. 4. The TiN coated abutment screws showed higher mean detorque force than the noncoated abutment screws. 5. The abutment screw coated for 60 minutes showed the highest mean detorque force. Conclusion. The coating layer of proper thickness is demanded to obtain consistent and smooth coating surface, resistance to wear, and increased detorque force of the abutment screw. In conclusion, the coating deposition time of 60 minutes indicated improved mechanical property, when TiN coating was conducted on titanium abutment screw.

Analysis of the Effect of Pavement Crack Depth of the Cavity Management Grade (포장 균열 깊이가 공동 관리 등급에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • Purpose: The Seoul Metropolitan Government classifies the cavity risks into emergency, priority, general, and observation grades in consideration of the cavity size, asphalt pavement thickness, and pavement depth based on the cavity management grade criteria of Seoul. In this study, the depth of cracking was measured at 17 cracks identified by checking the pavement condition of the cavity at 265 cavities found in the 2019 cavity investigation service. Method: In the first phase, crack width and depth were measured using a vernier caliper, taper gauge, and depth gauge to check the cracks of the identified cavities. In the second phase, the location of the largest crack in the upper road surface was confirmed, and A.C. was drilled to further measure the crack depth. Results: As a result, the cavity management level was raised in nine of the 17 test cavity identified. Therefore, in case of emergency and priority recovery, the grade should be adjusted according to the depth of pavement crack and the thickness of residual A.C. pavement. Conclusion: In the case of cracks in the upper part of the cavity, the crack progression must be determined through the perforation and the remaining asphalt concrete thickness must be determined to determine the cavity grade.

Influence of thickness and incisal extension of indirect veneers on the biomechanical behavior of maxillary canine teeth

  • Objectives: To analyze the influence of thickness and incisal extension of indirect veneers on the stress and strain generated in maxillary canine teeth. Materials and Methods: A 3-dimensional maxillary canine model was validated with an in vitro strain gauge and exported to computer-assisted engineering software. Materials were considered homogeneous, isotropic, and elastic. Each canine tooth was then subjected to a 0.3 and 0.8 mm reduction on the facial surface, in preparations with and without incisal covering, and restored with a lithium disilicate veneer. A 50 N load was applied at $45^{\circ}$ to the long axis of the tooth, on the incisal third of the palatal surface of the crown. Results: The results showed a mean of $218.16{\mu}strain$ of stress in the in vitro experiment, and $210.63{\mu}strain$ in finite element analysis (FEA). The stress concentration on prepared teeth was higher at the palatal root surface, with a mean value of 11.02 MPa and varying less than 3% between the preparation designs. The veneers concentrated higher stresses at the incisal third of the facial surface, with a mean of 3.88 MPa and a 40% increase in less-thick veneers. The incisal cover generated a new stress concentration area, with values over 48.18 MPa. Conclusions: The mathematical model for a maxillary canine tooth was validated using FEA. The thickness (0.3 or 0.8 mm) and the incisal covering showed no difference for the tooth structure. However, the incisal covering was harmful for the veneer, of which the greatest thickness was beneficial.

  • This paper presents characteristics of CrN thin-film strain gauges, which were deposited on glass by DC reactive magnetron sputtering in an argon-nitrogen atmosphere(Ar-$(5{\sim}25%)N_2$). The physical and electrical characteristics of these films investigated with the thickness range $3500{\AA}$ of CrN thin films, annealing temperature $(100{\sim}300^{\circ}C)$ and annealing $(24{\sim}72hr)$. The optimized condition of CrN thin-film strain gauges were thickness range of $3500{\AA}$ and annealing condition($300^{\circ}C$, 48 hr) in Ar-10 %$N_2$ deposition atmosphere. Under optimum conditions, the CrN thin-films for strain gauge is obtained a high resistivity, ${\rho}=1147.65{\mu}{\Omega}cm$, a low temperature coefficient of resistance, TCR=$-186ppm/^{\circ}C$ and a high temporal stability with a good longitudinal, 11.17. And change in resistance after annealing for the CrN thin-films were quitely linear and stable.

A Study on Change in the Length of Knit Flare Skirt through Mechanical Properties (역학적 특성에 따른 니트 플레어 스커트의 길이 변화에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the effects of knit samples' mechanical properties on changes of skirt length of knit flared skirt, and to compare it to the knitting method of a seamless knitted flare skirt. So, I compared the appearance and 3-dimensional shape of a seamless knitted flare skirt with those of a fully cut knit flared skirt. For this study, 18 kinds of cut and sew or seamless knitted test garment were made. The data analysis methods used in this study were descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The results are as follows: The result of the evaluation of knit samples' mechanical properties by the KES-FB system showed that elongation decreased as gauge increased and course direction was greatest among grain directions. The length change after wearing the knitted flare skirts appeared wholly equal to the seamless knitted, compared with the cut and sew. The change was biggest at $180^{\circ}$, 7G of the cut and sew. In grain direction, bias cut showed more than 1.2cm of length change. As the weight and thickness increased, the length changes become larger. The regression analysis indicated that the greatest contributive variables on the length changes were elongation, weight, and thickness.

MPTMS Treated Au/PDMS Membrane for Flexible and Stretchable Strain Sensors

  • Au/PDMS membranes are widely used to fabricate strain sensors which can detect input signals. An interfacial adhesion between metal films and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrates is one of the important factors determining the performance of strain sensors, in terms of robustness, reliability, and sensitivity. Here, we fabricate Au/PDMS membranes with (3-mercaptopropyl) trimethoxysilane (MPTMS) treatment. PDMS membranes were fabricated by spin-coating and the thickness was controlled by varying the spin rates. Au electrodes were deposited on the PDMS membrane by metal sputtering and the thickness was controlled by varying sputtering time. Owing to the MPTMS treatment, the interfacial adhesion between the Au electrode and the PDMS membrane was strengthened and the membrane was highly transparent. The Au electrode, fabricated with a sputtering time of 50 s, had the highest gauge factor at a maximum strain of ~0.7%, and the Au electrode fabricated with a sputtering time of 60 s had the maximum strain range among sputtering times of 50, 60, and 120 s. Our technique of using Au/PDMS with MPTMS treatment could be applied to the fabrication of strain sensors.

Reliability of Thickness Measurements of the Abductor Hallucis Muscle Using the Spring Gauge Technique in Hallux Valgus Subjects: An Ultrasonographic Study

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the intra- and inter-rater reliability of muscle thickness (MT) measurements of the abductor hallucis (AbdH) in subjects with hallux valgus (HV), using ultrasonography performed at different inward pressures of approximately 0.5 kg, 1.0 kg, 1.5 kg, and 2.0 kg, with no pressure control. Methods: Thirty-two subjects with HV were recruited. The thicknesses of both sides of the AbdH were measured randomly by two different examiners for assessment of the intra- and inter-rater reliability. The measurement values were analyzed using the intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) with a 95% confidence interval (CI). ICC (2,1) was used to determine the inter-rater reliability of MT measurements of the AbdH, while ICC (3,1) was used to assess the intra-rater reliability. Results: The results showed higher ICC values for intra-rater reliability compared to inter-rater reliability, and the value for inter-rater reliability with no pressure control (ICC=0.74 [95%CI=0.53-0.87]) was smaller compared to pressures of 0.5 kg, 1.0 kg, 1.5 kg, and 2.0 kg. Other inward pressures for intra- and inter-rater reliability also showed excellent values (ICC=0.86-0.96). Conclusion: The findings showed that maintaining consistent inward pressure is essential for reliable results in measurement of the MT of the AbdH by different examiners in a clinical setting.

The Study of Hinge Moment Measurement in Wind Tunnel Test Using Single Wheatstone Bridge Flexure (단일 휘트스톤 브리지 플렉셔를 이용한 풍동시험에서의 힌지모멘트 측정 연구)

  • In this study, a method using single Wheatstone bridge flexure has been presented to measure hinge moment acting on control surfaces of wind tunnel models. The structural simplicity of the flexure reduces difficulty regarding gauging and wire-routing, and also makes it feasible to install flexures even inside thin wings. Some flexures were designed and fabricated under typical aerodynamic loads in wind tunnel test, and the strains on the flexure according to applied loads were compared with the result of the analysis by finite element method. The relation between applied loads and output signals showed good linearity, and the standard deviation on the residual errors from linear equation obtained by least square method was within 1.0 % of the maximum design moments. In addition, the FEM analysis on the thickness of load-connecting part of the flexure showed that the sensitivity was improved as the thickness became thin as much as desired to avoid buckling.

  • This paper is concerned with Accuracy Design of LM Guide System in Machine Tools. Elastic deformation of bearing is calculated by Hertz contact theory and motion error of LM block is analyzed. A new algorithm using block stiffness is proposed fur the analysis of motion accuracy of the table. The best advantage of this algorithm is fast analysis speed because it isn't necessary iteration processes for satisfying equilibrium equation of the table. Motion errors of the table analyzed under artificial form error of rail theoretically and experimentally. Only one of two rails is bent by putting a thickness gauge into horizontal direction. This form error of rail is measured by gap sensor against the other rail. Then, motion errors of the table are predicted by proposed new algorithm theoretically and measured by laser interferometer. Measurements are carried out by changing the preload and thickness. The results show that the table motion errors are reduced from 1/2 to 1/60 times than form error of rail according to its height and width. And the effect of preloading is almost negligible.
