초미세 크기의 과염소산암모늄 결정체 제조 (Preparation of Ultra Fine Ammonium Perchlorate Crystals)

  • 과염소산암모늄(AP)의 N-메틸피롤리돈(NMP) 용액으로부터 초미세 크기를 갖는 과염소산암모늄(UFAP) 결정의 결정화 연구를 수행하였고, 침전된 결정들의 특성들을 scanning electron micrograph(SEM)와 X-ray diffraction(XRD) 그리고 thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)를 사용하여 분석하였다. 침전용매로 클로로포름, 염화메틸렌 그리고 톨루엔이 사용되었을 경우, 2$\mu\textrm{m}$ 이하의 크기를 갖는 결정들이 제조되었다. 제조된 UFAP의 결정학적 특성과 열분해 거동은 상용으로 사용되는 AP와 거의 유사하였다.

  • We measured the non-carbon content of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in SWCNT soot using thermogravimetric analysis. The weight increased percentage by the oxidation of metal in the raw soot is well obtained by TGA graph which was confirmed with ICP-AES, XRD, and XPS. This work will be very useful for the purity precise evaluation of SWCNT with UN-vis-NIR spectroscopy.

  • The combustion kinetics of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) was studied by the dynamic model which accounts for the thermal decomposition of polymer at any time. The kinetic analysis was performed by a conventional nonisothermal thermogravimetric (TG) technique at several heating rates between 10 and 40 K/min in air atmosphere. The thermal decomposition of PET in air atmosphere was found to be a complex process composed of at least two stages for which kinetic values can be calculated. The combustion kinetic analysis of PET gave apparent activation energy for the first stage of $257.3{\sim}269.9\;kJ/mol$, with a value of $140.5{\sim}213.8\;kJ/mol$ for the second stage. To verify the effectiveness of the kinetic analysis method used in this work, the kinetic analysis results were compared with those of various analytical methods. The kinetic parameters were also compared with values of the pyrolysis of PET in nitrogen atmosphere.

  • 상안정화 질산암모늄(PSAN)의 열분해 특성에 대한 연구를 thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)를 사용하여 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 질산칼륨과 산화아연이 상안정화제로 0%에서 8%사이에서 사용되었다. 열분해에 대한 속도론적 특성과 메카니즘들을 적분법을 사용하여 평가하였다. 활성화에너지(E)와 잦음율인자(A) 같은 열적 속도계수들은 상안정화제의 함량이 증가함에 따라 증가하였고, 분해 메카니즘 또한 변화되었다.

Oxidation Study on the Fabrication of Fe-36Ni Oxide Powder from Its Scrap

  • A study of oxidation kinetic of Fe-36Ni alloy has been investigated using thermogravimetric apparatus (TGA) in an attempt to define the basic mechanism over a range of temperature of 400 to $1000^{\circ}C$ and finally to fabricate its powder. The oxidation rate was increased with increasing temperature and oxidation behavior of the alloy followed a parabolic rate law at elevated temperature. Temperature dependence of the reaction rate was determined with Arrhenius-type equation and activation energy was calculated to be 106.49 kJ/mol. Based on the kinetic data and micro-structure examination, oxidation mechanism was revealed that iron ions and electrons might migrate outward along grain boundaries and oxygen anion diffused inward through a spinel structure, $(Ni,Fe)_3O_4$.

  • Titanium dioxide particles are used as photocatalysts, sensors, adsorbents and catalyst. Core-shell polymers of inorganic/organic pair, which have both core and shell component, were synthesized by sequential emulsion polymerization using Acrylate as a shell monomer and potassium persulfate (KPS) as an initiator. We found that when Acrylate core prepared by adding 0.5~2.0 wt% EU-S133D, Titanium dioxide / Acrylate core-shell polymerization was carried out on the surface of Titanium dioxide particle without forming the new Titanium dioxide particle during acrylate shell polymerized in the inorganic/organic core-shell polymer preparation. The structure of core-shell polymer were investigated by measuring to the thermal decomposition of polymer composite using thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA) and morphology of latex by scanning electron microscope(SEM).

  • Silicone dioxide absorbed polyoxyethylene alkylether sulfate (EU-S75D) surfactant was prepared. The core-shell composite of inorganic/organic were polymerized by using styrene(St) as a shell monomer and potassium persulfate(KPS) as an initiator. We studied the effect of surfactants on the core-shell structure of silicone dioxide/styrene in the presence of an anionic surfactant lauryl sulfate(SLS). The structure of core-shell polymer were investigated by measuring to the thermal decomposition of polymer composite using thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA) and morphology of latex by scanning electron microscope(SEM).

  • The characteristics of particulate matters (PM) from an exhaust gas for conventional and low temperature diesel combustion (LTC) in a compression ignition engine was experimentally investigated by the elemental, thermogravimetric analysis. Morphology of PM was also studied by the transmission electron microscopy. PM for LTC shows that it contains more volatile hydrocarbons, which can be easily evaporated than conventional regime. PM for LTC is comprised of smaller primary particles.

Crystal Forms of Ketorolac

  • Four crystal forms of ketorolac have been obtained by recrystallization in organic solvents under variable conditions. Different ketorolac polymorphs and pseudo polymorph were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction crystallography (XRD), Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). In the dissolution studies in water at $37{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ four crystal forms showed different patterns. The solubility of Form I were the highest. The solubility decreased in rank order: Form I> Form II > Form III > Form IV. Form land Form III were shown to have a good physical stability at room temperature for 60 days. However, Form II is converted to Form III and Form IV is converted to Form I after 60 days storage. Therefore, these observations indicate that crystalline polymorphism for ketorolac is readily inter-convertible and the relationship may have to taken into consideration in the formulation of the drug.
